It is to do with cost, but I would question how it works 'perfectly well'. Several times this season clubs have been winning all the way through only for big guns such as Woffinden and Zmarzlik, or Hancock and Pawlicki to then team up in several races at the end and change the match completely. That was and still is one of the biggest flaws of that system.

Now now, self abuse isn't the way to go.

We are discussing a pts system. Kindly explain why the pts system used in speedway 'adds to' a circus side show image? And why pts systems in other sports are deemed acceptable?

That's because most riders start riding at a much younger age. Sam Ermolenko didn't start racing till he was 21/22.. he peaked aged 33 and arguably only injuries slowed him up from there.

I take your point, but it isn't like substitutes in other sports at all, mainly as only the losing team can do it and the difference is quite vast. You could say it's a bit like in a cricket match a side struggling 7 or 8 wickets down and they can then bring in their best batsmen again instead of the no 9. Also, riders aren't simply 'gifted' double pts, they have to beat riders to get them.. but as I said, I understand where you're coming from. As has been said many times before, in terms of 'fairness' the current tactical system is the fairest the sport has had. Like many others though, I do prefer the old tac subs..

Completely agree that the points system is one of the best things the sport has brought in. I've heard the same story regarding the 2pts, 3pts home issue and to be honest, its just promoters looking for excuses instead of embracing the real reasons why crowds are down. Generally it will be some numpty who doesn't understand having a whinge... but they are the type who are there every week anyway. Folks not coming if the team is losing every week I can understand, but I really can't see many, if any at all not coming because their team only got 2pts instead of 3 in a match they won.

Totally agree regarding King, Lambert needs to be in the team though so one of Worrall/Nicholls should be left out of the dry track team.

It never ceases to amaze me how thick speedway riders can be. Cook gates, all he has to do is go out into the dirt into turn 3 and the title is his, instead he lets King just ride right round him. Awful, awful, awful. Well done to King for having the sense/balls to ride the right line!

Yep.. fantastic racing, GP after GP from the worlds best riders. Who'd want that.. you're right to be bored. Same old riders? Yep.. Woffinden has been in it for years.. as has Zmarzlik.. Pawlicki, Doyle. 70's must have been awful, bet folk got sick of Olsen, Mauger etc

Not at all... that is the 'main' demographic, not the only one. Dad dancing at a pool party to Little Mix is not a 3 x World Speedway Champion in contention for a fourth though is he. This forum is getting more bitter and jealous on a daily basis. Let's get this straight, the only one laughing in this situation is Hancock, all the way to the bank.

Monster's main market share is in the 27-37 age bracket, which isn't as far off from Hancock as some on here would have you believe.

Well if you haven't noticed it in almost ten years of racing then it's hardly likely you would have. His team riding has been on display countless times in tv meetings and has been discussed on this forum as far back as his Rye House days.

You've clearly never watched Woffinden ride much then as he is a brilliant team rider and has been doing it from a very young age.

I don't need to trip you up, you're doing a fine job of that yourself. You cannot give any form of opinion as to whether the sport is exciting now if you don't watch it. It is plainly ridiculous to even attempt to do so. I am far from a protector of the sport and criticise it and the promoters a lot. However, I watch the sport, attend when I can and as such can comment on both the good and the bad. What you saw years ago has absolutely zero relevance to the sport now. Your own local track, Belle Vue has a fantastic new stadium and a track that has been producing thrilling racing that ANYONE with even the slightest interest in speedway would find entertaining. You however, because you feel that you should not have to pay to get in, do not attend said track and continue to fire your barbed comments from home with your curtains drawn. Should you go along to the new stadium and don't find it entertaining your opinion would have some validity. As it is, you're just moaning for moaning's sake.
