As a footnote to this crash. Was this the most expensive mistake made by a referee this year and maybe going back for some time? It almost certainly cost us a place in the final, which we may have won and the revenue lost to the club, with a likely crowd of at least 3500 at the NSS.
-
I have no doubt at all that it was an honest mistake by the referee. What was so shocking was that I and many others in the stadium saw and said at the time what is now confirmed by the video. It wasn't even a difficult decision to get right.

Wolves -v Belle Vue 10th/11th October Ko Cup Final
Aces51 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I certainly don't see it as meaningless and wouldn't do if I were a Wolves supporter. I can say that from the experience of 2005 when we topped the league, Bjerre was injured and the rules didn't allow us to replace him. We lost in the play off final but won the KO Cup. It didn't make up for losing the play offs, far from it, because that is the most important competition but it is a genuine trophy and the second most important to win. Many Wolves fans thought it was going to be a walkover for Swindon but it wasn't, far from it and with a decent guest and the same fighting spirit who knows what can be achieved. I hope we get two good meetings with no bad incidents on track or on the terraces. No doubt some of the idiots from both clubs will be there but we need the overwhelming number of decent fans from both teams to make their presence felt and let the few idiots know they are not welcome. I think the best way is not to react to them, ignore them and if necessary let the security people deal with them. -
I understand from a usually unreliable source that he was pleading for a team place for next year but was told to come back in a couple of years when he has improved. I can see they were just trying to be kind to him but they should have told him straight out that he's just not eligible to ride for the Colts.
-
Bjerre is our best rider at the NSS and because it is such a fair track, where many riders enjoy racing, we need a rider like Bjerre to give us a better chance of winning at home. I've not seen any visitor at Belle Vue this year that I didn't feel Bjerre was capable of beating.

Check out @kenneth_bjerres Tweet: https://twitter.com/kenneth_bjerre/status/911483017092370433?s=09 We've had a few decent meetings in very wet conditions at the NSS this year involving both the Aces and the Colts. Riders seem prepared to give it a go and race, maybe because of the wide open spaces.

Premiership Grand Final 2nd Leg - Wolves Vs Swindon 4 Oct
Aces51 replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I hope we get two decent meetings and you will have a wider choice of guests. However, I do understand that it is nigh on impossible to replace Lindgren at Monmore but you can try and get a NSS specialist for the other leg. -
Premiership Grand Final 2nd Leg - Wolves Vs Swindon 4 Oct
Aces51 replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think you'll find it's often Wolves supporters on here that keep resurrecting it, especially trying to blame Aces riders for the unfortunate accidents. It doesn't matter now why we lost or how fair or otherwise it was, we lost, we weren't in the final and most of us have moved on. My concern is that things are calmed down before we meet in the KO Cup. -

So you thought the best course of action was to join in and write another goading post yourself! We need either to ignore these idiots and Wolves fans have also been disgraceful on social media, or make sensible and reasoned posts to calm down the situation. With the likelihood of both teams meeting in the KO Cup the last thing Speedway needs is people trying to further inflame the situation. Suggesting that Belle Vue riders are to blame for the unfortunate injuries to Lindgren and Thorssell isn't going to help. Back on topic. Even though I wanted Swindon to win after finishing top of the league table you have to feel for Wolves but at least their fans can take a lot of pride in the fact that their decimated team fought hard and did remarkably well to lose by a single point. -
Premiership Grand Final 2nd Leg - Wolves Vs Swindon 4 Oct
Aces51 replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
There are Aces and Wolves fans who are a disgrace to their clubs with their behaviour and comments on social media. Fortunately, they are very few in number. Despite the question marks you are again risking inflaming the situation by suggesting that Aces riders took out your top 2. Just as you did with your post claiming that Belle Vue had a deliberate plan to injure Wolves riders. The situation with Thorssell is seen by many as a 50/50 situation and as Adams said, it was a racing accident. Unfortunately, Lindgren was wholly at fault for his accident. The video evidence shown by BT. Particularly the clip shown when Tatum was discussing it with Natalie Quirks shows that clearly and as Tatum commented, Bjerre had nowhere to go. What is needed are the voices of moderation and common sense on both sides. We know the overwhelming majority of fans of both clubs are well behaved, decent people. It doesn't help when sensible fans from either team try to stoke the fires. -
Premiership Grand Final 2nd Leg - Wolves Vs Swindon 4 Oct
Aces51 replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You have to feel sorry for Wolves, especially only losing by one point but Swindon topped the league table and deserved to win. Not many expected them to win at Wolves because of their home advantage but they never gave up and just about did it in the end. The track was well prepared, the racing wasn't brilliant but it was ok and the closeness of the score and tense atmosphere made good viewing. A special mention for Nathan Greaves who showed what he is capable of achieving. -

I think the word you were searching for isn't big, most might think that notorious is more appropriate. -
Tactical skills can be learned but the motivational skills and respect of the riders that Lemon has are much more difficult to acquire. Many of the junior riders have also gained from his knowledge and advice and that may prove to be of tremendous benefit to Belle Vue in years to come. I doubt you'll find many Aces fans who would want to lose him.
-
No. The difficulty in attracting top riders willing to race in the UK on a Monday was one of the reasons Belle Vue changed to Friday. Wolverhampton have also said the same. We seem to have a good relationship with Denmark and I am sure we could work around each others fixtures. Whatever days we choose the Poles will disregard if it suits them to do so.

Premiership Grand Final 2nd Leg - Wolves Vs Swindon 4 Oct
Aces51 replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If it's a 42 point limit Wolves will have to lose about 5 and a half points from this year's team. Swindon about 4.74 points and Belle Vue 2 points. -
I don't agree that anybody choked. Wolverhampton just did so much better than most expected and deserve all the credit for a remarkable performance. Swindon had one of those nights when they couldn't get their act together and Wolves kept up the pressure to make it harder for them to do so. It's sport, it happens. Suggesting Swindon choked just detracts from Wolves excellent performance.

Premiership Grand Final 2nd Leg - Wolves Vs Swindon 4 Oct
Aces51 replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Wolves definitely deserved that. It would be difficult for Swindon if they had a small lead but with Wolves home advantage they need only show the same commitment and determination again in the second leg and they will be the proud winners of consecutive championships. -
Who knows but with fixed nights it will be easier for him to manage and fit in nicely with Poland and Sweden.

3 years. I'm sure we will but Northerners tend to be more down to earth and not inclined to underestimate human frailties. We don't place absolute faith in any person. A few years ago some did in someone called Ferguson, I think he was something to do with sport but very few of those came from the north.

Poolebolton may have overlooked the first couple of words of the last line but it was all meant. Poole fans do have this optimistic belief and blind faith in their leader. Ideal subjects for one of these religious cults.
-
It's always good to read Poole threads about who they want or have signed for the following season, they're always so optimistic. Whoever they sign is going to be committed to the club, always wanted to ride for them, Middlo will work his magic and they'll make their current dismal performance a temporary blip on their way to the GP, never put off by a poor season because Matt will use his superior team building powers to ensure they're returned to their rightful place and win the play offs. Often deluded but good on yer for having faith.

My Top 20 Riders On Current Form
Aces51 replied to Barrow Boy 2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
In the real world, the official green sheet averages, King isn't in the top 20 in the Premiership but in the top 5 of the Championship. -
Max is certainly improving fast but I think next year may be a bit too soon to achieve No.1 status. He has been on fire since returning from injury but needs to be much more consistent away from home. I'd certainly have him back though.
