No it would be for the promoters, riders and fans benefit. Less riders missing from teams each week = more fans bothering to attend, hence better for fans and promoters. No fixture clashes allows doubling up riders to race in more meetings.
-
And still people miss what should be the whole point of the exercise. Running on DIFFERENT nights to the Premier League. If you don't do that, it's a total waste of time.
-
Well, I was assuming the promoters would have a modicum of common sense... which was I accept a little far fetched. If they run on Thursday and Friday it would be absolutely pointless, one of the most ill conceived ideas in speedway history and that's saying something. The days should be Monday and Wednesday.
-
As Orion is saying, fixed race nights helps in many ways. Firstly, it doesn't effect a single Premier League club. Secondly, it would mean that you wouldn't have riders missing because they were riding for another team in the same country. That helps massively for the Elite League AND also the Premier League. Increased credibility and less guests/RR which is better for fans. Thirdly, it is cheaper, you're not paying for foreign riders to fly in and out of the country a couple of times a week which can happen now. Fourthly, many sources, including riders themselves have said they would ride over here if the schedule was fixed. You keep claiming its about the money, partially correct, they would want a lot more money to ride in the current schedule due to the inconvenience it causes.
-
Correct, no need to change something that isn't broken.

The Curious Case Of The Invisible Chairman.
BWitcher replied to E I Addio's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Of course its deja vu. What Ford wants, Cook will run around like a lap dog to deliver.... then E I will try and paint a rosy picture of the corrupt goings on. Chapman has zero chance of improving the sport, he simply won't be allowed too and will be undermined at every available opportunity. -
You can have an opinion, but it's utterly irrelevant as funnily enough Wolves fans go to support Wolves and Cradley fans go to support Cradley. They don't jump between the two if they think one or the other 'has a better team'. Not a very difficult concept to grasp. The only snob on the thread is yourself, you are the one attacking a league whilst snobbishly claiming something else is better.
-
I have read the thread properly. A claim was made. It was false. Quite simple. The wider issue is another conversation which I agree with.
-
This is awesome stuff waiheke, keep it coming!
-
Yes it does. Clambo claims this rider has now discovered that 'most dates' are on a Wednesday. 4 out of 20 is not 'most dates'.
-
Then you're not a Wolves fan so opinion is irrelevant. I think Fourentee confirmed on another thread he is on the Gerhard engine this year in the UK.
-
Yes. And they do so on a regular basis when they think its the 'in' thing to do. However, as long as the sport promotes itself on tv with empty stadiums, they will never think its the 'in' thing to do.

How is it a load of old tosh? What he said is 100% correct. Just because Poole manage to build successful teams most years doesn't detract from the fact they have to rebuild season after season. I'm not advocating not having a pts limit, but what start fox says in the snippet you have posted is correct.
-
The idea of the points limit is to ensure a reasonably level playing field. As such the points limit should be set at a level that all teams can reach with the rider pool available, not at a level where a few teams can reach it and others can't. The points limit was clearly set too high to begin with. That said.. it was agreed upon and some times have gone out and built their teams so it would be wrong to go back and change it now.
-
In the old days he would be viewed as a 'star' as he'd be winning a hell of a lot more races than he would in this format. Secondly, is there a higher standard of league in the UK? No there isn't, so it IS the Elite League. If you have issues with a name, pop over to the Premier League section. That said, things are a mess, mainly due to the points limit being too high, which was pointed out by SCB when it was set. I'm sure certain promoters have given certain instructions to certain other promoters.. Nothing to worry about from your end Skidder.
-
No, that won't be able to happen, not to those levels anyway. Remember, averages are still rolling averages based upon 20 meetings, they simply change after the first 4.
-
I've already apologised and said to continue with the Lynn thread. I was asked a question, I answered it. As said, some don't like the answer and are now trying to argue against it.. I will say no more.
-
With the rumoured switch to fixed night racing in the EL next year all remains in place for Wolves next title being 2017. The return of Woffinden and Pawlicki on decent averages due to the 1 night format will lead Wolves to glory. 1991 1996 2002 2009 2017. It's going to be a long wait till 2026 though.

So on a night when a rider was being remembered, "Rule breaking" was decided as the best way to honour him. There is absolutely nothing insensitive at all about bringing up an occasion (as asked) when rules were broken. Apologies to Kings Lynn fans, I was asked a question, I've answered it... some don't like the answer of course. Now its been proven that Lakeside roll over for Poole, back to the thread, which is Kings Lynn.
-
I'm no Coventry fan, but I would find it hilarious if that happened. Just watch a sudden change to the rules be introduced...
-
The press releases made it quite obvious that they just rolled over regardless of your attempts to deflect or re-write history. You stated I couldn't provide evidence of a rule Poole had broken. I have provided it, you are ignoring it and concentrating on a different event.
-
Obviously in the incident you are referring to Lakeside simply rolled over and accept Poole cancelling the meeting. However, rolling over and accepting breaking rules occurred in another match between the two, the first Lakeside meeting following Lee Richardson's death. Poole were planning to use Sam Masters, who was doubling up that year with Lindgren at No 2. However he failed a fitness test. That then meant they had to use a facility, which the RULE stated is for the lowest averaging double up rider (lindgren). Hence Poole should have had a guest at reserve. Instead they illegally used Rider Replacement at No 2 for Sam Masters. Lakeside rolled over and accepted it.

I noticed when I was home at Christmas a somewhat different format to the E & S... so am I right its not an evening publication now, it comes out in the morning? Does this mean no paper rounds after school? What did he do wrong with Klindt out of interest, not sure I've heard of his error there before....
-
Yes there is, knowingly allowing another team to break the rules and allowing it is rolling over.
