The future of British Speedway after the 2023 season
RS50 replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
With the reduction in the number of teams, I believe a merger between the top two leagues is inevitable. Would have to be a championship level standard, due to affordability issues with some clubs. Probably means this year could be the last time we will see the likes of Bewley, Doyle,Sayfitdinov, Holder etc. -
Came back to ride for Sheffield in 2nd division, nowhere near as good as he previously was, then quit.
-
Also, usually pubs near housing estates. Most speedway noise would be before 10pm. Most noise at pub chucking out time likely to be when people want to sleep.
-
Simple really. Scott Nichols was not a member of the club but rode for them. He then joined them but did not ride for them. Has now left the club but will be back riding for them.
-
Hi, can anyone tell me if admission this year, will be cash, card or either? Thanks
-
Doesn't help teams who fail to qualify for play offs, and speedway, ideally needs all teams to survive.

For anyone not on Facebook, tonight's STAARS meeting at New Barracks Tavern is cancelled.

Premiership 2025 Confirmed Signings
RS50 replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Who would be available on this average? -
I believe it is next Thursday the 16th.
-
Great Yarmouth still has stock car racing. I believe speedway finished in 1954 in Great Yarmouth, but this was before my time, so I could be wrong.
-
All Premiership Junior League matches were completed in the Northern section, apart from the final (winner's of Northern section v Southern winners), which could not happen, as Southern section not completed.
-
Thought technology was supposed to be going forward, but you suggesting going back to steam power?
-
Sheffield fans would have been disappointed with him this season. If I remember correctly, he implied that he could improve his average. However, it reduced quite a bit, despite riding mainly at number 2, whereas previously, had been a lot at 1 or 5. I suppose the question could be, is he now on a bargain average, or just on his way down.

Number 8 for each team and Junior League
RS50 replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No mention of a Junior League or Number 8s, in this year's AGM statement. Presumably the Junior League has been scrapped (or at least it would be if it had ever been properly implemented. But are we going to have number 8s? Not heard of any team signing one. -
Is there a STAARS meeting this Thursday?
-
Hope you are right. Bellego for Sedgemen makes our top 6 even stronger IMO.
-
Does Adam Ellis average fit?. I did a rough calculation, and thought it was slightly over. I'm no expert so could be wrong.
-
I believe you can have more than one from the rising star list, but only class one as your rising star. The other (s) just get included in the team, using their average.
-
Don't remember all the criteria for a rising star, but think being under 25 at start of season could be one of them. Brennan could have too high average to qualify.
-
Will Mountain still qualify as a rising star?
-
Bellego confirmed.
-
Was anything of interest said at last night's STAARs meeting? Thanks.

League Cup Final Sheffield v Kings Lynn
RS50 replied to RS50's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Was it Anders Henrikson he was chasing?
