It does make me laugh when I read posts like this... added into the 'predictable' comment earlier, also aimed at the EL. Once again a falacy. Elite League races are now more unpredictable than they have ever been.

There isn't a two sided debate if you understand the English language. It is nothing to do with 'opinion'. A quick google for the definition of the word 'Elite' reveals:- 1. a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society. Now, if you can name another speedway league in the UK that is superior in terms of ability you might have a case. I'll save you the time however.. you can't. And yes, I am like this in the real world. It's called being intelligent. Actually, no I take that back, you don't even need to be intelligent to understand basic English language. I'm interested, why have I ended up here in your consideration??
-
It's not an opinion, something which you sadly are totally unable to comprehend. The term Elite League is 100% correct, unless you wish to create your own version of the English language. It isn't 'so-called'. It simply IS. The Premier League isn't named correctly, not that it bothers me. The Elite League is named correctly.
-
Another pathetic post. The moment you use the words 'so called Elite League' may as well ignore anything else you say. It IS the Elite League in this country as it is the highest standard. The 'so called' league is the Premier League.

Correct, but how on earth is Lindgren first in line when he's so bad?
-
Bless. If you read his post it said 'in recent years'. It's a while ago Sedgeman rode for Lakeside. As for your petty jibes about Lindgren.. yep, one wonders how on earth he finds himself in the first GP of the season when as you say.. "Everybody beats him" One must ask.. if 'everybody can beat him', why weren't the Swindon riders all beating him?

Not a blinkered attitude in the slightest. Steve is exactly right in what he says. Clubs get their biggest crowds when they're winning. Wolves hammered everyone in 1996, but the crowds were good all season long and the racing top drawer. We may have been winning every week but had riders like PK who rarely made the gate and did all their work from the back. Interesting you reference 1998, are you suggesting Ipswich had lower crowds that year because of their success due to your claim that 'you and many others' picked and chose their meetings? I find that very hard to believe! Personally I don't have the slightest problem with Poole having a strong team year in, year out. That doesn't damage the sport at all, quite the opposite, they are a drawing card when they visit your club. As has been said many times, what damages the sport is the underhand tricks/stunts they have pulled along the way... most of which were simply not needed.

Did he? I watched till 8:55 when I went to the gym and hadn't seen a pass by that point... so 9:10 can't have been far off! In saying that, I still enjoyed it though. Having backed Leicester to win may have helped there a tad! -

What a load of waffle. Again, it isn't something to disagree on. There is a childrens section of the forum if you want to go and post fantasies. A race jacket is about 75cm by 75cm.. the logo on it can only be seen when looking at the front of the rider.. something you are rarely doing when watching a speedway race. A team suit is the size of the rider wearing it and can be seen from front, back, side. But you claim the small object that is only viewed from one angle is more visible. I'll have whatever you're smoking/drinking! I suggest you start campaigning that football teams abandon the strips they wear, just go with a logo on their chest, any colour for the rest will do as that is basically what you want for speedway. -
What have you said apart from type a load of .................'s for no apparent reason. Abuse people who have provided hard, tangible evidence behind their thought processes and finally make a raft of accusations with nothing to back it up and when asked to do so by E I Addio earlier in the thread, you've completely ignored that. You are asking people to grow up.......... (see what I did there) well, in a civilised grown up world, you are only taking seriously if you can back up the accusations you are making with some reasoning. That reasoning would give your 'opinion' some validity and garner some understanding amongst those you are debating with. They may not agree with you, but you wouldn't come across like a petulant child. Sadly you never do that, you just continue to rant and rave and when it's proven you are wrong you resort to abuse, both on here and on facebook. 'Grown ups' should also have the mental capacity to judge topics on an individual basis, not be blinded by club loyalties.

There isn't anything to disagree with. You're wrong. Period. You're still wittering on about a race jacket, something which covers their chest. The detail of which you barely see when riders are racing some distance from you, and more often than not you are seeing the side or back of them so the detail on the racejacket is irrelevant anyway. The very fact you still are talking about 'picking out' shows how wrong you are... There is no picking out involved when team suits are used. It's immediately apparent which team is which no matter where they are on the track, no matter what angle you are looking from. You don't have to wait till you 'pick' out a logo on their chest! Photos won't prove a thing, a nice still image when you can 'pick out' the race jacket. Speedway riders aren't nice and still, nor are they zoomed in on when you are looking from the terraces. If you want to go there with photos though, it will only harm your cause. Scenario.. photo of four riders two in the lead where you could 'pick out' their race jackets, two behind obscured, you can only see parts of their legs and their arms. With race jackets obscured you don't know who is on what team (ignoring helmet colors for the moment). With team leathers, you'd still identify them straight away. Simples. -

Should an online service be launched where you paid to watch matches, I can guarantee you many of them will be after ways to get it for free as well. -

BWitcher replied to Shale Searcher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
You are. It's not an opinion either over which is 'easier' to see which is what the debate is about. Unless you're claiming a small area on somebodys chest is easier to see than the whole person! Preferring one over the other is opinion but that isn't the issue. -
I'd have to completely disagree with this as well to be honest. Moran had a great style, but he was primarily a gater, certainly in the 2nd half of his career. Ermolenko was famed for his overtaking.. when he returned from his serious injury in 1990 he couldn't gate to save his life, especially at Wolves and earned all his points from the back. Even in 1993 when he had an 11pt+ average, he missed the gate more often than not.

I'll go with a 14-14 draw.

Totally agree. A large part of me misses the individual leathers riders would wear, I won't deny that. However.. and perhaps this is part of the point that Gresham is making, team leathers have to be done right. As the post above says, it looks silly when 5 riders in the team are in team colours and 2 other riders aren't... -

Such a fuss over fans wanting to leach something for free again, hiding behind the 'guise' of growing the sport. Speedway is simply falling in line with all other forms of entertainment. Do you go to the cinema and broadcast it on periscope? The theatre? Football matches? Cricket matches? Is it allowed in any of these places? -

You can beg to differ all you like, but you are talking absolute utter garbage. There aren't four riders in 'multi coloured' leathers. There are two riders wearing one teams leathers, two others wearing the other teams. Very simple. Immediately easy to pick out. Without helmet colours, looking at a rider side on with just a race jacket you have no idea who he races for if you're not a fan who can identify them by the bike etc. It's not even an argument that its easier to identify teams when they are racing in team leathers. Next you'll be telling us football teams shouldn't wear strips, they should all wear whatever they like but have a jacket strapped to them with their club logo on their chest. Make it nice and bold, sure it will be much easier to identify who they play for and everyone will be happy in the stands and on TV. -

This is why promoters don't listen to fans, when they come out with nonsense like this. There is absolutely no way that it was 'easier' to identify from a distance which team was which when all they had were race jackets compared to now with team kevlars. It's obvious at a glance now. Back in the day, you would be going off the helmet color. -

Are you serious? So, you are claiming that it was easier to identify 'teams' in the 'old days' from a distance that it is now with team kevlars? As with the line "I don't care about the result".. well that makes you a pretty insignificant minority as promoters know that the overwhelming majority of their fan base does care about the result.. and are the most likely to stay away if results go bad.
