Absolutely brilliant day, saw lots of old friends, met some new ones and introduced youngest son to the delight that is Cardiff. I thought the racing was actually pretty good for a GP, a fair bit of passing in most of the races although as others have said, it would have been better had the gates not been so unequal...think I prefer the smoother surface than one where you dread the riders going into a corner where a rut is and the potential injuries. The biggest revelation for me was youngest son, he stopped going to speedway as he was finding it difficult to cope with the noise and people (it can get busy where we sit at Foxhall) and when he expressed an interest in going with me this year, I was a little dubious about how he would cope with it.....needn't have worried, he absolutely loved it and wants to go again next year! He even liked the socialising bit! I know some others may not have been impressed with how it was run but he found it all very impressive, the lights, the music, the crowd and flag waving and he even (in his own words), was getting back into the actual racing again towards the end and found himself shouting until he was hoarse for Tai in the semi and final. He still doesn't want to go a normal meeting though.....but at least speedway regained at least one fan last night.

I had to order mine direct from the stadium (wheelchair area), they arrived less than 24 hrs later (ordered in the afternoon, arrived following morning)

We're going, first time since 2009. We are taking the one day coach, should be fun, it's gone full circle now as that is how I started going to Cardiff!

Tickets and transport booked! Finally, after a fair few years absence, we are going to go this year...so looking forward to it.

I went as a Billy no mates again tonight....I was not a happy bunny come the end and my sarcasm came out in my texts. Fortunately, or unfortunately which ever way you like the Updates, some of those comments did not reach the actual update template. It was so nice to see my plea answered for someone to fetch me a cup of tea, mummy Worrall is a very nice lady indeed.

Really trying to be there for it this year, although it would have to be accompanied by my wheelchair and someone to push the begger! Feel quite uncomfortable about that to be honest, I rarely take the chair to speedway (done it once at Lakeside) and it does involve extra work to be able to do the day. We will see though, got to arrange transport and tickets first!

My problem is that I actually want to watch it at the same time it is being broadcast....but then I also want to go to the meeting. Recording it is an option but only if I stay away from here, Facebook and more importantly, Updates until Saturday (no chance to watch it until then)...and I am not sure people would be that chuffed if meetings have not been covered for tomorrow. Still not decided....

For me, I just love the World Cup, doesn't matter who is in it. The World Cup is the one Speedway related thing I watch all the meetings for, always have since they have been televised. Televised league meetings, even the GPs, I can take it or leave it (haven't watched a Sky league meeting for quite a few years now) but not the World Cup....and especially not a race off meeting which includes Team GB, no matter how large or small their chances are of getting through.

Very tempting...or is Newcastle doing their own? Their updates are brilliant.
