  1. Why oh why do people STILL fail to understand what is going on here! What nationality is Emil? What is the event he is being used as a promotional tool for? Track the money behind said company. In that part of the world, quite simply, you do as you are told.
  2. And the ever declining attendances at speedway likewise.
  3. I make it around 3 years before we sign Scott Nicholls and 7 years before we sign Harris.
  4. A great lineup, but the difference is, it wasn't for a World Championship. It's a whole different ball game then.
  5. I've heard of Nigel Boocock, seen Plechanov mentioned on forums such as this, and vaguely know who Brian Crutcher is... However, name me any World Champion and I'd know them. To be fair, your average fan won't have an in depth knowledge of the sports history. Most will have heard of the World Champions, a lot less the good riders who never won.. especially as the years go by.
  6. Sadly many do give a flying fudge and they don't go to speedway any more.
  7. By your very own words, you also 'know nothing'.
  8. The issue is many people no longer trust anything that Matt Ford says. It's the boy who cried wolf syndrome.
  9. I suggest you both try reading my post again, in your case Starman that's always difficult, but do try again and actually try and understand what it says. As for Poole haters, I've been defending the Poole fans for a number of pages on this thread...
  10. Are you a OneSport fanboy? Let's put it this way, did Emil have issues with the GP before OneSport came on the scene?
  11. Playing devils advocate, it's only some comments from Matt Ford, who has lied about the reasons for riders absences in the past. As I said, it's a shame for North that he is getting stick.
  12. Unfortunately, when a club has lied previously (more than once) regarding absence of riders, everything is then treated with suspicion, which is unfortunate for North in this situation.
  13. It is perfectly fine as you are not cheering the rider falling per se, you are cheering the advantage gained by your team.. something a few seem to fail to grasp. Ask yourself, why have RIDERS and TEAM MANAGERS been seen to cheer and jump in the air themselves when such things have happened? You have to have a very sick mind if you want to link the two... the problem is yours, not those who cheered.
  14. No it isn't. In every sport, someone has fortune, someone does not. If you cheer a goal, you are cheering at someones misfortune. If you cheer a pass in speedway, you are cheering at someones misfortune. Most people like to invest emotionally in sport, savour the highs, despair at the lows.. unfortunately speedway is populated by too many of the sit and do nothing types.. and they are one of THE biggest reasons the sport doesn't attract new younger fans. There are some sad people in the world, that is correct. You appear to be a case in point. Why would I smile at someone broken down at the side of the road? You really don't understand do you? NOBODY is cheering because a rider has had a mechanical failure.. indeed if he was in last place, there would be no cheer in almost every case. They are cheering because their team has gained an advantage.. that's the idea of sport you see, to try to win. It's exactly the same situation when a rider falls.. apart from the odd idiot which you get at every track, nobody is cheering a rider falling, they are cheering because their team gained an advantage, that is the cause of the cheer. It doesn't for one moment mean they want the rider to be in anyway injured.. the sick people are the ones who try to find a correlation between the two. I dread to think how some of these folk would have got on at Wolves/Cradley meetings in the past.. EVERY incident was greeted with massive cheers from whichever side. I have a match on video where Sam Ermolenko pushes Greg Hancock way out wide, Hancock goes down and the whole place goes crazy.. later in the meet Sam goes down and the Cradley fans go wild. These were must see meetings, the atmosphere was unbelievable, the riders responded and put on an even better show.. you'd prefer a silent stadium with a morgue like atmosphere, which to be fair you get at many speedway meetings now.. hence the sport dying.
  15. He isn't allowed! It really is as simple as that.
  16. If said rider from the opposing team was in the lead and packed up damn right I would.
  17. I was actually going to post that next thing folk will be complaining that people cheer when a rider blows an engine as it will cost him money... and lo and behold someone already has. Unbelievable! How about we make it despicable we cheer when a rider passes someone? That poor guy who has been passed has lost out on money.
  18. Of course they did!! Because they weren't cheering because they thought the rider might be injured. They were cheering because it's a play off semi final against your biggest rivals, it was pretty much the last chance Coventry had of getting back in the meeting and Harris sliding off meant that chance had failed. Damn right they should be cheering. It's only fools who correlate this with a rider being injured. If you have that point of view, shame on you for even watching something where riders might get hurt. One of the major problems speedway has is lack of atmosphere and part of the reason is folks with this ancient attitude.
  19. They cheered because a tactical ride failed and quite rightly so.
  20. Why would they be cheering when their own rider has fallen? Do they cheer when an away rider makes a pass?
  21. Yes they do. They were cheering because their team had gained and the tac ride had failed.... to try and link that into thinking a rider might be injured is sick. As I have said MANY times before on this subject, we have seen live on Sky in other play off finals RIDERS and MANAGERS jumping and punching the air when another teams rider has slid off. It's called emotion and something speedway crowds lack... more of it, the sport would be in a much better place.
  22. Based on? The only reason you say that is they raced each other less.. hence you saw them beat less. Had there been a GP back then, some of the top Brits you thought were great would have been like Harris is now and your whole perception would have changed. Same riders.. just you see them getting beat by the truly top riders far more often.
  23. Reality is, Emil hasn't the ba**s to step up to the plate where it really matter. End of story!
  24. Which is EXACTLY what OneSport want fans to start to think and claim. Seems many fans are gullible enough too as well. Whoever is World Champion this year, their achievement isn't diminished in the slightest. Nor will it be next year. If Emil can't be bothered to enter or more precisely, isn't allowed to enter, then tough, he's a complete non-entity.
  25. What an awful choice from Lindback to take Gate 1. The result was pretty obvious from that point, he was fortunate to get 3rd.
