I'm sure there are still plenty of bricks available for those who really want to show their support. 🏁

So after 7 years of hard work and against all expectations Belle Vue achieve something which may just help to save this sport we love. It will provide modern facilities that might just encourage newcomers to return and properly structured training facilities to encourage British talent and you want the council to pull the plug. If everyone had that attitude the sport really would be doomed. As for the pathetic comment about fact finding missions, only a fool would embark on such a major project without doing as much research as possible.

Apart from the cost of building a stadium with permanent seating and terracing for 15,000 plus, the main purpose of the stadium is as a home for the Aces. Given the likely crowds, what would be the point of a stadium where 2000 spectators would make it look empty and the atmosphere would be zero? The compromise is what we shall have, a regular capacity of 6,000 with the ability to increase it to a level more than sufficient for, SWC, ELRC, British Finals. In fact many GP's attract less than 15,000. It is sad that some of those who thought it would never be built still feel the need to snipe. They are just making themselves look foolish, be better if they could find the courage to admit they were wrong.

I think you will find they all do have 20th century facilities but got stuck in the 1950's.

Humphrey, if you understand why it is being called the National Stadium then what is your concern. So far as I know there is no BSPA funding but it will undoubtedly be given preference for major meetings simply because the likes of BSI, Sky, Eurosport and the BSPA will see and want the advantage of showing off some of their prestigious events in the only speedway stadium in the UK that will have 21st century facilities. As for stock cars, the present promotion say definitely not.

This is a fantastic day for speedway in Britain and particularly for Belle Vue. David Gordon and Chris Morton have achieved what no other promoters have had either the vision or skill to achieve in bringing this project to the stage where planning permission was granted unanimously. This is going to be the first purpose built speedway stadium in a built up area close to a major city centre for very many years. The facilities far outstrip anything presently available for regular racing. All of the finance is in place and the contractors are ready to start work. We all know it has taken longer than anyone, including the Belle Vue management, hoped. The reality is that whatever they have said was based on time estimates they were given by those who supposedly were experienced in these matters but who now cares? The fact is that there may still be delays but David Gordon and Chris Morton will do what they have done throughout and show the expertise and determination which has moved on this project from what many would have regarded as a hopeless cause, to now being a short step from reality.

Now that sadly the Birmingham results have had to be removed and taking account of points lost at home against points won away the current league table is; Kings Lynn +16 Coventry. + 6 Poole. + 4 Belle Vue. + 1 Eastbourne - 1 Lakeside - 1 Swindon. - 2 Wolverhampton - 7 Leicester. -12

Speedway referees are no different than referees in any other sport. By the nature of what the referee is there to do fans will always disagree with their decisions. Being human referees in all sports will make mistakes but football referees send players off and I see no reason why speedway referees should not do the same and exclude a rider from the remainder of a match for a blatantly dangerous move. Being excluded from a match twice in a season could result in a longer ban. Fortunately, such blatantly dangerous moves are rare. I witness very very few during a typical season. Those who defend Pedersen and cite incidents involving other riders forget the most important point. Pedersen has a long and continuing history of involvement in such incidents. No other modern day rider gets even close to matching him.

Which Clubs Allow Fans Into The Pits?
Aces51 replied to Sophies Mate's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Belle Vue allow access. I think up to 30 minutes before the start. -
In fact the MEN article from 2013 you copied refers to the construction company, ISG, anticipating the stadium would be ready in 2014. They are obviously experienced in these matters so it is hardly unreasonable that the Belle Vue promotion thought the same. What you seem to fail to grasp is that the development includes much more than the stadium and no matter what Belle Vue do they are also dependent on others, including the council, doing what they have to do. There was also the minor matter of the covenant that was only discovered during due diligence, that required a significant redrawing of the stadium plans. Perhaps, it might help determine the value of your contributions on this topic if you were to enlighten us as to your relevant experience and qualifications in dealing with such matters. You could also explain your justification for your comment that Gordon and Morton are clowns and apparently unfit to run the new stadium when it is built.
-
So on the one hand, we have Arthur Cross. We have no idea if he has any experience whatsoever in these matters but he feels suitably qualified to call David Gordon and Chris Morton clowns, apparently based on some unspecified dealings he had with them. On the other hand we know that David Gordon is an extremely successful businessman who, with Chris Morton, had the vision and ability to persuade Manchester City Council to support and largely fund the new stadium. Not only that but also to gain the support and financial backing of a number of very high profile and respected business people who have known David Gordon for some time. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=74455&page=1 My experience is that such organisations and high profile businessmen are not known for supporting those they do not believe have the necessary ability to deliver. I know whose opinions I believe and it is not Arthur Cross.

