You're right in that the riders should be making a healthy profit from the series. What the riders are provided with is a good advertising canvass to sell to sponsors. Most motorsports series provide relatively poor pay to competitors/teams, it is sponsorship that makes the difference.

That was 30 years ago! What about Norden, Vojens etc? The FIM were struggling to find hosts for the Final. Get some old Speedway Stars from around September time, have a look in the letters pages and see the amounts of complaints about how a one day final is unfair, the line up is poor etc. There is no system that will please everyone.

Well knowing lots of casual TV viewers who enjoy the GP coverage, plus having been to several over the years and the fact that it seems to be a financial success for the organisers, I would say opinions are blinkered. The old format was dying rapidly and was basically dead on its feet. The GP series has brought the world Championship into the modern world and is a much fairer system of finding the most deserving champion.

That would probably prove he wasn't good enough anyway. As it is he has now got the chance to prove he is good enough.

What do you mean by proper world championship? To me it's very comparable to MotoGP, WSB, World Rally, F1 in terms of how many competitors change from year to year. Oh, and none of them other World Championships have a qualifying series at all, participation is purely down to money.

Does this mean that you've been to Leicester AND enjoyed it? I agree that it was worth the admission fee. Wonder how big the crowd would have been had there been more time to promote the meeting?

What obstacles? Are there obstacles in World Superbikes as well because a 39 year old won that championship?

How do you work that out? If a rider has the talent and mental toughness he'll have a good chance of winning the title. Doesn't matter what the system is, there can only be one winner per season.

Tim is great to watch on the grass. He's a bit like Marmite with the fans though due to the amount of crashes he gets involved in. Really nice bloke but very small brain

That was a cracking race and for only 3rd place. They were knocking ten shades sh!t out of each other. Nikki v Emil earlier was edge of the seat stuff as well. But these things never happened............
