  1. I can't remember what you said SCB,if you only made a point about the SWC, fair enough, although the promotion were led to believe by people from the council that it would be built by then. However, there were those who said it would never be built and those are the people with egg on their faces. Speedway seems to be dogged by nerdowells and pessimists.
  2. Can understand that. Hull could make Leicester look like a racers track.
  3. We're getting a brand new stadium with 21st century facilities and a track that we hope will provide much better racing. Most of us realise it has to be paid for and are prepared to pay a bit extra for our new surroundings. Those who want to pay about the same as at the dog track have the option to stand on the terracing.
  4. Too many riders don't want to race here on a Monday because of racing in Poland on Sunday and Sweden on Tuesday. Both Belle Vue and Wolverhampton have said so in the past. Monday is out if you want the top riders back and fixed nights for the EL. Personally, I'm not convinced the top riders will return until we can match the money offered abroad or, until that money dries up. I can see that initially some top riders might increase crowds but the novelty soon wears off. If they were the answer than crowds would not have dropped so dramatically in the 90's and 2000'S before they disappeared. The answer to survival is more likely to be found in a properly governed sport with more professional presentation, fewer guest riders ,a properly organised fixture list and riders that develop and stay with a team for more than one season.
  5. However, it does say the SCB are investigating it. Why would they do that? Perhaps it will be like the Poole V Lakeside investigation.
  6. Let's hope so. We can't afford to lose a club like Coventry. If it's only news of a site things would have to move very quickly for everything to be ready for 2017.
  7. Brought a tear to my eye. I think Matt should have that printed out and hand a copy to every supporter at the first match next season. Well done Starman, obviously a sincere and deserving tribute. It will mean so much more to the management coming from such an erudite supporter. The only thing I could add is that I am sure that Matt and Middlo are also kind to animals and elderly people.
  8. I thought the referee said to Mark Lemon that he hadn't noticed Newman had no goggles on, not that he didn't know about the rule.
  9. If the referee failed to spot it before the start of the race but then saw it during the race Newman would have been disqualified and his points discounted. It wouldn't have been restarted with him on 15m. According to Mark Lemon he spoke to the referee after the heat. That is when the referee should have looked at a replay.
  10. I wouldn't refer to it as a cheat. It was in clear breach of the rules and I doubt anyone would argue that if the referee had noticed it during or, immediately after the race, he would have disqualified Newman and deducted his points. I have seen it happen when a rider raced without a dirt deflector.
  11. I heard he drove past the stadium three weeks before the meeting or, if not him it was someone who once met him. Sounds convincing to me.
  12. Probably the most openly committed to the club since Alan Wilkinson but PC and Mort would take some beating for loyalty as well.
  13. You don't get it do you. Sorry if your comments offended some, pathetic. You clearly identified Cook without having to name him. You didn't have to mention the tittle tattle you had heard, you chose to do so knowing it could besmirch the reputation of a rider who had just given 110% for his club. You say it was a shame to hear it but nonetheless you felt you had to publish it to a wider audience. Looks like Poole have one less decent supporter than I thought.
  14. I thought better of you but was obviously very mistaken. Such rumours are often heard when riders are beaten so easily . Many of the best have had to suffer similar jealousy. It tells us a lot about those who make up and those who repeat such rumours. If they had any courage they wouldn't be muttering behind peoples backs but making their accusations openly to the proper authorities. To add that "apparently similar comments at Somerset" shows the depths to which some will sink to try to add to their rumour mongering. Most Aces fans have been gracious in defeat, it's a pity some still feel the need to be malicious even in victory.
  15. Congratulations to Poole, worthy Champions. The Aces showed tremendous fighting spirit in both legs and I suspect surprised many, including Poole, by keeping the overall score so close. Our 1-5 easily outscored their Poole counterparts. The future is looking bright as we prepare to move into the new stadium. Well done to all of the riders involved in two excellent meetings. A particular well done to Cookie who showed his true ability. Many just look at his age and still don't appreciate that his progress has been dramatic when you realise he has only been riding for 6/7 years. Far less than many EL Draft Riders. If the points limit stays the same we can track the same 1-5 next year.
  16. I think you've just motivated your two pet hates, Zagar and Cook.
  17. Most and certainly I accept it was a mistake, not the fault of Poole or Belle Vue but the referee. None of that alters the position that a safety rule was broken and as a result the rider concerned should be excluded. That is not making anything up, he rode in contravention of the rules, therfore he rode illegally. Belle Vue have done exactly what Poole would have done if the roles were reversed. If that motivates Poole, as Skidder1 seems to think, then so be it but I would have thought they had particular reason at the moment to support anyone trying to ensure that safety is paramount.
  18. I understand why some think he should keep the points and his determination to race shows his commitment to his club. However, an important safety rule was broken and he should have been excluded in accordance with the regulations. Any other result makes the authorities complicit in ignoring their own rules.
  19. http://www.bellevueaces.co/newsitem.aspx?id=1563 SCB now investigating the heat 12 incident.
  20. @lilliputhealth That'll be the little people then, they should be able to work their magic.
  21. It was a shame about the initial difficulties with the track but eventually we saw some good racing and a fight back from the Aces to claw back the deficit. It certainly shows this side won't accept defeat easily. Zagar, Cook and Nicholls were excellent. No problems for me with the exclusions, Poole did a professional job, albeit the score for the respective 1-5's was 43- 28. I'm not going to criticise our reserves, they have done well for us all year and it was just unfortunate that their lack of experience of such a big meeting may have affected their performance, likewise Max Fricke. Well done to Poole. I am sure they would have settled for a draw before the meeting but must be disappointed to have squandered a good lead. It's not over yet. Poole are in the driving seat but this Aces side will give 100% and it may be a closer meeting than some think.
  22. Travellodge. I think you might have been scammed. There is of course Travelodge but in fact the closest to the stadium is the Diamond Lodge almost opposite the stadium.
  23. Back to tonight. I hear the Poole fans are on their way. The motor bike and side car have left. Ford is riding the bike with Middlo in the side car. Starman was going to ride on the pillion but strangely they set off 15 minutes early and he missed them.
  24. Likewise, let's hope for a meeting without controversy, a well prepared track, no injuries and the better team coming out on top. Any Poole fans making the trip might want to take part in the heat 16 for Darcy. Everyone can walk the track for the last ever time and then put into the collection for Darcy.
