  1. I can't imagine Belle Vue supporters approving of any such meeting if it did not benefit Alan Wilkinson.
  2. So if you're right they're wholly to blame for the fiasco. No professional organisation planning a meeting with an expected big crowd and riders and fans travelling long distances would hope the track would have had long enough time dry. They would test it and make sure it had. Holder is telling us that it was obvious there were problems on the track walk so the promoters, even with a quick inspection, could have known early enough to prevent at least some fans traveling and certainly before taking the money at the turnstiles.
  3. Chris has been involved with the Aces for much of his life either as a fan, a rider or, a promoter. Philip Rising has previously explained that Chris very much wants to continue to be involved and so is unlikely to be making public statements.I would guess that he also has to consider anything he might say in the context of the threatened legal proceedings. The new promotion were very complimentary about the help he has given them and the concensus of opinion of those fans I speak to is that they would like to see him have a future role with the club. The whole truth may come out one day but I don't want or need Chris to have to make some sort of public apology. His commitment to the club is beyond doubt and I am sure that he would not have deliberately done anything to harm it. That is good enough for me.
  4. The weather wasn't to blame. It was known that there were spongy patches earlier in the week. The mistake was in not ensuring those patches had dried out and the responsibility for that lies squarely with the promoters.
  5. As had been explained people are not necessarily asking for a full refund and some will not bother to claim it if it becomes available. If it turns out that the fund raising effort was a waste of time then at least place the blame where it belongs. That is not on those who feel entitled to a refund, because the promised event for which they paid was not delivered but on the Poole promoters who knew there were problems with the track but decided not to postpone it and to take the risk that it would have dried out in time for the meeting. They are 100% to blame for the fiasco and must bear the responsibility.
  6. Stoke Potter, I hope you can appreciate that the new promotion have been in place for only 5 weeks and have had many issues to sort out to get the stadium and teams ready for the new season in that short period of time. The new promotion did not have to honour the outstanding tickets for the Peter Craven meeting but have decided to do so. The contact email addresses for everyone at Belle Vue are on the website. I do not know which address you sent your email to or when you sent it but I would suggest you send another email to the CEO, Adrian Smith. I know that people have been getting replies but that some have not. The ticket office was opened last weekend specifically for people to exchange their tickets and that was advertised on the official website but I can understand that may not have been helpful to you. I hope you are able to get it sorted out.
  7. Knowing earlier in the week that there were spongy patches any professional promotion, certainly one putting the interests of fans first, would have tested the track to ensure that they had dried out. Either they didn't bother or failed to test it properly.
  8. At least Belle Vue had the excuse of not knowing about the problems with the track base. I understand that Chapman was in the process of drafting a press release condemning the promotion for this disaster, explaining that it was entirely their fault, nothing at all to do with the BSPA and that he is launching an immediate investigation. That was untill he realised he had misheard, he thought someone said it was a meeting at Belle Vue. 😂 Silence will speak volumes.
  9. I'm not sure what Speedway Star can do to help. They post them and then it's beyond their control. When notified of late or none delivery they can complain but realistically cannot force Royal Mail to do anything about it. My experience over many years is that about 90% of the time it is delivered on a Thursday, 9% on a Friday and 1%, about once every couple of years, it is delivered on the following Monday or Tuesday or, not delivered at all. A call to the magazine has always been dealt with politely and efficiently and a new copy has been delivered to me, usually the next day.
  10. With all the things needing to be organised in the short time since they took over I doubt they've had time yet to be thinking of sponsors. Mark Lemon has said there just aren't enough hours in the day at the moment. This is a steep learning curve for the new owners and CEO. I should think they will want to ensure that everything is running smoothly before they start trying to get sponsors interested. At least we've got Rentruck and Coolrunning, presumably as the team sponsors.
  11. You'll be telling us next that you've not heard of "as long as a piece of spring"
  12. I think Grand Central was being facetious. The latest article by Philip Rising in the SS is in response to the report submitted to MCC and quotes what David Gordon told the Manchester Evening News. However, he wants time to digest the 16 page council report before making a detailed response. The article comments on some of the details of the MCC report, which is published in full in Speedway Xtra for those who have not read it on the Council website.
