Premier League 2015 Predictions
scunny1 replied to cambpanther's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I do like us being underdogs and written off before a wheel is turned-it usually means a good season for the Scorpions!!! -
Last year I attended as many home meetings as work would allow, Friday nights been far easier to attend as" my quality time" rather than family shopping, weekend events and work call outs. Racing 90%+ is better at night due to better more stable track conditions ( even if it is so much colder ). I followed the Scorpions as far South as Rye House, as far West as Somerset, as far North as Glasgow along with several tracks nearer to home - on each occasion not to watch us win, but to be entertained and part of the speedway thing. We all want to be entertained, with slick presentation, friendly faces and good racing of course, so Promoters have to try harder to keep spectators engaged- Personally roving microphone interviews and Rob's banter I like. Also Refs need to move things along, too much gardening, too much returning to pits , to eager to call off meetings when tracks to us regular attendees look quite raceable etc. I also try to engage work colleagues, friends, relatives etc to attend speedway ,sometimes it works other times not -usually after long drawn out meetings for whatever reason. This up coming season we have a blend of entertainers in the team and certainly at home the spectators should see some cracking racing. Will we be Champions ,who knows, but proper racing is what we want to see, no trick tracks, no gate and go ,just four riders trying their best and being hard but fair to each other. Rob and his band of helpers will try their damndest to ensure Speedway survives at the EWR, we Supporters can also do our bit to embrace their efforts and try and put more bums on seats. See you all in a few months and a Happy New Year!

To the TJ doubters don't worry he has scored many vital match winning points over several seasons. I for one will miss him at the EWR next season ,never gives up and good to watch, our loss is your gain.

Ricky an inspiration!!! Keep getting better, keep fighting, you have the determination to succeed. Look forward to the meeting next year here's hoping for a massive turn out for a very worthy, likable speedway guy.

Some surprise signings in there with potential to certainly entertain. Two un proven Reserves maybe a worry, so we need them to perform right from the start. Last season we had the luxury of a strong reserve and all who took that position gained a deal of confidence and plenty of points. What we really need are good tracks and plenty of practise prior to league business, last year we were lack lustre and seemingly rusty at the start of the season-did we miss Press and practise sessions??? I am sure Rob will put plenty of dirt on the outside, as most of this team like to ride the boards! Hopefully our riders will stay injury free all season, as that is a major contributor to a successful season and can make or break. An interesting selection of riders, personally I like being underdogs as most on here seem to think we will be, End of October will Rob be saying "told you we would be really good this season"???

No Telegraph, but my 40 years pension could be frozen and I have been a die hard fan from Quibell Park, through Ashby Ville and EWR,if there's no work,no speedway either.

Attendances have fallen all over the country, however if you are in a Northern Industrial town where year on year the major employer sheds hundreds of jobs, its easy to see why people can't afford luxury items like speedway. If Tata does not sell to Klesch group, then the whole town is in deep dooh dah. Start of the season ends 6 months of due diligence for the prospective new employer with 10000 jobs on the line, time will tell if attendances hit rock bottom and Speedway in the town folds again.

Scunthorpe £15 for adults , £5 for up to 18 year olds, £1 programme and £1 parking (although plenty free area on industrial estate opposite).
-
Hope you both choose a good number 7 reserve next season then.
-
He knows we don't do season tickets at Scunny.
-
What about- Howe Auty Jorgensen Douglas Birks Ben Wilson or Todd Kurtz Perks
-
TJ a must for next season, never gives up and a team player. Thomas has got us through many meetings when needed over the years and has been a fantastic loyal servant to the club. Become stale? oh look top scoring today again....
-
Started slowly, improved massively ,then crippled by injuries all at once.
-
3 regular high scorers out and our reserve who has done nothing all season back in, it really is the best chance the Witches will ever get to beat us at the EWR. Josh, Thomas and David have got to score big , but I fear the two Riches being ex Scorpions will do some damage. Weather looks perfect too.

If Ash Birks is injured then we are very very weak at the tail end and will suffer big style. -

History books will still say " Scunthorpe Scorpions 2012 Premier League Champions", whatever you bad losers say! -
Firstly congrats to the Tigers on their win, richly deserved and also their fans who made the few of us who made the 520 mile round trip very welcome. Tigers were clearly very determined and we, apart from those already mentioned, were not even at the races. A potential 8-1 for us turned into a 3-2 against, was the last chance to get back into the match, from then on any chance of points was gone. Final nail in the coffin a farcical heat 15, from a Referee who penalised us every time the rider anticipated the tapes going up. Tape rules and inconsistent Refs need addressing by the Management committee because the paying public and riders are being robbed. We had 4 hours drive home to discuss our bitter disappointment dissecting every heat. I am sure Rob also could not wait to get away from Glasgow and quickly move on , so it seemed the speed he passed us at just before Southwaite Services. Time to regroup, refocus and try to maintain a top 6 position at the cut off date. On last nights performance we have much to do.
