This was tried in 1993 when guests were only allowed for an injury to your No 1. It didn't work. Wolves had a meeting with 5 juniors! Effectively lost the league as a result of that.

Firstly, I've done it. Many times. As do most people, regardless of distance people are away from them. Secondly, he could do many things about getting there if he'd wanted too. Thirdly he wasn't even concerned enough to get up to date with the situation (his own words). Fourthly, Dak wasn't looking after a family, running a home and being rushed of his feet trying to work. He was out playing golf, at an arcade and wasn't due to work till some 3 days later. There is no comparison. I think you'll find the 'guff' as you call it is one of the major issues with the sport and why fans up and down the country eventually decide, enough is enough, stuff this sport. 'Moving on' as you like to do it is all speedway ever does and is one of the main reasons it is in the mess it is. Indeed human history would have made zero progress had everyone adopted the same attitude of 'move on'. You want to see the sport continue to die? Keep 'moving on'.

Because it's all working so well...

And none of which would render a relation incapable of doing their job numerous days later..

Correct of course waiheke.

Careful. Rmc will throw a hissy fit and quit the forum.. again!

Another childish response. Try and engage your brain for one moment and come up with a reason as to WHY Woffinden would willingly choose to not try in the Elite League, putting himself at risk of injury (which happened twice), earning less money and losing the support of his fans... he's there anyway, he's not skipping meetings.. but you feel he'll go to all the trouble of turning up to not bother trying... hmmmm... In addition, if he's not going to bother trying, what was he doing overtaking people? What was he doing team riding team mates? What was he doing getting involved in crashes whilst trying to pass? If you're not going to try you'll do a KK and just give up at the back. Nobody denies he had a poor season for Wolves. It wasn't deliberate however.. and as has been shown, he didn't miraculously discover form in either the British Final or World Cup round.. he was still below par in both of those events. Anyway, we're not going to agree I suggest, so we should simply agree to disagree and move on... likewise with Orion and the Brumster.

Figures don't prove anything in terms of whether a rider was trying or not. Your claim is he wasn't trying.. reality says otherwise. Indeed Stevebrum in his weekly updates says otherwise.
-
The EL and the British Finals are contested on the same track, so can be compared. Sweden and Poland, as has been explained to you numerous times, is completely different. I don't need to make spin, I leave that to you to try and prove something ridiculous.
-
So some of you keep saying, except you have absolutely NO evidence to back this up. In fact evidence points that it has little bearing whatsoever.
-
No it isn't when you factor in the quality of opponent. You don't seem to grasp, the British Final is a far lower standard than an EL meeting. You're trying to claim Woffy was in 'GP form' for this meeting.. if he was, nobody would have touched him. You're arguing against yourself on this topic anyway Steve and it would be highly embarrassing for you if I had to start quoting you. You see, I've read through the updates from 2014 and meeting after meeting there are quotes from you of battles that Woffinden had been in, overtaking people, trying to team ride, being in good races. These are not things that take place when a rider isn't trying. What it depicts is a rider who should be scoring more than he is, but not through lack of effort, which is what has been suggested on this thread.

Let's hope they don't do something silly like let Lindgren go now he is on an attractive average. It's all going to depend upon what comes out of the AGM. A bigger league would suit us best and we'd be able to put together a very competitive team from existing assets, poss adding a new signing or two. If it stays as it is, as we all know, a no 1 is required from somewhere.. but that could be difficult. I do have a degree of sympathy for the Wolves management. They have always liked to operate with a core base at the top.. in years gone by it was Sam/Ronnie, Sam/PK, PK/Mikael, Freddie/PK, Tai/Freddie etc.. in any other era they would have been set fair for years to come with Tai and Piotr... sadly times have changed and that's not to be.

Try again.

