  1. It's this sort of thing that has put me off going to Buxton. Take far too long. Certainly don't fancy waiting around for ages when the weather turns colder.
  2. In view of the rain being forecast, it should have been tapes up at 7.30 ( not rider introductions), and get on with it a bit quicker. Owner's may have saved on wages, but I am now considering not going to the Belle Vue match. I pay to watch speedway, not for the introductions. How many others feel the same? Could have been an interesting finish. Could Sheffield have got the aggregate point? Could there have been a superheat for the aggregate point?. Could Kings Lynn have got a draw. We'll never know.
  3. Seem recall hearing that previous promoter Neil Machin wanted to do this, but was refused permission from Stadium owners.
  4. As long as it isn't Kings Lynn's pit gate. Don't want that breaking again 🙂
  5. According to the latest line up, Craig Cook is not riding. Did anyone forsee that???😀
  6. I'm wondering why Northampton. No association between them and Woffy that I know of. If the teams he has been involved with, that are still operating, Scunthorpe and Sheffield are the ones I first thought of.
  7. Just checked my EPG for Saturday 7pm. Showing as motorbike show from 7pm to 9pm then football. The programme description does not mention speedway.
  8. I can remember Juniors being promoted. However in practice how would it work today. Let's say Belle Vue and Sheffield are against each other, and Kurtz Doyle J Holder and Pickering are out. You put out teams as follows 1 Cook 2 Cairns 3 Blodorn 4 Ziscke 5 Kildemand 6 Junior 7 Junior. 1 C Holder 2 Killeen 3 Flint 4 Etheridge 5 Rowe 6 Junior 7 Junior. Would it be fair to charge Premiership prices, for e championship standard match. Would more be attracted to the match, than if you had replacements such as Fricke Douglas Lawson, Musielak?
  9. If Batch would have rode like he did for Sheffield, Hodder makes them stronger.
  10. Has Jacob Hook definitely signed for Scunthorpe? Can't find anything on Scunthorpe website, Facebook, or BSPL to confirm this.
  11. Not sure, but I thought you could have a replacement, up to the missing rider's average, but he would get a 28 day suspension. Assuming Kyle has no intention in the next 28 days, this would have little effect.
  12. Fact or speculation? Thought it was said that it was too late for changes.
  13. Would have thought it more sensible to pick top 8, which would include Lambert.
  14. Anyone know why Lambert was not seeded to the final?
  15. My thoughts on the decline. 1 Amount of entertainment per match. When I first started going, typically 21 races including 2nd half. Now it's 15. 2 Prices. Saw an article mentioning prices ( for a top division match) in the 80s. Had admission only gone up by inflation would about £9 adults, and £5 pensioners. Now more like £25/£23. This means the price per race has increased from around £0.43 to £1.66 for adults, and £0.24 to £1.53 pensioners. 3 Amount of time a meeting now takes. Seems to take longer now to do 15 races, than it did to do 21 races, many years ago. Recently went to Buxton. 3pm start, had hoped that all 15 main races and the extra MDL races would have been completed by 5pm. At 5.15, only 12 races had been completed, and they announced there would be an interval. At this point I left. Many followed. Some were departing as early as race 8. Will those people go back?. Simply taking longer to do less is not more entertaining. 4 "Gardening" at the tapes. Just boring to watch. 5 Dodgy call offs. 6 Lack of loyalty to long term fans. Seems to be some very good offers to potentially new and younger fans. All we regular fans seem to be getting is "the match has been called off" Someone is kicking a ball about/ there's something on the telly. We waited long enough for this year's fixtures, could at least try to stick to them. Not all speedway fans like football. Don't they matter?
