  1. http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/speedway/piratesnews/11203807.Poole_Pirates__Cook_clears_up_Pawlicki_tweet/?ref=rss So there we have it folks. End of story. (How many more pages now claiming Cook is wrong, would say that, is the devil incarnate etc etc etc). ☺
  2. Let's be honest, with with a small number of Poole fans history is on his side. 😂😂😂
  3. My apologies to Red Panda. I'm not even sure that the DVD will answer this one but we shall see. How often these days do we see incidents replayed on TV which can look quite different from different camera angles? I don't know how many cameras Re- Run use and where they are sighted. My concern is the allegation that it was deliberate. That involves knowing what was Cook's intention and a video will not necessarily tell us that. That is why I think it important to see if there is a previous history of fencing riders.
  4. Of course the incident at Birmingham has something to do with it. It reflects on the credibility of Red Panda's version of what happened at Poole. He wrongly claimed that the incident at Birmingham was another deliberate and dangerous move by Cook and it is the only example anyone has come up with, so far, to show that Cook has any history of deliberately fencing anyone. As always you think that anything that didn't involved Poole can't be relevant.
  5. Yes but you also claimed he had done a similarly deliberate and dangerous move at Birmingham. I was there at that one and you are wrong. By way of confirmation look at the comments from Birmingham supporters on this forum after the match. There is no great outcry that Cook had done anything deliberately, in fact most of the comments are about how well he rode. The reality is that we often see these incidents differently dependent on our allegiances. What I can say is that having watched this sport since the 50's incidents where riders fence others deliberately are thankfully, very rare. Although there is one modern day rider who seems to be trying to change those statistics all on his own. 😬
  6. Another who was outraged when Hans rode for the Pirates. Never stopped complaining about how unfair it was that Poole were gaining from this blatant cheating. 😂
  7. Apparently Cook did speak to him so just the usual biased over the top rubbish from Shovlar.
  8. I saw that post. I suspect you are referring to an incident in 2012 when Piszcz and Cook clashed in the reserves race at Perry Barr. Cook was excluded but I didn't see that as intentional. In any event one incident when Cook was a reserve learning his trade hardly constitutes evidence that he has a history as a dirty rider. It does remind us how quickly he has progressed.
  9. I didn't say Cook was innocent. I have set out the reasons why I have doubts about the credibility of some reports of the incident and pointed out that Cook has no history of being a dirty rider and mentioned Cook's comments on twitter. There is nothing on his history to suggest it would have been anything but unintentional. As for claims by Shovlar not to be anti Cook the poor chap must be suffering from memory loss and no, I am not going to trawl through his multitudinous posts to find the relevant comments. We all know how he has previously criticised him. The most notorious alleged roller of modern times is Hans Andersen. I am sure Shovlar will be able to put hand on heart and tell us how he constantly criticised him during his times with Poole. As for choosing the Belle Vue captain, Shovlars input is noted but I suspect the Belle Vue promotion are in the best position to know who is best fitted for the job. Was Darcy Poole's captain?
  10. Come on! I was referring to the on track incident with Pawlicki and virtually everyone would understand that a history as a dirty rider relates to riding incidents not gestures, verbal comments or disagreements in the pits. So the bottom line is that none of the matters you raised show anything in his past to indicate that this may have been a deliberate act. I assume you were equally critical of Hans Andersen's alleged rolling during his various times as a Pirate. I'm sure Shovlar would have mentioned it in every match report. 😂
  11. I hope there is a solution to Darcy's injury which will enable him to continue racing. It is always unfortunate when riders have to take a significant time out to recover and especially so when it affects not only their club but realistic world championship ambitions.
  12. Latest from Cookie to Rosco today @AJROSCO I don't even need bait for this hook
  13. Going to be the toughest home match so far for the Aces. KL's reserves should outscore ours by a significant margin so the 1-5 need to be on top form.
  14. I have respect for your postings. You seem to be referring to his response to the booing from the crowd rather than the incident with Pawlicki. I don't know what the reaction was but that wasn't what I was commenting on. I know nothing of the history with Workington and I am not sure what you refer to at Ipswich. Perhaps you could enlighten me. What I do know is that Belle Vue had a problem with his attitude when he first ride for us but Cook was man enough to admit he needed to change and has done so. Otherwise, he wouldn't be the Captain. Cook can come in for criticism from some PL fans but that has always been the cross that the top dog in any division has to bear and at the moment he is head and shoulders above anyone else in that league. I thought it might be that but I'm not sure what that has to do with any history of dirty riding.
