In other words, I'm talking absolute rubbish but I'm not adult enough to admit it (again) so I'll act childish and storm off. There is no debate to be had. Wolves have the option to sign a rider, within the rules, just as any other team does, just as any team in any other sport has the option, within the rules of their given sport.

I love speedway fans. "Woffinden is a disgrace for not riding in the UK!" "It's a disgrace Woffinden is going to ride in the UK!"

Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
BWitcher replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Someone will be taking a holiday from the forum soon I expect. -
Wolves aren't signing Woffinden. He is already a Wolves asset. They're also not bringing him back into their team 'just for a major cup final' are they? Or have Wolves not got six league meetings left? Finally, with regards to football teams. They have rules regarding when you can and cannot sign players. So yes, the 'powers that be' would allow a player to be signed within the transfer window. Speedway also has rules stating when changes can be made to a team and Wolves would be operating WELL within those rules. So if that's 'all you can say', your argument is pretty poor.
-
It really is quite simple, IF it happened, which I still doubt it will, Wolves are replacing a 7.06 rider with a 7.03. Nothing to see, move on.
-
It really isn't a difficult concept to understand.. Kylmakorpi scoring 0 does NOT help in terms of replacing him. Your comment is up there with some of the most ridiculous on this forum... we're now to believe that if a rider 'can't be arsed'.. the sport cannot be taken seriously if they are replaced!!
-
Got to love it.. "A world champion ringer".. Yep, a club asset who has ridden for the club for six years and has an average below that of the rider he would be replacing. If Kylmakorpi had been riding well the conversation wouldn't even be happening, as it is, he's just contributed 0 0 0, a shocking effort. Now, I don't know what fantasy sports your so called friends follow, but most fans of any sport would be wanting someone replaced who contributed such a performance. The real issue here is nothing to do with fictitious friends, it's your panic that Wolves might beat you.

Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

Nothing to do with being a sycophant, it's to do with being a polite human being. -
Has to be now if it will happen. Makes sense as his Swedish League fixtures are finished before next Wolves match.. and quite possibly his Polish too. I've been puzzled as to why people expected more from Howarth. I've never ever rated him highly and in particular never thought he was much use at Monmore. He did surprise me at the start of the season with some excellent scores and I think that gave some a false perception as to what he would produce.. Absolutely no point in putting in Clegg and Morris though, he is still better than either of those two and does have the ability to pop out and win unexpected races. There is one move Wolves have to make, that's bring Woffinden in for Kylmakorpi. Then they have a chance to contend, otherwise it will peter out with a semi-final defeat.
-
So after checking a few things. Tai's last fixture in Sweden is August 16th. The last league match in Poland is August 21st. At the moment his team are not in the play-offs and could be out of them by end of this weekend. Wolves next fixture is 22nd August. We all know the main issue for Tai is the travel schedule... well that travel schedule will be gone. Even if his Polish team reaches the play-offs he wouldn't have Sweden on the Tuesday after Wolves on the Monday, which is the killer. In addition Tai will need fixtures to stay sharp for the GP. It's a move that benefits both parties and should be done asap.

Without a doubt it is 100% the right move for Wolves to make to bring in Woffinden if at all possible. I can't see how anyone could protest either, he's a Wolves rider and folk are moaning he doesn't ride in the UK . Seriously though, as much as I wish it would happen, I just cannot see it. Hopefully the Wolves promotion will surprise me and show just how much they do want to win or at least attempt to win the title this year. That being said, we're not due this year anyway.... Dear me, this post is approaching Starman levels of idiocy!

Yeah, Wolves are only so high in the league because of Masters at reserve...

Well Done Woffy.

Except we do know. Tai has won plenty of gold. -
Can only be an innocent mess-up, it's not as if there is one team benefiting ... oh wait..

You're really not thinking things through are you... you'd be binning team riding following that line of thinking. -

Except the crowds were falling way before the play-offs. I do see the arguments you are making and they have credence, I don't think it's a deal breaker though. Scrapping play-offs isn't going to suddenly pull the punters in. The key, as always, is marketing and presentation. Get those two factors right you can sell anything.. get them wrong and the best product in the world is a tough sale... speedway has been getting it wrong for years! I agree with you on the double TR stuff, I don't like it.... all I have argued is it not because of 'fairness' which some like to try and claim.. more to do with, it's just daft! If a rider had to start 15 metres behind, you can explain that.. they get double because they are handicapped. -
What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?
BWitcher replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yep, because there are so many businesses that operate just how they used to.... What old time speedway fans fail to realise is one of the biggest reasons the sport has declined so much is the very fact it HASN'T changed enough and is still very much as it was in the 'old days'. Like any business, if you don't continue to evolve, you will be left behind. -

Is that seriously the rule being proposed? Tac subs if a team is losing by any margin? If so, utterly ridiculous. Totally agree with you New Science regarding rushing meetings through being of no benefit. For a 7:30 start I would say 9:15 is a reasonable finishing time to expect. That's right, we don't want sense or truth on the forum. We just want hyperbole statements that are utterly incorrect.. "You know a sport is in trouble when they keep changing the rules!" screams Gresham.... well, pretty much every single one of them is in trouble based on that argument but don't mention it as he'll have a hissy fit. If you want to really kill of speedway it is. Fans want better value for money, you think offering them two less races is the way to go. This is why promoters don't like asking fans things because they get such ridiculous responses. How about we just have two lap races? It will save on fuel costs, races will be shorter, you can put the two minute warning on for the next race when the tapes go up on the current one and everyone can go home by 8:15. -
What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?
BWitcher replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Do you? Most sports change rules every year. Another thread where White Knight spouts nonsense about fairness, ignoring the sport is as fair as it has been in the whole time he has attended the sport. Moxey tells us two heats less will give the fans the value for money they are crying out for.. And Gresham just starts swearing and abusing people who dare to question his opinion.. whilst simultaneously screaming it's a forum and opinions should be respected.. what he means is, HIS opinion should be respected. As for the 'changes', it's good to hear that these changes are being tested now and as SCB says it might be worth putting proposals into the public and gaining feedback. Weed out the sort of nonsense we see on this thread and it can help to identify any problem areas with proposed ideas. -

BWitcher replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Simply because I cannot comprehend anyone could be so foolish to consistently come out with such nonsense.. one day you'll see the light. You don't go to speedway because of the 'unfair' tactical rule. Yet the rule is the FAIREST tactical rule there has been in the history of you attending the sport. Makes perfect sense. -

So you have no interest in fairness then. You're right, you have answered it multiple times.. and completely contradicted yourself.. as you have done again. The current system is the LEAST contrived that has been used. -

What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?
BWitcher replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Of course not, because you'd be foolish.. yearning for the days when there were far more 'tactical' changes and it was far 'unfairer'. Now, there will be a maximum of one tactical ride in a meeting.. and in many meetings there isn't one at all. You don't churn very often then, just once a year at the World Cup? Which of course is irrelevant to league racing in the UK. Then to top it off you want to return to a system which encouraged precisely what you 'churn' about! And yes, 13 heats is a great idea! Fans already complain about value for money from 15 heats.. lets take 2 away"
