I know that Cradley Heathens & Birmingham Brummies (both in the NL) would suit the purists in Brum & The Black Country BUT I would go with a fresh start with both the normal, historic team colours and call them Perry Bar Heathens & Perry Bar Brummies. No axe to grind, been a Heathens/Speedway fan since 1960...well 1959, just two teams surviving to race on instead of going into hibernation or becoming extinct all over a name! I also agree with BBuck....call them what ever as long as Cradley or Birmingham survive!!!!!! As for Cradley ever 'going home'....not in my life time in Dudley, the Council have destroyed virtually all sport in the Borough over the last 25 years and there is no sign of any change today or in the future!
-
I should have said the...............Well done me babbies, we'Ommered over the 2 Legs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Have to agree with the above! I have followed the Heathens in the NL since 2010, Club CH in the CL way back, Wolf Cubs in the CL, as well as Buxton in the CL and have been all over to UK to watch 3rd Tier Speedway. Beats PL & EL hands downall the time for me! Have fun and enjoy!

Tony Mole holds at least 2 GOLDEN KEYS to Perry Bar....1) Access to the owners & 2) the Speedway Plant! Without that, both Clubs are doomed to the Defunct Pile of Speedway History for the fore see able future. Greyhoundp..........As to my usage of the Perry Bar name ........It will keep up to 2000+ fans more happy than Cradley @ Birmingham only! I cannot see the Council going against the Perry Bar name, unlike Redcar did against Middlesbrough & Lathalan did against Linlithgow a while back. Think out of the box, not like when a while back if it wore Dudley Wood we ay gooin! Then we might have a future on homeshale in the top division of Speedway where we belong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once a Heathen, always a Heathen as it says in the programme!
-
Have to say that I agree with Brummie Kev. From what I can see on 2014 numbers the only way Cradley & Brum can co-exist is taken from the following: NL Cradley & NL Brum, as Perry Bar Heathens & Perry Bar Brummies! EL Cradley & NL Brum, as Perry Bar Heathens & Perry Bar Brummies! PL Perry Bar (B)Heathens (to keep the Council happy)with a Cradley front and a Brummies back to the bib or a Cradley/Brummie front & back! To say that the Heathens get the front of the bib is due to who would be major in the financing of the venture and as the most successful club in any league we have been in! I know that it would not keep everybody happy BUT BOTH parties with be catered for 'til the explosion occurs in West Midlands Speedway....I would, as a life time Heathens fan have a team on home shale and so would a lot of Brummies fans. We go back too far in both our histories to fight, well 1947 at least and we will have to forget the Alan Hunt and Graham Warren sagas!!!!!! Due to Perry Bar's constraints I cannot see PL & NL co-existing with the number of available dates!
-
I second what you have put forward as a Heathens fan........The only way I see Cradley at Perry Bar is as joint tenants in the NL and hope that they do not get through to the Play Offs or a long way in the KO Cup! As I said earlier...unless a miracle occurs this is possibly "The End" for the Heathens.
-
If this is correct then we have little or NO hope! 5 great Seasons in the NL and a lot of memories I thought that I would never have again after 1995/6 & Club CH folded. I said to Enoch of Club CH fame at St. Austell way back that we would never get a home again and Monmore Wood was as close as it got. To quote a Doors song from way back, if "This Is The End", thanks to all at Heathens HQ, especially Nigel & Will for 5 very happy Seasons in the National league & ALL the memorabilia I got from you!!!!!! I can look at the programmes, books, badges & Race Jackets with fond memories. Hope the Brummies can come back, then extend our NL Seasons into the future.

King's Lynn V Cradley Heath (koc Final) - 22nd October
berniev123 replied to Mimmo's topic in National League Speedway
Mimmo, who says that the Heathens cannot run at Monmore in 2015? Nothing has been said here in the Black Country! Mimmo, just found this on our web site........... "CRADLEY Heath Speedway have been advised that Monmore Green Stadium will only be available for one night of weekly racing in 2015. It is with deep regret, therefore, that the club announce they will be unable to share the venue with Wolverhampton Wolves who will continue racing on Monday nights. Cradley Heath Speedway acknowledge this is a worrying time for supporters and riders alike and the management will make every effort to make alternative plans for the Heathens to be able to continue racing in 2015. We would like to assure loyal supporters that this will in no way distract the club from our ongoing work in establishing a permanent home for the club. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ladbrokes for hosting the Heathens on a year-to-year basis for the last five seasons along with the Wolverhampton track staff. The last opportunity to see the Heathens in action at Monmore Green is next Tuesday, October 28, in the second leg of the Knockout Cup Final against King's Lynn." That is a bit of a shock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another closure for us I see! -
Nl Play Off Final Cradley V Coventry 21/10/14
berniev123 replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
From my experience you cannot deal with a baby if you have a broken wrist...Daft concept or trolling Triple H.... Wait , get a life or what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
A good idea to hire a neutral track (anywhere), at least then the KL & K problem would be sorted on the track not off it!
-
Mason is 3rd in the GSA so R/R (1 above him and the rest below him in the present GSA) is the only option from what I know. Guest(s) is/are for #1 or if 2 or more are out I think!

