Fixed race nights... early indications!!!
Aces51 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sky no longer show any speedway and as BT only normally televise one meeting. Monday may be their night for showing it but one meeting hardly makes it a TV night. Far more important for the survival of the sport is that clubs are able to run on whichever night is the best for them. The facts make clear that isn't Monday otherwise clubs would have been queuing up run on that night before FNR and nearly every club avoided it like the plague. -
Belle Vue v Somerset PL 5th September, 2018
Aces51 replied to Aces51's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This is going to be a difficult meeting for the Aces. Yes, we defeated Wolves relatively easily without Dan Bewley and r/r scoring one point but Somerset are a completely different proposition. They ride well at the NSS and the loss of Dan makes us much weaker. However, this is a must win if we are to get to the play offs and I am sure that Mark Lemon will have everyone fired up. -
Fixed race nights... early indications!!!

Just a self serving comment from Tai. Only one PL team chose to race on a Monday so quite how that makes Monday speedway night shows what a ridiculous comment it was. Monday may be speedway on TV night but that is a different issue. Every team other than Wolverhampton simply fitted in by racing on a Monday when on TV. We should never have agreed or accepted the FIM proposal that included Monday, by far the worst night for getting people out to entertainment events. -
Belle Vue v Somerset PL 5th September, 2018
Aces51 posted a topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This meeting has now been brought forward from the 10th September. A sensible move for both teams rather than risk the chance of rain on the last day before the cut off for the play offs. -
They could have a guest for Schlein and r/r for Howarth.

Swindon v Poole. Prem B. 27/8/18. 7.30pm
Aces51 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That's the difference between Shovlar's world and the world the rest of us live in. -
Maybe because Wolves got 8 points from IRR, which is probably at least as many as Schlein would have scored coming back from injury. Effectively, it was two six man teams. Congratulations to Wolves on their victory and to the Aces on picking up a point. It was a shame to see Thorssell sliding down when he was last in heat 15 when we were on a 4-2 but we know every team has done it. The crash with Schlein and Howarth looked nasty. I hope that both are ok. The loss of Bewley has made us much weaker, particularly at the moment with only Worrall and the reserves able to take his rides. Next week Tungate will also be eligible, which will help but if we get to the play offs and we won't if we don't pick up a point at Swindon and lose at home to Somerset, we are now going to find it difficult but that's speedway.

There was some decent races and considering all of the rain yesterday and this morning the track rode well right from heat 1. Craig Cook was on fire scoring a paid 5 ride maximum. We won relatively easily in the end but we certainly missed Dan with the reserves and Worrall scoring only a solitary point from r/r. This is the latest update on Dan's injuries, taken from the Workington website. "Issued at 15:00hrs on Monday 27th August Following his crash at Workington on Saturday evening Dan Bewley has now had all of his currently planned operations and is now recovering well in Carlisle Infirmary. The doctors have reported that they are very pleased with how everything went. His injuries can now be confirmed as a broken left femur (in five places), a broken upper right arm and a broken left wrist. After being in theatre for seven hours on Sunday he has been 'pinned and plated' and the doctors are looking to get him up on his feet for the first time within the next 24 hours. Dan's spirits remain high and he thanks everyone for their messages of support. Again, we repeat, that Dan's family have politely asked that although everyone is obviously concerned as to Dan's welfare, which is greatly appreciated, that they refrain from contacting the hospital to enquire about his condition. We have spoken with Dan's family, who have promised to keep us updated at regular intervals and we will bring further updates on his condition when we have them. On behalf of Dan and his family we thank-you all for your continued support." Ouch!!!!!

Just the usual rubbish. If we were against Poole SS would be telling us we were stronger with r/r. It's not going to be so easy with only Worrall and the 2 reserves able to take Dan's rides but assuming Riss has recovered, we should have enough to beat Wolves and send them away pointless.
-
The news, whilst not good, is not as bad as I feared. Hopefully, Dan will be fit and well in time for next year.

An update on Dan from the Workington website. http://www.workingtoncomets.co/news/article.asp?id=100991

I agree that any injury should be season ending and in that circumstance I cannot see how he could ride anywhere. Nothing to do with rules or jurisdiction in other countries. The rider wouldn't be physically capable of riding.

I've posted this in the Aces v Wolves thread in the PL section but it may be of interest to anyone going to Torun. Craig Cook has tweeted, "Love this sport but not when one of my mates gets a bad knock.@DanBewley is made of tough stuff though. He is going to need help in his recovery. I am putting up 4 pit passes for the final GP at Torun. Highest bid wins. All monies to my marra. Come on let’s get behind this kid."

I hope it raises lots of money and that we have a collection at the meeting tomorrow.

Unfortunately, not. Dan is third in our averages for this year but only fifth in the rolling averages, moving to fourth on the 1st September.

It is being reported by Rybnik on Twitter that Dan had an operation on his leg at 1.00am this morning. I hope that it was successful and that Dan has a full and speedy recovery.

Leicester Lions V Kings Lynn Stars TV Meeting 27:08:2018
Aces51 replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sky TV and BT Sport Guides still showing it as the Leicester meeting. Wolves v Aces is an 8pm start so either BT or Wolves would have to change their programme schedule or the meeting start time. -
King's Lynn v Wolves 22/08/18 DOUBLE HEADER
Aces51 replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No, he has a very good CMA this year albeit bolstered by a high home average, which is over 2.3 points higher than his away average. -

Somerset v Poole Prem B. 20/8/18
Aces51 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If we get there I fancy our chances with Steve Worrall getting back to form, two decent reserves and Bewley improving all the time. The wins at Somerset and Swindon have shown what we are capable of doing. -
The BSPA do not understood the importance of being open and transparent, even though Chapman offered it as one of his priorities. It may be different if the sport was going from strength to strength but when it is in such obvious difficulties they desperately need the current fan base to remain loyal and a history of poor decision making and silence only alienates many of those still remaining. Silence and their previous record leaves a vacuum for rumour and creates a belief that either they cannot see the many problems or are bereft of ideas to solve them. If they really do want to get out of the current mess they are going to have to carry the fans with them and that means making them feel valued and involved. There are many companies and organisations who think it necessary to use focus groups and to survey their customers. They understand the importance of discovering what they think of current products or services and of assessing their reaction to changes they are considering making. The BSPA needs to realise that, despite what they may think, we all want the same thing and that is for speedway to prosper and grow. At the end of the day they will not be handing over any power and they would no doubt get lots of impractical suggestions but there would also be sound and sensible ideas. It would certainly help them avoid some of the silly rule changes, those where people on here have immediately identified the flaws and which the BSPA have, sooner or later, had to abandon.

Realistically you need to pick up 2 away points assuming that BelleVue don't lose at home and don't pick up any more away points. Wolves could also get into the play offs if they pick up at least 2 away points but again depending on Belle Vue and Swindon's results.

Exactly my thoughts. Some brilliant racing, Andersen and Auty impressive for the Lions and Mountain showing how much he has progressed, on the pace and a good ride to pass and beat Riss. All of the Aces fighting for every point. Bewley, still only in his third year, so fast and brilliant in the way he stalked and passed Andersen in heat 15. Worrall showing he is getting back to his pre injury form. Berge doing everything we hoped he would at the NSS.

It's not raining at the moment and the Sky doesn't look as if rain is imminent. The ground is dry. Met Office not forecasting any rain.
