Hi BFD. Yes I have read the whole of the thread. I have always been a Heathens supporter since Leicester closed down. No way I'm supporting Coventry! Obviously you're correct that I am anti foreign riders, especially Australian ones. In actual fact I enjoy watching any rider race on track and have spanered for various foreign riders at my expense when they've been short-handed. The NL is for British riders to gain experience in and hopefully when they are good enough move up a league or two.

Hmm...Who probably speaks most sense? The experienced, respected bloke who works in the league at a high level or some dingbat from the other side of the world..Well whatever. Good luck to the new bloke at Dudley. He has done nothing wrong, but I don't believe that non British passport holders should be allowed to ride in the NL.

Are you hard of thinking, reading or seeing? Harris didn't need to aim the bike at HA. HA had caused him to loose control and Harris had to bail out.

Very similar accident but with the roles reversed.

The bailing off bit was self preservation.The pair of them were unbalanced/out of control and Harris had no choice. I was surprised that there wasn't more incidents like that tonight. Holder will have his GP win before too long.

Where was Harris supposed to put his elbow? Maybe he could of left it in the changing rooms. All riders have their elbows sticking out a bit going into a corner as they need to move their weight to the front of the bike. If HA had of pulled that move off it would have been pass of the season. It went wrong and a crash happened. That's racing.

He had to bail out as he was out of control due to HA clipping his right elbow. Watch the re-plays that show all the incident.

You can dislike whoever you want to JIW, it doesn't bother me. I just thought the thread was about Sundays meeting and not stuff elsewhere. Highlight for me was seeing Adam Roynon back on a bike and racing hard.

Believe me I know a lot about bike preperation and you're correct, shiny chrome is not the be all and end all. It just seems you enjoyed gloating at Barkers misfortune. And what has Cardiff got to do with yesterdays meeting?

You keep posting about his poor preperation, do you have any evidence? I saw his bikes close up before the meeting and they were faultless. Fires happen, split fuel pipe in the cold, slight miss-fire etc can set them off. So please enlighten all of us as to where Barker went wrong.

I've just looked them up on google earth. The location is a horse racing/trotting track just outside Den Haag NL. Would be great to have some meetings there again, 1200m sandtrack-perfect.

Next time you're out on your road bike at a junction, put it in 3rd gear, hold it flat out and see how long it is before it starts to drag. Riders adjust the clutch at the start because after a practice start everything has warmed up and expanded. If there is no free play in the cable before the start then the clutch can slip during the race.

It wasn't an uneccessary final. To win the meeting, the champion had to win the final. Is that difficult to understand?

So you didn't notice the Russians front wheel in the air then? It's racing, things don't always work out as the competitors intend.

Rick Millar rode them in '89 I think. Simon Cross had several seasons on them. Paul Fry rode them in his early days at Long Eaton. Stephan Davies, Scott Smith are others I can think of. Kelvin Tatum used them in '88. The problem was they were more of a longtrack engine and provided too much power, not enough rideabilty for speedway. Very well built and reliable engines though and Godden frame kits were very popular.

Maybe Time Team should be called in to investigate this piece of sporting history.Love watching Once A Jolly Swagman just to see that old track.

Not sure of his date of birth, but according to the programme for the national grasstrack championships he's from Barham.He's a damn good rider aswell in both 350 and 500 classes.