  15. Shovlars opinion of Cook is well known, so anything he says can be taken with a very large pinch of salt. We have all seen on numerous occasions that he is incapable of being objective where Poole are concerned. His opinions carry no credibility. As always there are two sides to the story. We have heard what a handful of Poole fans think and a professional opinion from Cook. The truth may lie somewhere between. However, there is no history of Cook being a dirty rider so the likelihood is that whatever happened was unintentional. As for the rolling allegations, yes, I have seen him roll, as do many others, particularly when having to go from a poor gate. If he was the serial offender Shovlar would have you believe it is unlikely he would have been voted by the referees as their rider of the season last year. I don't approve of rolling but is it any different than all of the other things done to gain an unfair advantage. Staying down when a rider falls on the wrong end of a 5-1, doctoring the starting gates, delaying a signing so horses for courses guests can be used, even not repairing ruts to give the home team an advantage. Now who would sink that low. Shovlar needs to remember that he is an advocate of the win at all costs mentality. Perhaps he thinks that should apply only to Poole.
  16. Would have been nice to get closer but pretty much as I predicted. Just remember though that score at Kirky Lane was almost identical but in reverse, 51-39 to Aces.
  17. Wolves really are in trouble if they don't win this one. I really hope that Tai is soon back to his best. Wolves and Team GB need him. I also hope that the Brummies are able to strengthen and be competitive. I am sure none of us want to see continued poor crowds and any risk to their future. Too many worked too hard to resurrect the club for that to happen now.
  18. Poole by 10-12. Stefan Nielsen struggling with machinery and can't expect Lee Payne to do much at this stage of his career. As Poole riders have said, huge home advantage if you know where the ruts are (and to think Poole used to complain about the state of Kirky Lane before the significant improvements last year). See that Smart is still in the 1st May team declarations and below Compton, so unfortunately Compton must now be out of the picture.
  19. That will only be true if Poole use riders available on the draft who are below Smart and who have not got a team place. If they use those only available to guest or, those who already have a team place, they are just playing the system.
  20. I think you are too critical. As I understand it, the FTD was not thought of until after the end of last season. Now you might expect EL Promoters to be aware of what talent there is about but normally they would be concentrating such efforts more on riders at PL level who, prior to this year, would be those likely to step up. They would also no doubt keep an eye on local NL riders but realistically be unlikely to be travelling the length and breadth of the country talent spotting at that level. They would be aware of the obviously talented few but not the likely potential and progress of the many. In any event it is notoriously difficult to know who is likely to progress and at what rate, apart from the obvious candidates who filled the top few places in the original draft list. How many promising juniors have we seen who have not fulfilled their expected potential and others who suddenly and unexpectedly blossom. Take Stefan Nielsen as an example. General opinion on here, before the season started, seemed to be that he was a poor pick who would fall off on a regular basis. Not in the FTD but who, hand on heart, expected Palm-Toft to be passing and beating the likes of Holder and increasing his average. Picking riders who will progress is difficult unless it is an obvious talent like Michael Lee, Darcy Ward or, at the level we are talking about, Blackbird, Kerr of Garrity. Who thought Steve Worrall would be doing so well?
  21. The whole speedway world is shocked by this totally unexpected news. 🙊🙉🙈 At least Lee won't have any more trouble trying to get time off work. 😂
  22. There was silence until the result was announced because it was obviously a close call. When it was announced it was meet with loud cheers. Typically biased newspaper reporting which can be found in most local press.
  23. No reason given for Smart's absence but I heard from an unreliable sources that Middlo organised a late Tesco drop and told Lee he had to wait in for it. When it arrived at 6.30 it was too late for him to set off for sunny Manchester. The Poole guest reserves outscored their Aces counterparts 13-7. I doubt Newman and Smart would have scored 13 between them so without the guests it would have been an even easier win. All of the Aces, except Reade, who continues to struggle, rode well. Cooke and Zagar were outstanding and particular mention for Palm-Toft for passing Holder and leaving him for dead. The guest reserves apart and maybe with the exception of Grajczonek and Pawlicki, who both had their moments, Poole were lacklustre. They had no big hitters and just didn't seem to have their usual determination and will to win. For the first time I thought that perhaps they really are the current Man U of speedway. 😁 The next home match is against Kings Lynn so a tougher test of the Aces play off credentials.
  24. I think you will find there were two teams and one didn't even want to start the meeting. It seems ridiculous to be arguing when certainly those there and the TV audience could all see the match should have been postponed. How many matches before and since have been postponed when conditions were nowhere near so bad and dangerous as they were that night. Tonight I think the Aces will get all 3 points. Famous last words. 😱
