Exactly my first thoughts.

Your dislike of Hancock is reaching laughable proportions now. You're as bad as Adonis/Speedibee with Woffinden. What you mean to say is there is literally zero evidence that he ISN'T capable of competing. There's 30 odd years of evidence stating that he IS capable of competing.

And Adonis, perhaps he's reading it on his latest 'holiday' from the forum. -

Once again Woffinden laughs in the face of his jealous detractors. -
Obviously not. He should be given a wild card because he QUALIFIED in his last GP season. Significant difference to those who get them when outside the top 8.
-
Because Lamberts very best year so far isn't a patch on Hancocks worst GP year.
-
Pedersen finished outside of the top 8. Hancock did not. Age is utterly irrelevent. If he is still in the top 8 at age 80 and wants to carry on, he does so. If he rides next year, falls outside the top 8, then you don't give him a wildcard the following year. Simple as that. If you think taking the time out to look after your sick wife is a 'mockery', then so be it. It doesn't matter whether he's 25, 35,45 or 50. He should only be applauded for that. There is one reason and one reason alone you don't want him picked... you don't like him.

Of course it's a crackpot statement to make.. but that's the kind of crackpot nonsense that regularly crops up on this forum. I was being totally sarcastic. Unfortunately, the opening post was akin to the thinking that has gone into the promotion of British Speedway for so many years now... hence the mess it finds itself in. The number 3 is the USA is MASSIVE.

You're right, I was in the pub recently and I happened to mention this and the place broke down in hysterics. They couldn't believe there was a sport where a competitor kept the same number all season. What a tinspot sport it must be was the general observation. Some swore they would never watch or attend any event where a competitor/athlete has the same number all season long. Name another sport that does it was the most common question asked.. in between the laughter that is!
-
Yeah, offering a 4 time World Champion who rightfully qualified before his wife's illness sure does 'make a mockery'. He deserves a place until it's proven he isn't up to it anymore.
-
Yes of course it's irrelevant stating that Wolves, IF they had the choice, would have preferred to have been at home first on a thread regarding the fixture where it is now the away leg first. How foolish of me. It is even more 'relevant' when you are claiming that Wolves have a 'massive advantage' now by having the home leg 2nd. The point I made completely refutes that.

Why would he be shy about blowing his own trumpet? How many other 3 x World Individual Speedway Champions does GB have? -

Yes of course, never read it, just have it on your bookshelf in the background but comment expertly on it. Probably best to start your own Facebook group about it. -

I'm afraid you'll now forever more be bracketed with Adonis, Sidney and Gustix.. a combination of the three if you like and their 'traits'. The only way out is to buy the book.. -

He isn't a three times Grand Prix winner. -
This thread shows just how out of touch some members of this forum are. All they can do is moan, moan, moan. Every year you get the same folks whinging about the racing. Every year you get the same folks declaring how they don't go to Cardiff and most people they know don't.. Yet every year we get a crowd of nigh on 40,000 which no other stadium can even dream of obtaining, let alone having the capacity to do so.

So there goes your get out clause. That just makes you a hate filled xenophobe then. -

Jealousy really can make a man bitter. -
Similar to the above: If I had the choice, as a one off, of attending a meeting with a 40,000 crowd but poor racing, over one with 1000 there but reasonable racing it would be the first one.. every single time. It's indisputable that is the case for tens of thousands of others too despite what a few claim on here. Cardiff is more than just one speedway meeting for many. It's a weekend jammed full of meeting up with old friends, some who they see once a year. It's the ultimate occasion for a speedway fan, a rare time a city is taken over by the sport and long may it continue to thrive as a beacon that there is still support for speedway in the UK.
