Big decisions in November.

You've been given an answer now by MikeBV. Rugby and Cricket. I'd suggest you stop digging now. -

There is no apology. Your question is irrelevant as every sport is different. Although if you wanted to go down that route, in which other sport is home advantage such a big factor? -

There's nothing to understand. There is absolutely nothing ridiculous. Only in the mind of someone who can't remember whether it's +6 or 6. After years. As has already been explained to you elsewhere, they get an extra pt as they have got within 6 effectively. You don't hear football fans saying what a joke and how ridiculous the away goals rule is. Penalty shoot outs to decide a game could be deemed as 'ridiculous' if one wanted too. Indeed, in the biggest sports tournament in the World, the World Cup, there are situations where teams progressing would be done by drawing lots. All sports have their vagaries, just speedway fans have this inane desire to make out theirs are 'mickey mouse' and 'ridiculous'. Speedway's BIGGEST problem? It's moaning fanbase. -

You asked what other sports give points to losers, in a mocking way towards the sport of speedway. Then five minutes later quote two sports you play in that do just that. Even by BSF standards that's an impressive. Your system, as the old bonus pts system did, would simply reward those with the biggest home track advantage. It's not a bad idea as it would make every race important for sure, but the difference in tracks would play an even bigger role. -

I thought that would be the answer. It was replaced by a system that kept many more meetings interesting to the end. Although it has been tweeked and ruined a part of that aspect, it still keeps far more interesting (from a scoring perspective) that the old 'bonus pt' system did. -

So the losers are getting pts.... you've just defeated your own argument! -

Simple question for those who liked the 'bonus pt'. Why? What made it better? -

As Bagpuss says, Cricket and Rugby Union for sure. They're mickey mouse joke sports though I suppose! In fact, I was in a bar in the Algarve a couple of weeks ago and an Englishman was watching some Rugby and boy did the locals laugh when he told them about the losers getting a pt in Rugby. -

Yes there are other sports where the 'loser' gets pts. -

The only ridiculous thing is someone 'not being able to get their head around' something that simple. -

Because it was a flawed system and replaced by one that WAS much better. However, they ruined that when they took away only getting 2pts for winning by 6 or less at home. -
It was also another example of poor riding.. You could make the outside work on 1 and 2 but on 3 and 4 it was far harder.. Lindgren had covered the outside on 1 & 2 for 3 laps and then did the old speedway rider trick of lets change to the inside and let him ride round me. It's this kind of mistake that separates the very good riders from the great riders imo.

Some posts on here really haven't aged very well at all have they, bemoaning the 'no hope' Zagar and Iversen for qualifying for next year. Who are those two in tonights final again? -

It's not the equivalent of diving. It's the equivalent of a professional foul. Which is a red card. -

Always rode for rival teams, but an entertaining rider who I never had any ill will against. Enjoy retirement and whatever comes next.

But we do know. We just had a meeting. Iversen and Zagar beat them. The level of intelligence on this forum just gets worse and worse.. One minute folk are moaning riders don't qualify.. then they moan when they do. -

You could have the very best 16 riders in the world... way, way ahead of anyone else. One of them will still come last. -

You're spot on.. point is, even at this stage of their careers, both Zagar and Iversen are capable of winning a GP. -

You're totally right, what a nonsense speedway is. It should be like football where the top 8 sides in the World Cup are seeded to the next event.. All the others aren't allowed to qualify as they had their chance. Speedway fans... I despair at times. -

Really? I think you will find they do. As I said, you don't realise it, but you're actually abusing Auty. Your constant reference to this talent he has is saying he has wasted his career. -

You do realise, you're actually abusing Josh Auty with these posts you make? -
You're spot on. It has everything.. the thrill of making a great start.. the agony of putting it in the fence/grass... the joy of a last bend pass.. team riding your partner round (ok that doesn't apply to me despite my best efforts). As you say it's a good community, plenty of fun, sure there are some words exchanged from time to time (doesn't apply to me of course again ) but it all adds to the spice and doesn't last long.
