Kings Lynn Stars V Poole Pirates Thursday 22nd May
Aces51 replied to semion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I have no idea how realistic your figure of £500 is but that is £26,000 a year. Just how many clubs can afford that? Not many is my guess considering most are losing money already. Whatever arrangement Poole have with Scunthorpe mustn't give them first pick on their riders. Otherwise, I can't see they would have let Steve Worrall and Stefan Nielsen slip through their fingers. -

Why quote my post if you ignore what I said. My point is that most of those clubs who cannot afford to run a NL side do not have the finance to invest in an existing NL club. For most it is not that they are sitting on their hands, they do not have the facilities or cash to do what you suggest. As it happens, I have never argued that those who have assets shouldn't be able to use them in the Draft. I think they should. When Belle Vue have their new stadium I hope I shall appreciate how fortunate we shall be to be able to use it to train British youngsters but not lose sight of the fact that most clubs will not have the same opportunities. -

I am very much in favour of the Draft system but it is unfair to criticise clubs like Swindon for not being so involved with the youngsters. It is much easier if you have unlimited access to your stadium and/or, can afford to run a NL team or, invest in a club which does and benefit from that link. Unfortunately, not all clubs are so fortunate. My club ran a NL team but could not afford to continue to do so. Since then they have run a team in the Midland Development League, so are doing what they can to help the youngsters. Those who support teams who have either the facilities or, the finances, to be involved at NL level should be pleased at their good fortune but realise that Promoters at other EL clubs would do exactly the same given the resources to enable them to do so. -

Steve, I think you are referring to the wrong Nielsen. It is Stefan who rides for Belle Vue. He didn't have a PL place but has just signed for Rye House. -
Poole Pirates Vs Coventry Bees 21/5/2014
Aces51 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He's been locked away trying to edit the DVD of the Aces match to back up his ridiculous comments about Craig Cook. It took him a while to find his old porno equipment and then he remembered it's all VHS. 😂😂 Congratulations to the Bees. As has been said, it's a compliment to Poole that an away win at Wimborne Road is so highly regarded. -
The sport is always bigger than individual riders. However, if the BSPA had taken a firmer stance with BSI and the Polish authorities some years ago, we may not now have been in the situation we are, where there is a distinct lack of top quality riders racing here.
-
The GP's have done untold damage to speedway in this country by taking away too many Friday and Saturday race nights. It would be madness for the BSPA to sanction another competition which, with qualifying rounds, would make that problem much worse. Riders need to decide where they want to ride. Andersen knew he couldn't meet his EL commitments if the agreed to ride in that competition so has only himself to blame. I agree with SCB he should be banned.
-
I like Adam, he has been a good servant to British speedway but not a No.1 by any reasonable standards. At Kirky Lane he can be reasonably good but has bad matches as well, particularly when he rode for us. Morris is similar but I think capable of producing a bigger score at the moment. By rights neither of them should beat the Aces heat leaders but I just see Morris as more of a danger.
-
It is not the BSPA who are to blame but Andersen. He decided to race in an unofficial competition. Effectively, no different than a challenge match. If the BSPA allowed a guest facility then you may as well allow them for any absence, no matter what the reason.
-
They did well at Poole, losing by only 6 and Morris for Skornicki doesn't make them weaker. On paper an easy Aces win but they are obviously capable of turning in a good performance.
-
As most have said, a poor meeting. Some positives. Congratulations to Matej Zagar. He was obviously faster than Tai in the final and putting him under pressure may have contributed to Tai's mistake or, it may have been due entirely to the track. Whatever the reason Matej was close enough to take advantage and a deserved win. Good to see Tai back on form. Let's hope he can now maintain it for Wolves and GB. I'm sure he will. Lessons can be learnt to produce better racing next year.

Difficult times for the Brummies at the moment. Aces fans certainly know what it feels like to be struggling at the bottom of the table and can sympathise. The absence of Adam only adds to those problems. We shall have to see who the guest is, Grajczonek would be a good choice and probably score at least as many as Skornicki. I can only see a relatively easy Aces win unless the Brummies can pull out the sort of performance they did at Poole. Lee Payne is still injured and is replaced by Max Clegg.

The silence tells us what we need to know both about the incident and the man who said it was a deliberately dangerous move. Of course he wasn't the only one.
-
Obvious then. Andrew Mitchell, Conservative MP for Sutton Coldfield, so not a comrade, used a big stick to expose the Police "exaggerations", Lithuanian guitar is well known local slang for a push bike, which caused the controversy. He wasn't at Perry Barr on Wednesday, so didn't see Davey Watt. Simples..... Mitchell Davey.

Good to know that the video hasn't changed your opinion.
-
I thought the referee had already decided that. The question to be answered is whether it was the deliberate and dangerous act described by Shovlar.

King's Lynn V Swindon 14/05/14 Sky Meeting
Aces51 replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sense of humour bypass? I can understand and agree with a lot of the opinions being expressed about Simon but as a manager you deal with it in private. I am sure he will have spoken to him previously but he still should not follow that up in public. -

Those excellent achievements are in the past. Just as everyone is judging Simon on his current performances so the same applies to Rosco. Anyone with even a basic understanding of management skills will understand why you do not do what Rosco did tonight. Just try honestly to imagine yourself in that position at work. What is more likely to get you to work better. Being embarrassed by your manager in front of your work colleagues and members of the public or a word in private, telling you in no uncertain terms what is required of you and with constructive suggestions to help you improve. It is basic in any management manual and common sense. I could sink to your level and say that considering the level Rosco reached as a rider, he might find the constructive suggestions on how to improve difficult but I won't. 😁 -

I understand the frustration with Simon and clearly his performances are unacceptable. However, a professional manager deals with it in private. You speak to him face to face, tell him what is required of him and the consequences of his not achieving those targets. You find out what he thinks I'd v causing the problem and offer whatever assistance you can to help. What you do not do is slag him off in public. That simply embarrasses and humiliates him and helps destroy whatever little confidence he may have left. -

Perhaps, instead of slagging off his own rider on TV, which shows a complete lack of basic management skills, Rosco might ask himself why he so spectacularly fails to motivate his team when they are in match winning situations. After all, he chose these riders didn't he? -
What a sad and cynical view. Yes, it may be true of certain riders just as in any section of society but it is also true that there are riders who do show loyalty. By way of example I am led to believe that Craig Cook signed for Belle Vue last year, not because they offered the most money but because he wanted to repay the loyalty that had previously been shown to him. My experience of life is that you tend to reap what you sow. If you show loyalty to others it will be generally be repaid. Not always and obviously not in an employment situation if you make a ridiculously low offer. However, if your offer is competitive previous loyalty can be the deciding factor. Teams who show no loyalty will survive whilst they can offer a better package than others but sooner or later it will dawn on riders that they are better off elsewhere. That is not a dig at Poole, enough riders seem to enjoy being there but a dig at the cynical materialistic view of life that is so negative and destructive.

Eastbourne V Coventry Select 17th May

Not at Belle Vue. No away team brings large numbers these days, not too surprising for a Monday race night. Of recent years probably Birmingham have brought the most. -
Poole Pirates Vs Lakeside Hammers 14/5/2014
Aces51 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lakeside have created some ruts and moved the racing line to within a yard of the fence, surely not.... 😁 An easy home win. -
Totally predictable garbage. If you bothered to read the thread you would see there was at least one person in the stadium who saw it differently to you and who confirms that Cook spoke to Pawlicki afterwards, which destroys your rant about it being deliberate because he didn't go to see him on track.

It didn't stop the Aces signing Scunthorpe's best prospect though. 🙋
