  1. Read my post again. The only Swindon issue is that it is mainly, not exclusively, Swindon fans who are critical of the draft system. I suspect the real reason is the poor 1-5 chosen by Roscoe, which has highlighted the reserves performance.
  2. It is ridiculous to expect significant improvement so soon. It seems odd that it is mainly Swindon supporters who are so critical of the draft system. They have done exceptionally well picking Steve Worrall. Other teams have poorer first picks and second picks who are struggling but seem more prepared to give the draft a chance and more able to see the potential benefits.
  3. Good to see Cookie doing well in the British Semi at Sheffield last night.
  4. No. I think he meant Poole. They've won a few as well.
  5. I couldn't agree more. These days people seem far too quick to be critical instead of offering support.
  6. There is sometimes a fine line between self belief and ambition and what some see as spouting off. I read the article on SS as the former. It speaks volumes for Cookie that he posted an apology for his performance on Twitter very soon after the meeting. As for Scottie, it is brilliant to see him doing so well.
  7. You don't rate Woffinden then? Cook is having a difficult time but as NJC71 said, give him a chance. It's early days yet and races are tougher for heatleaders this year. A good result for the Aces and still likely improvement in the side. Palm-Toft and Nielsen doing better than many expected. No reason for despondency for Wolves supporters. Tai will do better and Wells and Thorsell are good at home.
  8. Apparently Madrid weren't prepared to reschedule so only themselves to blame for the poor viewing figures.☺ Think we might get close. Scotty, Cook and Nielsen can all do well at Monmore. Not sure how Richie goes there but Zagar should also do well.
  9. Poor Steve. I didn't know he was going into an institution. 😂
  10. Much could depend on Stefan Nielsen. If he is unfit to ride or riding with an injury Morris and Perry could clean up. It will be like giving Wolves an 8 point start. Our 1-5 have the advantage at Kirky Lane and with a fit Nielsen an Aces win.
  11. Read again your post that I replied to, it may help you to understand what I actually said. My reply that Belle Vue and Poole had done but not in 2013 related to your comment that others could have run NL teams but didn't. I have no problem with clubs being entitled to use their own assets. In fact I agree with it because it encourages clubs to invest in youngsters. However, it is a fact of speedway life that not all clubs have the stadium access and financial ability to do so. Enjoy the advantage it has given you but don't decry those clubs who genuinely cannot afford to do so.
  12. Sounds more to me like official paperwork all signed and submitted, just waiting for formal approval. Time will tell.
  13. That's not exactly true. Belle Vue and Poole for example have run NL teams but just not last year, so to that extent KL and Coventry are lucky to have been running them at the right time. Belle Vue were losing too much money to continue with the Colts.
  14. Cook will be at Belle Vue 12pm start and at Edinburgh.
  15. Still no confirmation on the Belle Vue web site of the signing of the younger Worrall but if true an excellent signing. Nice to see the asset base being built up with Brits. Cookie next?
  16. I like it. There are overall more races involving riders of similar ability and it is just as enjoyable watching the reserve races as the other races. Plainly, with so many EL clubs losing money costs had to be cut. The BSPA deserve credit for coming up with a solution which helps achieves that but also gives British riders the opportunity to gain experience from riding much more regularly, riding against better riders and which provides the opportunity for them to learn from GP and other to riders. Anyone expecting it to produce a world beaters in 12 months time is living in cloud cuckoo land. It will have been worthwhile if in 3 years time we have a couple of riders with real world class potential and a few more with genuine EL heatleader potential.
  17. Excellent performance from the Aces. Particularly impressed with Palm-Toft. Neat style and claimed the scalps of Ljung, twice and Hougaard. The reserves also did their job. Neilsen showed he is going to be a good acquisition to the team, Reade was on the pace and just needs to improve his starts. Doyle and perhaps Perry aside Leicester were disappointing. I liked the new format, many more races of riders of similar ability.
  18. Depends if the stock car post is linked to the starting gate position and if moving it affects the refs view of the start line. You could be right though. Who are you going to support tonight? It's good to see Leicester back in the top league. I've got many memories of tight matches at Hyde Road and Blackbird Road, including the infamous track invasion.
  19. Not expecting it to be easy. Mads and Doyle can do well at Kirky Lane and so can Patrick. The reserves are also an unknown quantity. If I remember correctly, not easy at my age, the problem with gate 4 is that the stock cars dig it up and put a post in. Perhaps the answer is for Colin Meredith to do the same to the other gates when he is preparing the track, then when he takes them out all the gates will be equal.😁
  20. By historically I mean prior to yesterday. Doctors and Paramedics are like any other profession, there are good, bad and indifferent but in today's culture it would be foolish for any referee to overrule their advice. Can you imagine, a rider dislocates his shoulder, it is popped back in. The medic advises he shouldn't race again but the referee decides otherwise. In his next race it pops out again, he losses control and wipes out another rider with fatal consequences for that other rider. No sensible referee would take that risk faced with professional medical advice, no matter what he as a layman might think about it. Fortunately, many tracks have medics they have used for many years, who understand the sport and it's culture. Unfortunately, with today's health and safety culture it is going to be a potential problem whenever medics unused to the sport are used.
  21. Surely the Ellis situation is straightforward. Tracks employ a Doctor or Paramedic. They and only they, have the expertise to decide whether a rider is fit to continue in a meeting. It would be foolish for any referee to allow a rider to continue against such advice, can you imagine the reaction and consequences if he did and the rider suffered further injury which could be attributed in whole or, in part, to the original injury. It is true that historically riders have ridden with all sorts of injuries, including broken limbs but whether we like it or not, I suspect we are likely to get more of the Ellis type decisions as the health and safety culture tightens its grip on everything we do. Oh for the days when individuals took responsibility for their own actions.
  22. Zagar explains he only had one bike because his others still in New Zealand and apologises to Aces fans. http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.24448 All credit to him for taking the trouble to do so.
  23. Latest update here http://www.bellevueaces.co Still a way to go but another positive step forward. Those concerned about the ongoing costs seem to ignore what the Belle Vue management and others have explained about the income stream the stadium will create from non speedway activities and that the business plan has been approved by respected auditors.
  24. First EL meeting for the Aces. Should be a home win but is Andersen going to be fit to guest for Zagar, who will win the reserves battles and will the rain keep away?
