  1. It's on the Belle Vue website. "Further defects have been exposed" Meeting off.
  2. Belle Vue v Poole now postponed too. Taken from Belle Vue website:- "During the course of the remedial works being carried out by the stadium contractors to Turns Three and Four, further defects have been exposed which require further attention and this has extended the work program. Belle Vue Speedway have therefore confirmed that their National League fixture against Coventry, which they were hoping to stage on Sunday April 24th, together with the Elite League meeting Belle Vue v Poole scheduled for Wednesday 27th April will not take place."
  3. Why? Do you still work for the first company who employed you?
  4. Mark Loram had as much media coverage in the last 10 years as Tai Woffinden? Dear me.. Try again.
  5. Name me any other British rider who brought the sport as much media coverage as Tai has.... just one.. go on. He's not doing any damage.
  6. Tai started in Australia, that's where he learned to ride. He was already a good rider upon arriving on these shores.
  7. I agree the new silencers have made quite a difference. That is far more recent though, long after the 'big decline'.
  8. Yet all the available evidence shows that what you are saying is NOT true. All of the footage from yesteryear shows that racing back then was as it is now, some great races, but many, many from the gate races.
  9. Yet there are many who have attended the sport for a large number of years who say otherwise. Let's also not forget that the mass exodus began long before laydowns etc were introduced.
  10. A few posters on the BSF doesn't constitute 'fans changing their views'. However, as you've brought it up, what is it that Tai is demanding from British speedway this season that is causing the sport to be 'in a mess'. Unless I've missed something he doesn't race in our leagues so there is no pandering to him whatsoever.
  11. Which is a significant factor in why the sport is dying. Every meeting shown on tv in front a paltry crowd is another nail in the coffin. It makes absolutely no difference if the racing is amazing either.
  12. I'm not suggesting a night, just pointing out the Danish League is a completely different situation. Agreed and lets not forget where most folk earn their wages, generally not at the company that trained them in the first place
  13. It's unlikely Tai would stop riding in the UK if it was one night a week racing here like it is, in the main, in Denmark. So, not a good comparison at all. Anyway, why are you upset about it? You're always complaining he is Australian. You're always complaining about Australians taking up places in our leagues that English kids should have. You should be happy!
  14. I think for everyone Sidders speedway was better in years gone by for reasons that have been brought up many times.. we remember the good stuff etc.. However, one of the biggest factors that made it all seem so much more exciting in years gone by were the larger crowds. The bigger the crowd, the better the meeting seems. Wembley 1981 is the biggest example of that.. take that exact same meeting, run it in front of 500 people and nobody would call it a great meeting.. but the racing wouldn't have changed.
  15. Not often we agree SteveO but we do on this one. Tai is not the one who has refused to race for Great Britain, but still wants the personal glory of riding in the British Final... that's Scott Nicholls. No, he's put aside personal glory but will continue to do his best to help the team, i.e. his country.
  16. Yeah, he's only Englands all time leading goalscorer. Said through gritted teeth as I'm no fan of his
  17. Good start to the season by Wolves. I think the first meetings against Belle Vue being postponed have done them a big favor too, particularly the home one. It is very likely, with the way the Aces have started the season and their prowess at Monmore that they would have come and turned Wolves over.. that would have immediately put Wolves on a downer and the thoughts of "here we go again" would have been prevalent. Now however, tails are up, confidence is high and the team believes it can achieve things. It puts them in a much better place to take on the tougher challenges that lie ahead in the form of teams such as Poole and Belle Vue.
  18. I'm not going to get any further involved in your nonsensical trolling. Run along to one of the other threads you're insulting people on.
  19. Bless, still trolling and insulting I see. Some folk are intelligent enough to learn other languages. As for any 'debate'. Still not grasping that it's not a debate, it's simply someone being corrected on an incorrect statement.
  20. They are obviously someone with a new account who has been on the forum for some time under another name. Their main purpose now is to troll and antagonise on as many threads as possible. It seems to amuse them... best off ignored.
  21. As reserves didn't race heat leaders in scheduled races in the Elite League in 2016 they clearly wouldn't be beating them very often would they! As Waihekeaces has already explained, riders averages are far more condensed which demonstrates they are all beating each other on a regular basis. So, as said, it's an incorrect observation and absolutely nothing at all to do with an opinion.
  22. Just as its always been then, apart from the odd few. As I've said many times on threads of this nature, if I just simply think back to the 1990's my brain tells me speedway was far better.. the racing was brilliant etc etc so I can totally see why people think that way. However, I have ALL of those meetings I attended on DVD and when I sit and watch them I soon find out that the racing wasn't what I remember. Sure there are some good races, but punctuated by many strung out ones. Back then I didn't care, I was younger, watching my heroes and if my team was winning all was good.
  23. An incorrect observation. The difference between top riders and bottom end riders is less now than it was in the 'glory years'.
  24. Which has nothing to do with your jibe at the EL where the riders in each heat are of a closer standard than they've ever been.
