Wolves V King's Lynn 1st May 6.00 Pm
BWitcher replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
What was the crowd like last night, many Cradley fans in for the earlier match, or did they mostly come in later? Likewise did most Wolves fans leave after their match? -
Loram and Havelock were from completely different eras and in reality, compared to Tai, they were quite a bit below. I've not said he could improve things either.. simply pointing out the hypocrisy/jealousy/idiocy (delete as applicable.. although with some its all three) of having a pop at someone making the right decision for their livelihood. Yes, I would love to see Tai race in Britain but I understand he has to do what is best for him.
-
Whereas I have a greater regard for winners. Do you think Lambert will stick around if he reaches the level Tai is at and British Speedway is still in it's current state?
-
You're right, there's a much higher chance of risking injury. So you expect him to take on a job with less pay, more hours and increased risk of injury... Ok!
-
Why should he ride here? Would you work somewhere for longer hours and a fraction of the pay? If so, criticise all you like. I know the answer though!
-
Sadly for you, ten folk on an internet forum isn't most. Once again, the test will come at Cardiff, if he is booed, a la Nicki Pedersen, you'll have a point. If however he gets the biggest ovation of the introductions, then you're talking nonsense. Care for a wager as to which reaction he gets? As for defending him, nothing to defend. He's not the first rider to stop racing for his country (Nicholls, Richardson) nor will he be the last. Not riding in the UK? Far rather him be honest than take the urine like Holder and KK do.

Right... So they haven't bothered with 'tactical twitching' in the past... you know to get a rider excluded for touching the tapes.. But they will now... to get a rider warned. Perfect logic. Once again, the times a rider moves and another one reacts are a hell of a lot less than the times a rider moves and the other rider does nothing. -

The only facts that matter are that Woffinden did not cause any races to be stopped. As such he can't be warned for delaying the start. It's not complicated. As for tactical twitching, one of the most ridiculous ideas I have ever heard.. Let's risk 'twitching' and completely missing the gate on the off chance that the guy next to me 'might' react at the right time to get a flyer.. The rule has been like this since touching the tapes became an exclusion, if one guy moves, but another touches the tapes, the one who touches the tapes is excluded. Hardly something new. I also agree that is how the rule SHOULD be. However, it seems it isn't, so therefore the warnings were correct. -
Correct, transmitting an event with graphics linked to transponders has absolutely nothing to do with pay per view speedway. The very fact that you think Horse Racing has 'something similar' says it all... Not a clue.

That's no different to how it has always been. Don't think we'll see anyone try it tactically, far more chance of screwing yourself up. -

Nicholls another who doesn't understand the new rule. The rule is for delaying the start. As such, if you move, lose out and the race isn't stopped you have not delayed the start. Simple. In the second case.. Tai moves, then Vaculik goes.. had Vaculik touched the tapes, he would be excluded, that has always been the case. Again, the race wasn't stopped because Tai moved, it was stopped because Vaculik got a flyer. So he was correctly warned. -

Woffinden hasn't jumped the start once actually, he tried and failed. He punished himself both times, rather than gain an advantage and cause the race to be stopped... which is what the warning is for. Spot the folks not grasping the rule. -

Yes they do, they make for the very best racing on decent tracks. Monster Joe says Greg gets a pt just for riding -
So absolutely nothing to do with what Waytogo is proposing. Horse Racing has nothing similar to this crackpot idea. There is 'virtual racing' but that is nothing to do with horses with transponders on. There is also 'virtual speedway' on a number of betting sites. Neither of them will be any sort of money spinner when there is so much 'real' action you can bet on. The pay per view streaming of meetings is an interesting idea that could be explored, but it will never happen as the promoters will immediately think of the first negative that comes into their heads and bin any idea... which has been the ongoing problem in the sport for decades. Hence.. it it where it is.

Wolves V King's Lynn 1st May 6.00 Pm
BWitcher replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Big advantage for Kings Lynn. Halsey much more used to the tighter tracks. Have to say, with a former World Champion in their team, track specialists in Lambert and Batchelor and now this change, an away win has to be on the cards. Taken from the book Speedway Psychology by Steve Shovlar. -
Nothing ironic at all as I agree with his thoughts. Either have the balls to say what the issue is or don't post at all. You've chosen a retirement thread to take a pop at someone over something from fifteen years ago... Tried to blame them for 'losing the league', when in fact said rider significantly increased their average and as such would have played a massive part in you being anywhere near the top of the league. You also of course miss out the part where I accepted your explanation that you didn't want to post whatever the incident/s were.

I can only go off the excellent wwos site which has for 2001 the following for the Isle of Wight. 245 rides 334 pts 62 bonus 6.47 average (including bonus) 5.45 average (without bonus) Following year for Newcastle 158 rides 296 pts 20 bonus 8.00 average (including bonus) 7.49 average (without bonus) Looks like something that was very good, turned very sour, for whatever reason. I understand you don't wish to divulge.
-
He added 2pts to his average did he not? He had averaged 5.45 in his first year with Isle of Wight. In his second season for Newcastle averaged 7.49. How does that equate to him losing the league Championship? Seems his improvement would have been a major factor in you being in contention. The Cup Final, I don't know about, if you say he didn't try in that, fair enough.
-
"peein down now, track is like an ice rink" said updates on that night after heat 14 which was 5 seconds slower than heat 13. Seems that is a little more than a 'damp track'.
-
If you had tact and decency you wouldn't be making such comments on this thread.
-
This is a thread regarding a rider who has served the sport well retiring from the sport. You've chosen it to have a pop at him for something from 15 years ago but haven't got the balls to state what.
-
Doesn't seem to have been an issue elsewhere.. perhaps the problem was the management.
-
He rode 37 matches for Newcastle in his second season in the country, averaged 8.00. Decent return, seems to have upset some up North though and they've held a long grudge, 15 years... Good servant to the sport, guested for Wolves on a few occasions and did well. Sad the way things petered out at the end but he's still in one piece. Best of luck in the future.
