Poole Pirates Vs Wolverhampton Wolves 7/6/17
Aces51 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
On his last visit to the NSS Klindt scored 6 from 7 rides, Bates 9 from 7 rides. Facts don't seem to be your strong point. -
Congratulations to Somerset. It looks as if I was right, their reserves outscored ours 18-3 although I was wrong about it being close overall. I thought the difference in the reserve scores might have been about 10, not 15.
-
Our problem is going to be the difference in the scores of the reserves. I think our 1-5 will score more than their opposite numbers but overall could be a close match.
-
I think you may have forgotten a Fred(erik) closer to home.

Cradley V Belle Vue Tpnl 29/5/17 @ Monmore Wood
Aces51 replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
Both Lee Payne and Rob Shuttleworth suffered injuries last night riding for their Championship sides. Hopefully, both will be ok for this match and to race at Mildenhall today. Edited to add that both Lee as Rob are not fit enough to ride at Mildenhall but no indication yet as the extent of their injuries. -
He was going to go to Belle Vue, Wolves wanted to do a straight swap with Simon Stead but the Aces said no. Perhaps not the best decision ever made. I bet Freddie still regrets it every time he visits the NSS and sees what could have been.😂😂

Belle Vue V Swindon Friday 19th May
Aces51 replied to STEPHEN 333's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A good performance from Swindon and they deserved their point. Doyle was in a class of his own and Morris and Bellegoboth showed how they have improved. The grippier track made passing more difficult in the earlier races although it obviously suited Steve Worral. Cook was unhappy with his engine but overall a good solid performance from all of the Aces. Smith may not have scored many points but was in the mix and as others have said his race with Zach showed he is coming out of his recent poor spell. 3 more points in the bag but now another long gap until the next Aces home meeting on the 9th June. -

Also, with Matt Williamson guesting at reserve there is every chance that their reserves will outscore ours. An Aces win with Bjerre back in the fold but looking forward to another exciting match. -

Reported here. http://www.newcastlediamonds.co/news/article.asp?id=100711 Interesting that the BSPA made their decision for the good of the sport. So far as I know Worrall is a Belle Vue asset, which would mean that Neil Vatcher made his decision in accordance with the rules. If that is correct then what on earth do the BSPA think they were doing. When will they learn that you can't ignore the rules when you think it suits, not if you want the sport to have any credibility and how did they think their decision was in any way in the interests of Belle Vue. -
Good to see the new management being proactive and advertising on the Manchester Evening News website home page. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk

Belle Vue V Somerset - 1/5/17 , 12pm
Aces51 replied to WestGorton1884's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If there's no cooperation we just use the Matt Ford rules. It would be unfair on the Aces fans to run a meeting with a sub standard team so we cancel the meeting well in advance. Apparently, nothing anyone could do about it. 🤔 -
Kings Lynn Stars Vs Leicester 10/05/17
Aces51 replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Belle Vue show their after meeting press conference live on their Facebook page. It means that fans like me who have a long journey home or, those who don't want to stay for whatever reasons can watch it whenever we choose. It costs nothing to film and is good PR. -
The difference at Belle Vue was the absence of Bjerre, an off night for our reserves and most importantly, a superb performance from Tungate. It looks as if that might have been a one off for Tungate and looking at the other factors I can only see a comfortable win for Wolves.

Somerset V Wolves Friday 5th May 19;30
Aces51 replied to Wolfsbane's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Steve, nothing wrong with team changes, what is wrong is when riders are brought in on an old or assessed average that does not reflect their current form. We could easily have a fair and transparent system by working out a formula to convert current foreign league averages to Premiership or Championship averages. I understand that you are in favour of bringing in some of those riders who have deserted the UK. I have nothing against that when they are prepared to commit to a full season here but don't want to see them here when they are just using the UK because their season has effectively finished in Poland and/or Sweden. On a different topic it is good to see that fans again enjoyed the quality of racing at Somerset. If the sport is to thrive all tracks should be doing their utmost to produce the best racing track they can. -

Perhaps more realistic to say that the only thing that matters is being in the top 4 and being in a position to make team changes. Preferably, to be able to bring in someone on an old CMA that doesn't reflect their current better form or, for an off form rider to be "injured" and replaced by horses for courses guests or a better rider. The new rules for this year might prevent the former but probably not the latter. -

Congratulations to Somerset on a deserved win. Tungate and the reserves made the difference with Bewley and Smith having an off day. All part of the learning curve and to be expected at their stage of development. Good to see a group of Somerset fans made the long journey and hope they enjoyed it. -

That's fine, that's all any of us can do. I read your original post to mean you had made a decision not to attend because Bjerre and Hougaard are absent. Apologies if I misunderstood. -

Aces51 replied to WestGorton1884's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
12 of the 14 expected riders will be there and we know from the Peter Craven meeting and the match against Leicester that a field with not as many top riders as we might hope for can still produce good racing at the NSS. I shall certainly be there. I am sure it will be a good meeting and after the worries of last winter we need to be supporting the club to ensure, as best we can, that our new owners can see it is going to be commercially viable. -
Have faith. Poole might get to another play of final, never say never.😂

I think much depends on Tungate. On current form he won't trouble us but if he can find his form of last year it will be closer. Either way I don't see Somerset picking up any league points. -

Wolves V King's Lynn 1st May 6.00 Pm
Aces51 replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I have made numerous visits to Wolverhampton over many years and have only once been faced with a group of abusive fans and that was about 10 years ago. Normally, you can have a bit of friendly chat and banter. Every team has its share of idiot fans. I find that if you are unfortunate enough to find yourself by them just move and stand somewhere else. Unfortunately, like many teams these days, my recent experience of Monmore Green is that there were plenty of gaps in the crowd on the home straight terraces so moving wouldn't be a problem. -
Team And Riders, Points Changeover ?
Aces51 replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Once he has a proper Premiership average there will have to be a multiplier applied to convert that average to the lower standard in the Championship. If we agree that 1.4 was the correct multiplier to reflect the historical difference between the Elite and Premier leagues then the multiplier will be less than 1.4 to reflect the smaller difference that now exists between the two leagues. To allow a Premiership rider to race in the Championship on his Premiership average would only be right if there were no difference at all in standard between the two leagues. -
Congratulations to Robert Lambert. It's good to see a young Brit who looks as if he has the skill and talent to progress to the top of the sport. It is also encouraging that we now seen to have a few other young Brits who are not too far behind him.

Ok, I was going to offer you an upgrade but as you're not interested I'll have to return it to the showroom. 😂
