Phillips as team coach???
-
Are Scorpion fans really bothered about the NSS? No, we are more concerned about winning at the EWR and that's what Josh, Jake ,Jason and Stefan will do. The remainder of the team can just improve their averages for me.
-
Even if he's fully fit he still needs to sort his head out and commit to first bend attack ,which was sadly lacking after his return.
-
Granted Steve put forward the after meeting talks, which he pinched from Bellvue and it has gone down well with the fans. Jason very rarely misses the interaction between fans and riders. Steve says he's attending then often no show- usually after a heat 15 failure. Like I have said before Steve is the PR man , Jason is down with the fans and is the Motivator and Entertainer. If we polled the Scorpion fans I am certain Mr Garrity would be the fans choice of signing.
-
Coming back after a bad injury it was clear to see Steve was not 100% committed going into the first bend . The number of times he backed out was not the No1 we expected to dominate, you could never say that about Jason. We can now get back to a race track to suit our riders ,with more shale and an outside line early doors.

Well I for one is happy with our retained top end. I think most teams will have a weak tail end given the 38 point limit. It just means our young Aussie will have a steep learning curve and needs to get into the points quickly- a big ask but he comes well recommended by current and ex Scorpions.

Jason Garrity has been the heart and soul of the Scorpions all 2018 . Steve may have been captain and a good PR man but Jason is without doubt the team motivator. Would welcome Jason back anytime.

Light is good, less mass equals faster bike. As long as he has the strength to turn the bike, lack of weight is not an issue.

Good start, one on my wish list and one unknown, who's next?

Auty's season is over due to ankle problems- unfortunately for us. -
Just a question. Was Josh Auty granted a testimonial this year? Did I miss it, or has his injury postponed it???

Lucky enough to be on the back straight and got to greet our team, but agree a ride round on the truck was no biggie. As for the PA on the back straight-pretty useless and echo all around. I never heard any firework announcement either but not real bothered. Only real bother was Gino- looked well glum and no interaction with fans at all, somebody tell him we won! -

Thought promotion and fans had agreed- we don't like Sunday afternoon dust bowls and prefer usual Friday night consistent track -

Jeez, give the lad a break. He puts up the match advert week after week, done in his own time and very probably for free. He also puts in a lot of time at amateur meetings , in field flag marshalling, starter, ref's box etc. He also does a sterling job on speedway updates site ,again all voluntary. All in all a true fan of the sport. -

After the dust storm on heat 1 it was clear track was bone dry. The rain was barely a fine drizzle until midway through the meeting when it turned to light rain. Even by end of heat 15 hardly a puddle on the ground. Well done to the Scorpions all up for it, well done to the Ref for pushing meeting along too. 15 heats still to play for but so far advantage Scorpions. -
Scorpions v Ipswich 24.08.18 SGBC

Rob was well aware we were poor, so was Dave Peet and Steve Worrall was embarrassed by the performance, or lack of, as well. I am sure if Jason had his say he would have been disappointed with his team mates also, but probably said with passion and a few more choice less pc words! Jake and Josh have been prolific scorers at home and were always going to be sorely missed. Stefan needs more races to re hone his track craft. Don't know what I can say about the reserves, apart from not good enough. I stayed until the bitter end hoping it was all a one off, with the track not suiting ,us not gating, and Ipswich just so much better on the night. I saw a few new faces who I personally knew attending for the first time, don't expect on this performance they will return in a hurry. -

No Wayne Carter was in a red t shirt, it was someone I did not recognise, but Gino was listening intently to older guys advice. -

Nice to see Gino getting plenty of practice in yesterday.Looked like he was having fun helping the amateurs out and at same time getting plenty of track time for himself. Don't know who person on start line was giving Gino advice? Young Jack looked alarmed when Gino jumped on the back and set him on probably his fastest lap. -

A draw always feels like a defeat to the home team. Blown away by the Reserves yet again ,with our reserves not even close in any races. It is what it is now, but Gino has gone backwards since his spill in Germany and his confidence looks shot. What was Mr Peet doing in heat 15, when Jake was clearly a much better bet than Steve to pair up with Josh? Well done Bandits on a competitive match , I think our play off place is now blown. -
You still laughing Odsalboy? Get yourself to the EWR for some real racing because your management have stuffed your season big style.

3 Sheffield promotors for a start plus 1 ex Sheffield team manager and yes they do get in for free.
