If the BSPA had offered to seed Woffinden directly to the final and he had turned it down then I could understand a degree of disappointment/displeasure aimed at him. As it stands, the BSPA have arranged the British semi-finals either side of a GP. There isn't a cat in hells chance that Woffinden should even consider riding in the semi on the Friday night before, that would be ludicrous. On the Sunday afterwards there is a meeting arranged for those who suffered through the debacle of Warsaw last year. No doubt Woffinden is either contracted, or under heavy pressure to ride in that. Of course, he could disappoint 50,000 fans and let them down by not bothering. As for those saying if he can ride on Sunday in Poland, he can ride in the UK and it makes no difference.. are you serious? He is already in Warsaw, as are his bikes.. the meeting is at the same stadium! If the two things were related you might have a point, but they're not. The argument is we don't need Woffinden for the national team... how do foreign riders fit into that argument? "Nicki Pedersen is prioritising other countries over the UK! Don't pick him for Team GB!"... afraid to say, even on this forum, nobody has been dumb enough to argue such a thing... so your 'lack of consistency argument' doesn't really work.

Swindon V Poole Ela 27th March 2016.
BWitcher replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Why are folk blaming Swindon? Poole agreed to the date. Poole then wanted it cancelled. Poole are to blame. -
I've seen it and it confirms my point.

Woffinden wasn't eligible for Australia. It's that simple. That is where your childlike ignorance comes in. You've been told this many times, I've no doubt you actually know this, but prefer to ignore it to try and score points. Anyway, I hope the posts keep coming in from yourself and others abusing Woffinden for this decision as you are effectively abusing Peter Collins as well, you can't have one without the other... unless of course the real reason is nothing at all to do with being upset he is missing the British Final but purely a xenophobic hatred because Woffinden has the country he spent his childhood in close to his heart. As for your references to Wolves.. the keyword there is 'rode'.. he doesn't anymore, he's left Wolves in the lurch so why that would make me show allegiance to him is beyond me. If a rider is worthy of criticising, I'll criticise them, regardless of whom they rode for, Wolves riders are no exception.

To be honest I'm not 100% sure anymore, they seem to change it from year to year. Either way, it doesn't change the fact that Peter Collins skipped the British Final the moment he didn't 'need' to ride in it. No different from what Tai is doing now.
-
Tai Woffinden is already in the Grand Prix, therefore doesn't need to ride in the British qualifying rounds, nor does he need to earn a wild card for the British GP. Exactly the same situation.
-
Why? They didn't tell Peter Collins he couldn't ride again. They didn't tell Mark Loram he couldn't ride again.

I meant individual titles obviously but I take your point. Agree with your comments on the BSPA. -

How many world titles did he win -
Some folk are so selfish. There are 50,000 fans who bought tickets for the Warsaw GP last year... they are being compensated with an extra meeting on Sunday afternoon yet a few fans over here expect the World Champion to ignore those 50,000 fans and race over here in front of a few thousand. The reality is, the first semi-final is scheduled the night before the GP. There is no chance he was ever going to race in that... one poster quite brilliantly (in a bad way) mentioned that Chris Harris has often ridden on a Friday night before a GP. Brilliant! That's the way to go quite clearly with his level of success in such meetings.... As for the Sunday, Woffinden will be contracted to race in the meeting at Warsaw... where he is already present as are his bikes. The national championship is an individual meeting. It should be an honour to race for your COUNTRY which Tai does whereas Scott Nicholls for example, for quite some time has not. And if he doesn't, about 20 x as many fans will have a far bigger right to be annoyed.
-
No Chris Froome isn't a Kenyan because he was born to British parents, just as Tai Woffinden was. Your ignorance of the matter really is childlike. Woffinden didn't and doesn't qualify to race for Australia. There was no choice involved. As for showing some allegiance to Australia, that is 100% natural as he spent the majority of his childhood there and considers it 'home'.

Another jealous, bitter soul. Have you ever changed jobs? Do you still go back to your old job to help out or have you moved on to better yourself and your career. The sport has changed, it's time people understood that. Woffinden understands it and has adapted to be the very best in the current speedway world. He's a winner and will do whatever is best for him to continue to be so.. just as the great riders of the past did.

BWitcher replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
He's already done more than half the 'greats' you listed and well on his way to surpassing most of the others. Jealousy is a very poor trait. -
He's British because he is British. He didn't qualify to be Australian, that has already been discussed previously. If your argument is making things up, it's over already.
-
Yeah, because Woffinden has no clue on big fast tracks does he. I'd say Cook, Nicholls and Harris have a better chance of beating him at Monmore a track Tai was NEVER particularly dominant on.

British Final
BWitcher replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
If he did that he would be letting down his country a la Scott Nicholls. Instead, he's not riding in an individual event. The only person missing out is himself at a chance of a 4th consecutive British Title. More adulation. More Praise... doesn't quite fit in with it's the 'all about the ego' comments. Peter Collins a prima donna? How about Mark Loram? What about Scott Nicholls? -
Because Woffinden isn't choosing to dip out of the sport's highest competition.. in fact he is doing quite the opposite.
-
Brilliant post, agree 100% with every word of it. Just as Nicki Pedersen has done before the Danish Final quite a few times... yet earlier in the thread we're told how you wouldn't see riders from other countries do it. Holder is another one mentioned.... how often does he ride in the Australian Final? Basically all we're seeing is the usual British trait of bashing someone who is doing well.. jealousy for the most part.. xenophobia from others.

British Final
BWitcher replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Well done Tai, excellent decision. Tai has one goal, to be World Champion again. He will make tough decisions to fulfil that goal. Racing in a British semi-final the night before a GP is pointless. -
Darn you're right. He's unproven on any other tracks. As for not racing in the British Final? Good call if the semi's are either side of the GP. Winning the World Title is his No 1 priority. I do find it amusing though that many of the people moaning he isn't riding in it, are the very same people who were moaning he WAS riding in it when not racing in this country.
