  1. Not as expensive as you may think Jacques, some sites have special deals for the hotel....I got an absolute stonker of a deal last time I stayed which made it cheaper than the holiday/travel/whatever inn just down the road.
  2. I stayed at the Brandon Hall Hotel which is a few minutes drive from the stadium...you can walk it but I think you would be knackered if you did! Some sites still have vacancies for the above hotel.
  3. How gutted am I? Was going to go to the original staging of this as it's not really that far up the road but the blooming weather intervened...and now for the restaging, I am away on holiday! I suppose I could drive from our caravan to Peterborough but I doubt my kids and my parents would be happy (have arranged to go out on Sunday for a meal to celebrate their anniversary) plus I have to watch the pennies to make sure they last through the holiday.
  4. Can I be different and refuse a piece of humble pie? I was one of the few that asked people to keep the faith in Chris when he was going through his rough patch at Coventry, and when he was announced as being in the GP's, yes I was initially slightly worried about how he would cope (for all of a few minutes) but then tempered that with my knowledge of how much of a battler he is.
  5. Well I took my camera but took the grand total of 4 pictures....and not very exciting ones at that!
  6. Drinking? I went to the POW but there was no chance of a drink with the size of the queue...I nipped round to the local spar shop and the tea shop next door to get our drinks! We did almost go to the collectors fair but after a horrendous journey time and booking into the hotel, plans sort of went awol and time was in short supply. James did get a hat though!
  7. Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the updates site? If so, could you please either leave a message here or send me an email or pm. Thanks
  8. I love the Express write up.....it recaptured the atmosphere of Saturday best.
  9. For the first time we got a very strict bag checker.....our big bottle of coke was missed (he felt the bottom of the rucksack but the shape of it was missed by the huge Harry Potter hardback book!) but a little tiny bottle of fruit juice was found and my son had to drink it before we went in. We went in Gate 1
  10. Phew, finally back online. What a bloody amazing day! The atmosphere may have been flatter during the day but it certainly wasn't during the meeting, from the word go, Bomber,Scott and David gave us entertainment. I am another one who was virtually in tears when Bomber crossed the finish line although I had thought he could do it.....with a bit of luck and pure determination. I felt so proud to be British last night and even the soaking we received on the way to the Prince of Wales pub afterwards was nothing, we didn't care, a brit had won at Cardiff!! Bloody and (insert strong swear word which means fornication) brilliant!!!!!
  11. MacDonald Brothers.....enjoyed Brenda .....hmmm Ray Quinn.....Er god knows, took that chance to have my one and only ciggie of the GP Chas and Dave, well I was in the stadium, saw them start but then got lost in conversation. And that We love Speedway song....god how embarrassing!
  12. Good on yer Rabs, when it seemed like I was unable to go I kept telling myself I wasn't bothered but as the date became closer and the ads started on the telly, that was it, I just had to go again. Thankfully my parents came through once more and are having 2 of the boys and I have once again managed to say yes with 2 weeks to go!