Have to ask, but if Cradley had built to 22.5 points would there be this rubbish about them??? NO!!! 40 points is the limit in the NL and 8 teams have built to that. No problem then? I have to add, as well, that Cradley since '47 have had way above average crowds with cash and a fervour that is second to none for the green & white and have also been 'Ommered way too often in the 1965 to 1979 years just like Scunny home & away....I was there!! 60+ is great to me as I have watched the Heathens struggling to get 20 at Dudley Wood back in the day so 2013/14 is payback, but I do hope that we move up to the PL or the EL sooner rather than later but then it is not my money is it to fund such a venture? If NL or 3rd Division is all we can do, let it roll on, if 21 years and counting for Buxton is good for them then it is for me with Dudley/Cradley (since 2010 relaunch). Cradley Heathens V Buxton Hitmen - National League (29/04/14)
berniev123 replied to Hunty's topic in National League Speedway
Not that I have noticed! -
I have to ask, but was that after a most prolific 'ommering at home? From my maths, the present Stags have yet to have an accumulated a score of 50. What good is that to the youngsters? Words do not heal humiliation in the sporting world A trifle unfair on the others in the NL AFTER the tweaking? Eh? Anyone who meets the 40 Point NL Average at a 23 point team average will have VAST unfair advantage when Fordie gets the '14 Stags act together????????? My last post, as I find this idea in 2014 a bit strange as it dates back to at to at least 1998 when second half riders who were not CL/NL standard were allowed into the CL/NL teams, usually in challenges!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I did not want to enter this debate about Stags '14, but as a life long Heathens fan and fan of the 3rd Div. since at least 1998.....Scunny are WRONG being so low below the 40 points limit BUT they will in about 3 or 4 years have provided a fair number of teams with first class riders! I know that we at Cradley will get a few as that is what has happened since 2010! My mind works this way........Castleford Castles then Castleford Kings then Stags then whoever will take on the ones who will get better (Scunthorpe/Cradley???)......then PL then EL if possible. I am a true Heathen and will always be...BUT the Stags need beefing up at the moment and allowed to roam where ever their ability takes them. I know that the present 7 and the re-declared 7 will have problems at Monmore Wood when they visit but I look forward to the next generation of NL riders to step to the tapes from Scunthorpe and wear the super Stags '14 bib with attitude & pride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forgot to add, I wished we in the Black Country had the Scunthorpe Raceway, as I know how loved and supported all the facilities and teams and riders would be!!!!!!!
-
I cannot wait to see the next 3 or 4 Seasons of NL Scunthorpe's development at Monmore Wood! I can see in 2016 ish they will be either Champions or spread around the NL as Second Strings or Heat Leaders or in the PL/EL as has happened in the last 10 years. Well done and good luck to all at Scorpions/Stags/Saints HQ.

Call it what you want but have you ever been on a Tuesday night to Wolverhampton? It is as close to Dudley Wood as we will be for possibly a very long while! Monday>>>>>>> 'The Green' for the Wolves fans and Tuesdays 'The Wood' for the Heathens! One ground, TWO totally different teams, set up and, more importantly.....THE FANS! Once a Heathen, Always a Heathen!!!!!
-
Can I point out that Dudley/Cradley ride at Monmore Wood on a Tuesday night have done so since sometime in 2010 when Tuesday night was renamed as 'A Night at The Wood'. The name has stuck ever since by all concerned. I may point out that Monmore Wood on a Tuesday is as green & white as it ever was at Dudley Wood way back and, if we cannot get back to our own home, long may it continue! Long may the work at Scunthorpe continue as without it the whole of British speedway would be a lot poorer, also when the Stags get too many NL riders I hope that they come to The Wood to learn how to turn left on a very tricky track....just like others have in the past, especially Tai..........then again he is at The Green on a Monday!!!!!!! Keep up the magnificent training at Scunthorpe on all the facilities and maybe all the teams in all the British Leagues may get somebody from the Saints/Stags one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once a Heathen, Always a Heathen!!!!!

Who Was The Most Frustrating Rider?
berniev123 replied to Ommer Mon's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
You have to take into account that I was about 12 at the time and was very use to the local Black Country folk and spelling at the time! When Pepi appeared in the UK I was very, very old and more worldly wise! -
Who Was The Most Frustrating Rider?
berniev123 replied to Ommer Mon's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I know that this is a bit off but way back in the past well 1966/67 at Cradley Joe Weichlbauer frustrated me a bit as I could never get to grips with spelling his name in the programme and boy was I glad when the'68 season came around!!!!! -
Leicester Join The National Trophy

I can but dream, after all the Heathens came back against all the odds, so have Scunthorpe, Leicester & Plymouth!
