You're still not grasping it are you. There isn't a counter argument to what you have said because you haven't got an argument in the first place! Going for the win was irrelevant. It made no difference to the end result whether Lambert did or didn't pass Emil. Let's just suppose Lambert had sneaked past Emil on lap 2.. Tai has cleared off chasing the win.. Then on the last bend Emil goes round the outside and takes back third. Had Tai not been in the lead he could have blocked that outside run. The scenario for the final was simple. Come last, you lose. The win was not important. -

We didn't have 'little to lose'.. we had 'nothing' to lose -

This argument basically boils down to the below: You have two choices: Option A: You have 1% chance of winning (being generous) Option B: You have 20% chance of winning. We chose Option A. It is that simple. -

lmao. Do you actually even understand what you are saying? Let me get this straight. Your opinion is quite simply: Woffinden shouldn't have team ridden because we might have lost. Is that it? -

Thanks for putting forward the argument for team riding, even though you're trying to argue against it! -

This seems to be the pattern now.. remind us of how great the team riding was in races where it didn't actually matter to a great degree... but then tell us it wasn't important when it was of absolute importance! -

It's all assumption claims Stevebrum! The rules are quite clearly explained how the final is won, but nope.. it's all assumption! Staggering. It really does get worse and worse. -

I'm afraid any argument for the 'doing the right thing' has now well and truly been blown out of the water. Once Starman is on your side, you haven't a leg to stand on -

Rossiters job to say what calls were made, not Tai's. -

Quite frankly it doesn't matter how many opinions you canvass. If they suggest anything other than helping your partner in the final, they are wrong or simply short of a few brain cells. Let me put it this way.. Why bother with team riding in the heats then? Any argument that has been put forward for Tai not helping in the final is wiped out by him doing it in the heats. Yet in the one race where it was ABSOLUTELY essential (the heats weren't)... it wasn't done? You seem to be taking a stance that suggesting the tactics were wrong is somehow painting Tai to be a villain and wiping out the amazing efforts he put in during the week. That is utterly false. Yes, there are some anti Tai posters doing that, but they'll find fault regardless. As said, I class myself as a massive Tai fan and defended his decisions over the British Final and not riding for GB. I can however see GB got it wrong in the Final. If it was the managers decision, he should go. If you ran the final 100 times with Tai chasing the lead, barring mechanical failure Lambert wasn't going to pass Emil in any of them. If you ran the final 100 times with Tai attempting to help Lambert, I'd say at least ten of the times Lambert would get up for 3rd. Others may end up with Emil getting 2nd but it would be irrelevant. The fact is quite simply, the tactics used gave 0% chance of success barring engine failure. -

I'd class myself as one of Tai's dedicated fans and I certainly asked the question. You'd have to be a few brain cells short to not do so. Seen various excuses trotted out as to why they didn't try and not one of them has any semblance of reason. It was the wrong tactic. Simply no argument. However, I won't use it a stick to beat him with nor will I let it detract from the superb performance he put in over the week or the great strides GB have already taken. -

Woffinden didn't practice. Major mistake in my opinion, he dropped a pt as a result. -
Don't be silly, you didn't do that. Numerous experts on this forum say leaving top riders out doesn't effect crowds! Seriously though, it's a shame British speedway (league) has sunk to the levels it has. We should be enjoying a Lindgren/Woffinden era at Wolves now that would have been right up with Ermolenko/Correy/Karlsson/Max/Lindgren (perm the relevant two).