  13. I agree with Ford's stand. However, it is much easier to do it with a rider like Jack Holder, who may not even get a ride in Poland and who is likely, at this point in his career, to earn far more in the UK, than it would be, for example, with Chris Holder, who is likely to ride fir his team in every Polish fixture and earn considerably more there. Again, at the moment, Chris is a much bigger draw card here than Jack and much more difficult to replace. If we are going to make a stand I think we should have agreed it before team building began and not signed riders who were going to be affected by the Polish restriction nor any Polish riders.
  14. How many rides is Jack Holder likely to get in Poland?
  15. If you truly want consistency the the only way it can be achieved is by a proper interpretation and application of the rules. Obviously the intent is that, when applicable, MA's should be calculated in accordance with 16.2.3,then published. If a mistake is made on the published list consistency is achieved by correcting the list not by identifying a mistake but doing nothing to put it right.
  16. Sounds like Matt Ford is working hard to persuade his cohorts that 16.2.3 doesn't apply to team building figures. Fear is always a good motivator. 😓
  17. Because Mr.Rossiter decided that Bellego is a better option. Either a stroke of genius or madness. Time will tell but I know where my money is.
  18. Using the above formula Belle Vue is 23.89 metres/second.
  19. You paid more to sit in the home straight stand at Hyde Road, you didn't pay extra at the dog track and now we pay more to sit in the grandstand at the NSS. We couldn't afford the extra at Hyde Road but fortunately I can now at the NSS and I am more than happy to pay it for the facilities and quality of racing on offer. The exception at Hyde Road was when the second division was formed and you could sit by the starting gate without paying more. Funnily enough, they now only open the grandstand at the NSS for national league meetings so no extra charge and what excellent value they are. £10, £8 for concessions and under 18's free. I really hope that work does soon start at Swindon and that you get a brilliant race track.
  20. Fricke mainly missed our re-arranged Wednesday meetings because his Danish fixtures on their original date had preference. That is a rule which applies for fixture clashes in leagues in different countries caused when a meeting is re-arranged and indeed for clashes here between Premiership and Championship clubs. The top Polish league is not only forcing riders to restrict how many teams they can sign for but also insisting that they ride for their Polish club whenever there is a clash.
  21. I agree he's got talent and is likely to improve but I think Bjerre as a second string is the best option. One of the few riders in the 8 plus band who can maintain or improve his average but of course he isn't signed yet. As a matter of principle I wouldn't sign any Pole until their authorities change their attitude to other leagues. Not just the stipulation about the number leagues riders can ride in but the way they have previously called riders back at short notice even for practice. We can manage without their riders and should do so until they start to cooperate with the rest of the speedway world.
  22. I agree and of course injuries can play a big part but at the moment we can only look at teams as they are or, in the case of Belle Vue, what might be. I think our season could be determined by the progress made by our reserves. They are both outstanding prospects but we shall have to see how that is translated into points. I think they will need time to settle, particularly away but will both do their job and improve as the season goes on.
  23. Cook, Worrall, Bewley, Smith, has he taken out British citizenship. 🤔 Sedgman is potentially an excellent signing on his current average and certainly could be one of the best second strings in the league. If we now get Fricke and Bjerre we are certainly a play off side with lots of potential for improvement as the season progresses.
  24. Skidder 1, you provided the link above but omitted that it also includes any rider who has achieved a Championship average of 4. I am assuming that references to the Premiership and Championship include averages achieved in the Elite and Premier leagues. Otherwise, nobody would qualify this year so the rule would be unnecessary. Of course a professionally drafted rule book would make clear that the references to the the Premiership and Championship included MA's achieved in the Elite and Premier.
  25. I thought that was deliberate for the benefit of Poole. 🤔 At least Buster is on the case. I know he promised a new simplified rule book for this year but he has had a busy winter. Maybe next year then.
