As I said after the pairs, Smolinski will be fine on a track with a good inside line. Even better when riders leave it open for him time and again. See how he gets on as the season progresses, still not convinced he will do that well.. However... Superb tonight, well done. -

Gating tart Hampel knocks Tai out the semis. Please don't have him go on and win. Such a boring rider. -

There was only one thing Smolinski was going to do in that corner and that was hold the tightest of inside lines, which he did. Had he not lost control he was gaining a lot of ground and would have got close to passing. Riding where he did gave Smolinski the opportunity to try that move. Pin it on the inside, nothing the German could have done. Some of you seem to think I am 'blaming' Ward for the crash. Of course not! He was the innocent victim totally.. I am merely pointing out that again, a rider is riding the wrong line on the track and giving an opponent behind an opportunity. -

Nasty looking crash, again, dumb riding this time from Ward, had he rode the right line on final bend it wouldn't have happened. Fingers crossed he is ok. -

Another ride completely lacking in intelligence. -

How can it be first bend bunching when there are only two riders and exiting turn 2? Ward had plenty of room again. What Ward showed then was an utter lack of speedway intelligence. It was obvious Lindgren would make the same move and yet Ward fell for it yet again. -

Pathetic biased commentary from Crump and pathetic refereering. Ward was as blatant an exclusion as you could get then. No bunching at all, he's about 10 metres from the fence, and fell untouched. -

It still amazes me how some riders seem continually oblivious as to where to ride on the track. Its blatant that you have to hold the inside tight, yet Freddie Lindgren (who is one of the worst culprits for this) couldn't figure this out until Smolinski had overtaken him. -

Yes I get it, clearly you don't, or simply cannot act like an adult and admit when you've made a mistake. I have already acted like an adult and ADMITTED I made an error when referring to the Aussies having the same age limit. I was wrong on this, however the fact that their age limit is actually a year OLDER than the British one actually makes my case stronger and yours more ludicrous, something which seems to be passing you by. Correct, I don't tolerate folk talking rubbish and admit if I get something wrong. Perhaps I should take your attitude and when shown to be wrong about something, get in such a strop I make a big public song and dance about putting someone on ignore, then bring it up as often as I can on different threads. -

Of course, that isn't the issue that's being debated mostly. It's the 'reasons' behind his thinking. They have no credence. -

In other words, you have absolutely nothing to come back with. You've been caught out once again talking utter rubbish, using a system that doesn't allow riders to race till they are 16 to attack a system that allows riders to race at 15. A pretty basic fail. Now, you could act like an adult and acknowledge your mistake, or you can act like a child and attempt to make a witty comment before putting your tail between your legs and running. -

No, it isn't a matter of opinion. Whether rules change from year to year is irrelevant, what is relevant is the rule in the given year. If you can let me know when Lambert could have raced in the UK at the age he wanted too and when the rule was changed to target him and prevent him from doing so, then you might just have something to complain about. Nice try in your efforts to wriggle out of your ridiculous previous post when you laud the German system and lambast the British one, using Australia as an example. I apologise, you are right, their rules are different.. they don't allow them to ride 500cc machines until they are 16 not 15... so quite how you feel that backs up your claims is beyond me. The reality is I don't think anybody has anything against Lambert at all, simply they do not think he has anything at all to be whinging about. The biggest danger to Lamberts popularity is folk overhyping him.. we're already seeing it on this thread. Sure he is a very talented rider with a lot of potential, but at the moment that is all it is, potential. From what I saw last season he is nowhere near the level of someone like Joe Screen at the same age. Poor old Joe had to wait till he was 16 to race too. -

It's not a matter of opinion. Opinion is irrelevant. It really is quite simple and straight forward. The rules didn't allow Lambert, or ANY other rider to do what he wanted to do. Very very simple. As for the nonsense in the rest of your post, saying the rule doesn't work because we haven't produced much talent.. dismissing Woffinden as he was a product of the Aussie youth system who funnily enough have the VERY SAME RULE in place. The reality is Woffinden may have had talent when he returned to the UK, but talent means nothing and he progressed through the tiers, NL, then PL, then EL, all the way till he was World Champion. He didn't get ahead of himself, didn't believe in his own hype enough to 'skip' Premier League racing. Neither incidentally did Chris Holder or Darcy Ward. Lambert's (and his family) decision to go straight to the EL has a far greater chance of damaging his career than progressing through the PL, history tells us that. Not only is this the case in speedway but in many sports around the world where young talents, when pushed too far too fast, burn out far quicker than those who progress through the ranks in a more sensible fashion. -

So we're now getting to the heart of the matter, the Lamberts feel they should be treated differently to every other young rider in the UK. They think they are 'special' so they don't have to abide by the same rules as every other rider in the UK. Thus when they were advised that, quite rightly, they would have to abide by the same rules as everyone else they had a hissy fit? I'm sure there are many legitimate reasons to have a go at the BSPA and the support they give to British riders, but this isn't one of them. -

No, it is signifying that however good they may be at driving due to extensive practice, they are still not allowed to obtain their license till the required age. As was the case with Lambert. It´s really quite simple. He hasn't been picked on, he hasn't been victimised. -

No there isn't any comparison at all. There are no rules/regulations regarding the age of taking exams such as A Levels/GCSE's. There ARE rules/regulations regarding the age required to race a 500CC motorcycle. By your reckoning, some kid who has been stealing cars and joy riding since he was 10 should be allowed to take their driving test at 14 because they are 'good at it'. Or another child can buy alcohol at 14 because he has 'matured' early. -

BWitcher replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Comparing taking an exam to riding a 500CC motorbike with no brakes is ridiculous. There is no comparison. This country has rules and regulations in place (as do many others) and they have to be followed. It is extremely foolish and naïve if the Lamberts feel those rules were in place to hold them back. All credit to them for finding a way to fast track his career, nobody is going to criticise them for that. -
He hasn't. Holder was simply named in the Poole team to race in the Elite Shield fixture at Swindon, which was postponed. It was a one-off and Ward will take his place for the forthcoming league fixtures.

Remind me how you were able to watch Robert Lambert ride last year? He was perfectly happy to use his British status to ride in the NL. Remind me how you are able to watch Robert Lambert ride for Kings Lynn this year? I don't give a diddly squat what he says or who he chooses to ride for. Give the lad his wish, he doesn't want to be associated with GB, fair enough let him go race for Germany. Adjust his starting average accordingly and Kings Lynn can find a replacement. -
Folk keep quoting this rule and clearly they aren't reading it. It states 'without the express permission of the MC'. Quite clearly 'express permission' was obtained so there is no problem. Ward will have signed a contract to ride in the EL meetings for Poole. He will be in the Poole 1-7 come the date of that fixture so there is no way round it. So The Pedaler has been Pedalling more rubbish.

Not a poor post, Lambert perfectly happy to use his British status to ride in the NL, to obtain a 3.00 average in the EL. If he doesn't want it, take it away.- 202 replies

If he doesn't wish to have anything to do with GB, simply re-assess his average to 4.00 and inform him he unfortunately can't race for Kings Lynn this season.- 202 replies
