  1. As a regular Scunny fan who is always there at least an hour and a half prior to tapes up ,the track was not normal as the blade never comes out during a meeting to move the shale back to the middle. Track was also in my opinion underwatered, inside line was not touched and was bare of shale.
  2. For me the racing got better as the heats went on,but agreed the outside line was not doing much and cost Bomber 2nd place in the final. I always think the track produces much better racing on a damper rougher surface but with a strong drying wind always difficult during afternoon meetings. Congrats to Hans and well done to Ben Barker best I have seen him ride so far. Hope plenty of money was raised. Note to promoters and track shops everywhere get soom cheap air horns cos in my humble opinion atmosphere all over the country seems subdued apart from Cardiff GP. Yeah we are British and clap politely but lets have more presence and let the riders here us- 40000 air horns cannot be wrong
  3. Two miles from the track. Very light overnight rain -not enough to wet the track. Now drying wind 6.0c and patchy grey cloud with blue bits in between- forecast for rest of day is dry .Game on see you there.
  4. Will try and remember to update local weather early Saturday morning, so far looks like Scunthorpe will miss all the bad weather.
  5. Have to go thru main gates to get in towards mini track so I presume it will be from 11am- best of luck, it looks good fun but my own bones are too fragile now for me to try it!
  6. Tai is back in Scunny after his Aussie Hols, my prediction for last two places are him and team mate Fast Freddie.
  7. Spinny you can have Hackney,Isle of Wight, Newport and Kings Lynn
  8. Jotun paints manufacturing plant is about 8 windmill lengths from the EWR as the crow flies.
  9. Can we get it right it is a Scunthorpe/Sheffield team first and foremost, not a Sheffield/Scunthorpe team.
  10. What has Hull got to do with it? It seems to me a regular supporter, that about 10 Hull fans bother to cross the bridge to watch the best racing in the country. If they want an identity let them set up a club in and around Hull (maybe Fozzie (superstar1 ) might bother to attend )Saints at the EWR, Prowlers, Cubs etc at Owlerton. Keeps both sets of fans happy supporting their own team ,even if that team is Scunthorpe Saints in disguise. Sheffield gain 4 extra meetings to fill their race day calendar, not convinced Scunny fans have gained anything but Rob, Neil and David know best- err maybe!!!
  11. If its snowing or a mud bath my money is on Tony Atkin. I have had severe frost bite several times spectating at the EWR in mid March
  12. Well done to all the riders for an entertaining day. Clearly putting the power down on ice and getting a good gate was vital, as well as riding a tight line since riding the boards was a no goer -except for Ben Barker ( is he always so up himself?? ) Well done to Thomas Jorgensen winning the 3 legged race with Mr entertainer Martin Smolinski- at least the Scorps won something. Is Martin Smolinski the personality our sport needs to give it a lift in the way Sheene and Hunt did??? What a great guy totally immersed in the whole proceedings -Thanks. On the negative side, the PA system was totally crap and interviews nigh impossible to hear. Why does my Sat Nav try and send me on Toll Motorways constantly around West Midlands???
  13. No disrespect to Sheffield and its facilities but it is first and foremost a dog track, with dog track money making facilities easier to fund. Scunthorpe is first and foremost a Speedway track and will grow steadily as its crowd base and facilities improve. I was there flying model planes before Rob took over the site, so have seen enormous changes over the last half a decade or so.Fair play to Rob Godfrey and his band of unsung helpers for year on year improvements. Hope the weather is good for the Ben meeting.
  14. Was standing 4 yards to your right on the front rail in the stand so saw you zoom off from your Redcar mates-does that make you a Redcar Runner or a Scunny Sprinter??? If Jan top scores tomorrow I'll get the champers in, do not sap his strength tonight!!!.
  15. Well done Jan-nobody predicted that one! Not an easy track but still some excellent racing all the same. Nice to have another Scunthorpe rider win the trophy-well deserved against some strong competition. Best way to put yourself in the window for next season, same again in the Young Shield please. Jan's partner was well pleased sprinting from the second stand to the pits-just a blonde blur going by, bit like Jan on the night really
  16. Why is Magnus Karlsson not defending his trophy won last year. Do we take it that things are that bad with the promotion and he is driven out???
  17. Weather is currently cloudy with a strong drying wind with odd glimpses of the sun. Showers are forecast late evening so Ref should be pushing the meeting along quickly. The track is very quick to dry out and can stand a heavy downpour so get yourself here.
  18. Krankies didn't say that it was Stu Francis of Crackerjack.
  19. Two miles from track-Time 12.10pm Sky is breaking up and sun is trying to get through. South West wind drying earlier rain up and thermometer saying 6 degrees centigrade- usual EWR racing temperature come on down no snow here.
  20. Local forecast is a balmy 7 degrees centigrade for Sunday and all the major roads to Scunny are clear of snow so get yourselves here for your speedway fix.
  21. Well done Ricky, best man on the night and bad luck David Howe a repeat of your semi final sweep around the outside was just too much to ask. One major gripe get some stewards on the car park at leaving time cos 50 minutes of bumpers to move 50 yards is a joke!
  22. Perhaps after your Four thousandth posting they take more notice of your ramblings than mine!! Being a novice on here will try and put stuff in correct place next time. Cheers and see you at the EWR soon.
  23. For all of us who need a speedway fix there is a short track meeting at Scunthorpe on Saturday 27th Dec starting at 1.00pm. Our own Tai Woofinden , Cooperman, Rambo Lambo and a host of others will be riding the Eddie Wright Raceway to blow off the Xmas pud and booze. Weather is looking ok at moment so should be highly entertaining on a real passing track.