I don't know about keep going off to Torun. I didn't know they were regular visitors. The major influence on the track design is the Hyde Road track, regarded by many as the best track we've ever had in the UK. No need to go Peterborough.

No wonder this forum is regarded so poorly with the cynicism and negativity that a seems to pervade most threads. I prefer to be an optimistic realist. Plainly, the planning application stage is now very close for the Sports Village, which is a major project for the city. That is new news and a major step forward. It's a catch 22. The promoters are criticised when there is no news and now, when they release details of another step on the way to achieving the new stadium.
-
The positive news has to be that it is still moving forward, that the council are fully supportive, that it has now reached the stage of a series of information displays to the public and that the planning application is expected later this month. We would all prefer to see much quicker progress, including the Belle Vue promotion. However, that is not in their hands but slowly and surely things are progressing.

As most have said, a poor meeting. Some positives. Congratulations to Matej Zagar. He was obviously faster than Tai in the final and putting him under pressure may have contributed to Tai's mistake or, it may have been due entirely to the track. Whatever the reason Matej was close enough to take advantage and a deserved win. Good to see Tai back on form. Let's hope he can now maintain it for Wolves and GB. I'm sure he will. Lessons can be learnt to produce better racing next year.

Cook will be at Belle Vue 12pm start and at Edinburgh.

Belle Vues National Speedway Stadium
Aces51 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Latest update here http://www.bellevueaces.co Still a way to go but another positive step forward. Those concerned about the ongoing costs seem to ignore what the Belle Vue management and others have explained about the income stream the stadium will create from non speedway activities and that the business plan has been approved by respected auditors. -

A bit harsh to tar every Russian with the same brush particularly as the poster said, if it doesn't break the law and your conscience. -

Belle Vues National Speedway Stadium
Aces51 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
There was an article in the programme for the Swindon match on the 8th July, 2013 informing fans that ISG had been appointed. My recollection is that the plans were only announced when they were because the Manchester Evening News leaked the story. -
What we need is a Team Manager who can see that there is no point persevering with the likes of Barker and Kennett, accepts that we are not going to achieve anything at the moment and who can identify, nurture and motivate the best talent and give them every opportunity to achieve their potential. Middleditch is clearly not that man. He told us that he believes we should pick the strongest team possible, which he didn't do anyway. His philosophy may be acceptable if we were in with a realistic chance of winning something but not if the predictable reality is that we were going to be also rans. There are riders out there, Cook, Worrall, Howarth, Birks etc., who have the potential to be better than what we have now but who need to be introduced as soon as they have reached a level where they can gain from the experience of riding in the SWC. We shall continue to decline if we ignore them or, drop them after one meeting.

Swc, Event Two, King's Lynn 15/7
Aces51 replied to Northern Exile's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I agree it was a poor performance but to say he does not have the ability is way off the mark. He has been riding for only four years and made rapid progress. He is already the top rider in the PL and achieving a good EL CMA, that is proof of his ability. The question here is do Team GB want to use riders who's performances have reached a plateau and who have already been tried and failed, or, do we accept we are not going to win anything this year and give the best of those riders who are still improving invaluable experience at this level. The latter choice is the only way forward. As for Middleditch, it is not a question of the lack of strength in depth. He chose Kennett, who anyone with sense could see was out of form, in preference to the likes of King and Barker, A monumental error of judgement with the result everyone expected. -

Emil does seem a nice lad when I have seen him interviewed. I'm sure all our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