Incidentally, thought I'd check this great performance you referred to at Kings Lynn in the World Cup.. 1st race.. Woffinden is beaten by Troy Batchelor and Gino Manzares!!! 2nd race he beats Max Ruml, Cameron Woodward and Vicentin who fell 3rd race he beats Doyle, Wells and Castagna 4th race he loses to Hancock, beats Ward who had bike problems. 5th race beats Batchelor, Castagna and Ruml. So reality is he beat Doyle and Batchelor of any consequence.. whilst also losing to Batchelor and Manzares! So nope.. not the best of performances there either. He didn't, but carry on making things up if you wish. As for him being 'so much faster' in the British Final... his time in winning Heat 2 was 53.98.. next Wolves home meet he won Heat 1 in 54.07, so pretty much the same. Scored 13 that night, 4 wins and a 3rd against a tough Kings Lynn team. Week after that? Paid 15pt maximum against Swindon. Simple fact is, he wasn't getting out of the starts at all well on a consistent basis that season.
-
Ah yes, that fabled engine that he lost to Jason Garrity on.
-
Showing your ignorance yet again. I have shown you his races at Kings Lynn, he was beaten 3 times v Iversen in meeting 1 and had a fall after colliding with Schlein in his other ride. No disgrace in that performance.. it also puts to bed your theory of 'not trying' as he's not going to be crashing whilst battling for the lead if he wasn't trying. In the other meeting he won his first two, was involved in a blanket finish in his 3rd when trying to team ride a slower partner, and retired in his 4th.. so again, no evidence there to back up your claim. The British Final, against a field of predominantly second strings and reserves he was outscored by Ben Barker and Craig Cook. So he won the final? Against riders far easier than he would be racing in regular league matches.. so again, no evidence to back up your claim again. Of course you'll continue to ignore what actually happened and create your own scenarios.
-
Not going to be until the AGM is done.. then speculation can begin!
-
You keep grouping Poland and Sweden together. I've been telling you they're different countries, different equipment, different backup teams/mechanics etc. The claim he was dominant at Wolves when not in Wolves colors has already been disproved, he wasn't. Ben Barker and Craig Cook outscored him. The claim he was dominant at Kings Lynn when not in Wolves colours has been disproved as he rode pretty well at Lynn, only Iversen getting the better of him bar a fall and a retirement.
-
I agree that wolves often don't make the required changes, however on this case, there was no option really. If anyone knew the reason it could have been fixed, that's the whole point!
-
Correct, those tracks ARE nothing like those in Sweden and Poland. Indeed Swindon is very different to Kings Lynn. If you think one big track is the same as the next, time to educate yourself again. There have been many many riders who have spoken about how the bike setups vary a lot from one country to another, mainly due to different types of shale and the way they are prepared. As for his 'meetings at Kings Lynn'.. let's take a look at them shall we. In the A meeting he was unbeaten in his first two rides.. in his third the update comments state "Best race of the night by a country mile. Bjerre gated with the other three close behind, handkerchief could have been put over all four for the entire race. Schlein last for the whole heat but swept tound Woffinden on the last bend, as he was team riding Wells home. Phew! So loses out trying to team ride Wells home.. and his final race he retired. In the B meeting... the only rider who beat him all night was Iversen who beat him 3 times.. with the exception of Heat 11 where the comments are:- "Woffinden in front from the off, but Schlein battles past him between bends 3 and 4 on lap 2, just cuts in front of Woffinden's pas causing him to fall. Woffinden gets up and continues the hat, but think he was lapped anyway, so he'd be excluded? So he falls off whilst tussling for the lead? Interesting for someone not trying. Back to the drawing board Orion.

Setups for English tracks are completely different to those in Sweden and Poland. Funnily enough, temperature, weather conditions, track conditions, material all play a part. It's not an exact science. Your point actually supports my argument, if it was so simple, he would have fixed it wouldn't he? Again, nobody has come up with a reason why he would prefer to be missing the gate or gating alongside lesser riders.. As a point about bikes working in place and not another, look what happened when Niels K Iversen guested for us in the playoffs, he couldn't get access to his UK bikes, so brought his GP bike with him, one he'd just done well on (may have won, I don't remember) in the GP that weekend. What happened? He was shocking, couldn't get out the starts on it at all.

Perhaps WK, Sidney and Starman are all the same person! If anyone wonders why the sport finds itself in the situation it is in now.. this post typifies it. Precisely the attitude that many promotions and their sycophants have taken.. the results are there for all to see.
-
Exactly, he mentioned this many times during the season, the setup that was firing him out of the gate the previous season, wasn't working and he couldn't figure it out. In addition to this, as good as Tai is, he was never a 'master' of Monmore to the levels that Sam, PK, Mikael Max, Lindgren had been in previous years. Although riding it most certainly has helped him on the world stage as his use of the cutbacks demonstrate!
-
No worries.

I didn't mention 2014.
