Good news for the Robins and when the new stadium is built they will have excellent facilities to attract new fans. -
Could Woffy Be Making An El Return?
Aces51 replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I am not at all anti Tai. I would prefer a British World Champion to race in the EL and the British Final but it is for him to decide where he wants to ride and I understand anybody deciding to chase the money. However, I don't agree with those who see his demands for a fixed night and fewer meetings as purely for the benefit of British speedway and consequently, the fans. It certainly doesn't suit me to have even fewer EL matches and I suspect I'm not alone. I want more matches and if that means no Tai and some other GP riders then so be it. I see his motives here as purely selfish, wanting British speedway to accommodate what suits him and other riders of a similar mind. In any event I am not even convinced it will bring significant numbers back unless money the EL cannot afford is on offer. Similarly, I don't see his training sessions as being anything other than an opportunity to make money. I don't blame him for that, I simply disagree with those who see it as Tai giving something back or doing it for entirely altruistic motives. If he does it for free or for cost then I shall change my opinion, admit I am wrong in this regard and agree with those who see his actions as commendable. -
Pleased to see we've now got a fixture this week after the two Bank Holiday postponements. Very good of Mildenhall to agree to the change of date at such short notice. Should be a good crowd for the opening meeting at the NSS,.

Looks like they might have the same problem with their away fixtures. -
Belle Vue Vs King's Lynn May 2nd

It's not that clubs are scared to run it's that the bikes used today are unable to cope with anything less than near perfect conditions. If we want to return to the days when riders could handle grippy tracks and wet tracks then bikes have to change. It's not as If we don't know the type of bikes needed but of course that is much simpler said than done. -

I think I'd rather have the new stadium and see those meetings when they are rearranged. -

You have to despair. Explanations have been given as to why the covers are not yet available and yet people continue to post as if nothing has been said. An experienced and reputable company has been given the contact and understandably wanted to come and measure the track themselves before making the covers. Imagine the comments if the covers arrived, based on the original technical drawings and didn't fit. There are people on social media making the same silly comments, one is even blaming Belle Vue because the stadium does not have a retractable roof. -

Now on Belle Vue website. . "Due to persistent heavy rain and a poor forecast for tomorrow, Belle Vue's Bank Holiday match against King's Lynn has been postponed" Didn't see the above posts. A sensible decision rather than leave it until tomorrow. -

Surely, better to wait and be certain of the track measurements once the fence and airfence were installed. I can't imagine the covers are going to be cheap and the last thing anyone would want would be for the covers not to fit exactly. Wisest course must be to let let the company making them do their own measuring. -

The forecast is still looking bad particularly for a12 noon start. Unfortunately, the stock cars have had bank holiday meetings for many years and presumably the Council gave them priority. They may well have had their meeting arranged long before the speedway fixtures, I don't know. Belle Vue originally planned a 1pm start but had to bring it forward because of potential traffic chaos if fans for both events were arriving at the same time. Apparently, the stock cars don't finish until about 9pm so that rules out moving our meeting to later in the day when the rain is forecast to have stopped. -

Always look on the bright side. You could end up with a unique collection of tickets to matches you didn't attend. -

The forecast for tomorrow and Monday morning is not looking good at the moment. I could start to believe there's a massive conspiracy to stop us racing at the NSS but how has Matt Ford done it? It must be him because people keep telling me he is responsible for everything that goes wrong. -

Or maybe you haven't got my reply. You may have some excuse I suppose as my edit, the last line, was posted at the same time as your post thinking it is a whoosh. As you know I always like to be fair and consider all the facts. -

The 21st century. Not really much difference though if buy your ticket on the day at the Ticket Office and then walk to the ticket barriers, similar to the underground barriers, which read the bar code on your ticket and open automatically or, you can buy your ticket online or, now, online and print it off yourself. The future is here, the future is red white and black. -
Could Woffy Be Making An El Return?
Aces51 replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think that is too simplistic. I agree that the schedule is the major reason given both in terms of fixed nights and the number of matches. However, I suspect that a package which was significantly more lucrative than Poland or Sweden would soon see a change of mind from at least some of these riders. -

Aces51 replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not to do with Tai specifically, but I hope the BSPA do not pander to the demands of some of the GP riders and reduce even further the number of EL meetings. I believe that the huge gaps in the current fixture list is one of many reasons for the dramatic drop in attendance. It has been said many times and is true that once fans get out of the habit of going every week they soon find other things to do. -
Good news, he's not going to stay for the whole season and will miss some matches but at least it solves the immediate problem.

Does the Pope know about this family of complete virgins? Well done to you and everyone else who are actually doing something helpful and constructive to raise the profile of your team. So good to see after all the doom and gloom we seem to get on the BSF. Also good to see that you've now got permanent planning consent.

The track is ready but the weather forecasts for today and tomorrow doesn't make it look hopeful that the match will be on. No idea how the Colts will do, not followed NL since our last involvement. Just hoping that the forecasts are wrong and that we at last get some speedway at the NSS.

I travel about 90 miles to Belle Vue. There are closer tracks but I've always supported the Aces.

One of them had. I heard him crowing about it. Said he had to fly, going to buy one of those wulfsport jackets with the money.