Fools? your only posts on this thread have been attacking Tai Woffinden. That sure qualifies you for one given his efforts this week. -

Speedway now is more professional at the highest level that it has ever been. In fact it is more professional at every level. Back in Collins day he's racing against amateurs turning up with a bike strapped to the back of their car in many of his races Seriously, not attacking Collins, he was brilliant and rightfully in the conversation for best Brit ever. Your comments regarding Crump are nonsense. He was still racing. He wasn't winning. He wasn't on a moped. As for Tai, when did I mention domestic form in the UK? -

It's based upon your other posts. It's always a sign one has hit close to the grain when the response is so aggressive. I understand though, tough week for you. You were sat there dying for GB and Woffinden to fail. Only after the final did you suddenly pipe up. Other posters, ones who don't particularly like Woffinden were adult enough and had the integrity to put that to one side and congratulate him and GB on their performance. You fall into a very very small minority of folk who weren't able to do that.. it speaks volumes. -

No the poor crowds don't confirm anything. The racing was as good as any WTC and the added bonus of having two riders from a team made it even better. I don't like the way the winners are decided, BUT it did mean that almost every race was important in the final itself and the racing showed that. If there is to be a 'grand final' then as has been said earlier, in the event of a 3-3, whomever had the most pts wins. So for last night for example, Russia would have needed a heat advantage to win. -

Good god. Try having a read through this thread. You will see that 95% of people were slating this event, it's going to be awful etc. Come the end of the final, 95% of those people have now changed their tune and think it was fantastic (qualifiers aside). If and when the next one rolls around, fans won't be having to decide, is this going to be any good etc.. they will KNOW it's a fantastic event. -

This was better than the WTC. The overall event was reminiscent of when the WTC was first introduced and the qualifying rounds were a dud, it only picked up at the race-off. They then tweaked things. That's all this event needs.. tweaking. Fans now know how good it can be. -

I'd strongly suggest Woffinden has already surpassed Collins, at the very least equalled. If he adds a third world title there is no argument. -

With regards to the attendances... there is little doubt with regards to the negativity regarding this event prior to the tournament. However... after the final that has changed a hell of a lot. People now know they would see some fantastic racing. I have 100% confidence if this event was held at Belle Vue next year, or in 2020 as is more likely, the final would sell out. -

It's been a very, very tough week for the Tai haters. They've been waiting and waiting and waiting.. just hoping for something to take a pop at Tai about. Two of the main culprits being Adonis and Orion. Sadly for them no opportunity came as Tai was absolutely magnificent, putting in one of the finest performances there has EVER been seen in the history of the sport. We constantly heard how Emil was taking the harder gates and having to do the 'hard work' for the Russia pairing.. well the majority of the time Tai was too and made it look easy. From the gate, from the back, team riding, it was a clinic of speedway excellence. Those doubters and haters about the stance he had taken to improve the fortunes of GB had been silenced. The changes he wanted were in place, the team was professional, they meant business and boy did it show. Then came the final.. and suddenly they saw their chance, the hatred, venom and to be honest in some cases downright xenophobia resurfaced again. I'm not referring to those of us who think the tactics were wrong in the final (more on that in a moment) simply those whose ONLY comments throughout the entire event were to attack Tai. As for the final, I am as bigger Tai fan as you will ever find and have defended him countless times. That said, the tactics were wrong in the final, whether from Tai himself or from Rossiter. There isn't an argument, not even a semblance of an argument otherwise. We also need to take a step back with some of the hype regarding Lambert and where he is right now. Yes, he rode his heart out in this event but the reality is Tai scored 35pts on his own.. Lambert scored 11 from 11 rides, some of those pts coming due to assistance. He still has a long way to go so those saying he is ready to mix it at the top level need to curb their enthusiasm just a little. A major step forward yes, but still a long, long way to go. I hope he can come away from this with the positives, not dwell on the final and continue to build on the impressive form he has shown this season. Another couple of years and if he continues this progress then he will really be amongst the top echelon, Tai will still be at his peak (barring injury) and GB will have an outstanding future.. especially if Bewley can continue his development. Of course, throw in the fact that behind the scenes they will have a professional set up giving them everything they need to help them succeed. Yet despite this bright future, this future that has ONLY come about due to the stance Tai took, we still have the jealous, whinging haters moaning. To them I simply say, enjoy your whinging, there will be less and less of you over the next few years, the rest of us will be enjoying seeing the rise of a golden era for GB speedway led by the greatest rider we have ever had and a crop of youngsters who unlike some in the past will have everything in place to help them realise their true potential.. and who knows, one of them might just surpass Tai one day.
