Anything of value to add?

Of course there is something to reply too. You have claimed 'more cobblers'. Do explain what is 'cobblers'. Let's here your reasoned opinion, backed up by supporting facts why my post was 'cobblers'. Once again, I am uninterested in 'having the last word', which is why I am inviting you to expand on your 'cobblers' statement.

Anyhow, I'm not disagreeing with speedways standing as a sport in the country... just wanted to mention that when it comes to viewing figures, it's 'boxed' weigh above it's weight and matched, if not beaten, some very heavy hitters over the years.
-
It was well documented on this forum season after season. The source was BARB. Boxing should be blowing speedway away with viewing figures (as indeed most sports should) given the level of promotion and publicity it gets. That said, the most recent boxing event on BT Sports attracted a viewing figure of ... 7300, with a 'peak' of 22,800. Significantly less than the WORST viewed speedway meeting ever on either Sky or BT.

That's the whole issue isn't it. If it's not allowed now, when deaths and hospital admissions are lower than at any point in the last five years... when will it be allowed?
-
Nice fantasy you've concocted, much like all the rest. The debate was over the effectiveness of lockdown. I pointed out that two viruses, influenza and Covid-19 are transmitted in the same way... one has dropped like a stone, the other has not. As such, it appears that lockdown is not the primary driver, or indeed much of a driver at all, in the fall in Covid-19 hospital admissions and deaths. I have provided factual evidence to back this up. You on the other hand, have provided absolutely nothing, other than the two viruses behave differently (you're now saying after transmission). As Covid, we are told, is more deadly, that in actuality only supports what I am saying further, so thanks for adding further weight to my analysis. At this moment in time Covid-19 is pretty much insignificant as a deadly virus in the UK. It's not an opinion, it's a fact. At this moment deaths involving flu/pneumonia are 7.6 x more than deaths with Covid-19. It's not an opinion, it's a fact. At this moment in time on average only ONE person is admitted to each hospital in the UK every FOUR weeks. It's not an opinion, it's a fact. Also, the people who constantly post things along the lines of "I await your obligatory 'gotta prove your wrong as I have to have the last word' posts are the ones who genuinely do want the last word'.. that's why they post that. Now, by all means, if you wish to challenge the above, go ahead and do so. I don't moan and bleat when someone does that, but I do expect you to provide reasoning and facts to support it. Otherwise, it's meaningless.

It doesn't matter how many times you post it, you're still wrong. Selecting two posts from a running conversation is just an attempt to mislead people. As we can see, some have actually gone back and read it and can see nothing untoward was said. The death of your father is very sad, as is any death. I too, as indeed I'm sure is the case with everyone on this forum, has had relations die due to contracting a virus. Unfortunately when you reach a certain stage in life or have other afflictions a virus getting into the lungs can be the tipping point. However, the point I made then.. and I still make now is that you, nor indeed anybody else (including me after deaths) were calling for restrictions, bans on attending sport, lockdowns etc. It was simply deemed a part of life. It's not a difficult thing to understand, but you stubbornly refuse to do so. Your choice. As for chris4gillian. He initiated the discussion by attacking one of my posts with inaccurate information. Now, given your mantra is everybody is entitled to an opinion (which I agree with) I defended my opinion with reasoning and backed it up with evidence. Chris4gillian was asked to do the same. However, he then began to act petulantly, refusing to provide the 'evidence' he claimed he had and concocted his fantasy about not being allowed an opinion. A hypocritical fantasy I'm afraid. Anyhow, this has now been put to bed on the other thread as it now transpires chris4gillian didn't have any evidence at all, his claims were false and he was wrong. Nothing wrong with that, life is all about learning.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8617795/More-Britons-killed-flu-pneumonia-coronavirus-seven-weeks.html Good to see some sections of the media beginning to pick up on what I've been saying. Of course it's 8 weeks in a row now. As we can see:
-
When speedway was on Sky Sports, in particular on Sky Sports One, as it used to be known, its viewing figures held up with almost all sports bar football. On the other channels, although viewing figures were lower, it was generally in the top 10 viewed programmes that week, numerous weeks the most watched.
-
Now back on topic, borrowed from BluPanther.. There is simply no justification why speedway has not been able to run this season. This virus peaked on April 8th and has been downhill ever since. Even when we add all deaths from flu/pneumonia, we have less than at any time in the last five years.
-
Asking a question relating to the topic under discussion isn't hounding. It's exactly what a discussion forum is for. If the forum was moderated you'd be banned in no time with your consistent posting of vile euphemisms. Discuss the bloody topic or go post on another one.
-
It's quite simple. The discussion was about flu and people dying. You took objection, referring to it as the blummin flu. Facts were brought into it (number of people who actually die involving the 'blummin flu'), you realised you were ridiculously wrong and tried to use your father as a get out.. without stopping to pause and realise you were the one ridiculing an illness, not me. I remained talking about the topic under discussion, which was influenza re-iterating the point that nobody batted an eyelid when tens of thousands died each winter. Chunky is quite capable of reading and understanding that. You've since made claims that I 'brought the death of your father' into an argument, which we can clearly see is false.
-
The post I referred too. He took exception to me pointing out how many people died every year from flu/pneumonia etc. Just as he is taking exception again now that deaths involving flu/pneumonia are 7.6 x higher (and growing) than those involving Covid-19 each week.
-
Not quite.. if you read the prior conversation he was mocking the 'blummin flu' and refusing to accept it led to deaths. He then introduced his father into the equation. Of course that is a sad event. However, that is not something I was at any point ever discussing. Just highlighting he hadn't an issue with other viruses at any point previously on the thread.. He wrongly decided I was referring to his father's death for whatever reason.
-
Despite your constant accusations I have never once mentioned your dad. You brought him up and concocted a fantasy I'd somehow mocked you about him. The discussion was regarding the flu and how tens of thousands had died in previous years from flu/pneumonia related illnesses and nobody had batted an eyelid. You claimed you took it seriously, I stated you hadn't mentioned it previously.
-
You really need to stop talking about yourself in this fashion.
-
100% spot on. In the eight weeks up until August 7th: Deaths with Covid-19 on cert: 2940 Deaths with flu/pneumonia on cert: 8501. That gap is widening each week. This week it was 152 for Covid (down again), 1162 for flu/pneumonia (actually rose) Remind me which virus we are in a 'pandemic' for again??
-
You replied to me 4 mins ago!

Indeed it is proven. You don't have the evidence. So, we know now.. unchallenged, that the lockdown has not effected the deaths of a virus that transmits in the same way as Covid-19. We got there in the end. Thanks for agreeing finally chris4gillian.
-
Incorrect, I haven't flatly refused. I have asked, why have the deaths from Covid-19 continuously fallen, but not those involving influenza. It's a simple question that nobody has been able to answer. You've claimed that influenza spreads in a different way to Covid-19, despite all medial organisations saying they spread in the same way. I have and never will 'refuse' to give the reasoning to back up any point I make. Hence I've provided the evidence that says the two spread in the same fashion. So again, let's see this evidence that you have.
-
All very nice, but irrelevant to the topic Corona Virus. Now, where is your evidence that influenza transmits very differently to Covid-19? You told us you hadn't got time to post... but that's been proven to be incorrect. One can only assume you haven't got any 'evidence' and that you indeed made it up.
