  1. Well they do most winters.. I know of a care home that had 19 die in two days a couple of years ago. Around 3000 a week die from flu/pneumonia in England and Wales alone during the months of Dec-February and around 2500 a week in March.
  2. You've been given the facts and their official source. "My wife says" is not a fact. The Office of National Statistics is fact. It's time you grew up.
  3. As also explained on the other thread.. flu is not the killer by itself, although it does account for the deaths listed by DC2 above. The biggest issue is, flu can develop into pneumonia. In 2017 2.6 million.. thats MILLION people died from pneumonia worldwide. 800,000 of those where CHILDREN aged under 9. One THIRD of those cases developed from FLU. So you can add onto the figures solely attributed to flu a further 850,000 or so that develop into pneumonia. Now how does this fit into Covid-19? It's reported that in almost ALL serious cases of Covid-19, it has caused pneumonia.. (Sound familiar?). However... when they die, it's not reported as pneumonia but as Covid-19.. or 'complications from Covid-19'. The reality is, with both flu and Covid-19 in the overwhelming majority of cases you get over it fine... it's when they develop into pneumonia you have the problem. The problem is that Covid-19 cases developing into pneumonia are on TOP of the normal flu cases developing into pneumonia... which of course can contribute to overloading the health systems.
  4. Somewhat similar to Daniel Andersson who was around a few years later.
  5. Finally, read the above post and actually learn instead of disrespecting all those whose death was brought on by flu/pneumonia, or was the death of Chunky's parents and grandmother a 'conspiracy'. Viruses kill those who don't have the immune system to fight them. Covid-19 is bad because it's a new one to add to the list, which is big enough already.
  6. What are you wittering on about now? You are the one not accepting facts and fabricating stories. There is no conspiracy story, that's you trying to deflect away from you making yourself look foolish. Again, the evidence is right here, scroll down to Section 3 and all deaths this year are recorded, broken down by All deaths, and those with flu/pneumonia and those with covid-19 on a week by week basis.: https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/bulletins/deathsregisteredweeklyinenglandandwalesprovisional/weekending27march2020 It even actually states: In Week 13, 18.8% of all deaths mentioned “Influenza or Pneumonia”, COVID-19, or both. In comparison, for the five-year average, 19.6% of deaths mentioned “Influenza and Pneumonia”. “Influenza and Pneumonia” has been included for comparison, as a well-understood cause of death involving respiratory infection that is likely to have somewhat similar risk factors to COVID-19. If you have an issue take it up with those responsible for compiling death certificates. Does it mean Covid-19 isn't a serious problem? No it doesn't. It simply provides a comparison and some context.
  7. Too right, absolute epic race, lost my voice in that one for sure. The whole of 1996 was amazing. I was fortunate enough to get to every match home and away that year and will never forget it, so many memories. Stewart McDonald in the Cup Final 1st leg at Long Eaton, riding injured.. Winning that final, with our home leg on a neutral track just topped it all I think. I remember the crowd that night was massive, Wolves, Peterborough and a load of Long Eaton fans there for the occasion too.
  8. Hard one to call, I think Mikael was the more naturally talented (although I hate that phrase normally). I remember seeing him on Screensport whipping the top boys in Sweden when he was just 16... somewhat akin to Joe Screen in his debut year. His debut meeting for Wolves in 1993 was at Cradley.. the team had been decimated by injuries, Mikael, aged 18, came in and promptly beat Hancock and Hamill in his opening two rides before being wiped out by Morgan Anderson (think that was his name, but anyone feel free to correct) in his third. There were fears he'd broken his leg.. fortunately after a hospital trip it wasn't that bad. He was developing into a genuine contender at the top of the sport until he had a really bad crash in the Australian GP, suffering concussion. He was never quite the same after that. Leigh was one of my favorite away riders. I liked him from a very early time. Still got a Leigh Adams mug from way way back, around 1991-2 ish I think. Poss 1992 thinking about it as that's when he won the World U21. It's one of those mysteries why he never became a World Champion. One thing is for sure, it's great when a club has a rider of his ilk represent them over a long period of time. Swindon had it with Leigh and Wolves have been fortunate to have it with a number of riders in recent times, starting with Sam Ermolenko and Ronnie Correy, through the Karlsson brothers and of course more recently Freddie Lindgren. Tai Woffinden too but to a lesser extent. It's such a shame British speedway has gone the way it has or Lindgren/Woffinden at Wolves would be a partnership that I think would have surpassed Ermolenko/Correy, Ermolenko/Karlsson, Karlsson/Max, Karlsson/Lindgren etc.
  9. My sister and I were one of the first to get Mikael Karlssons autograph when he first came to Wolves. He was very shy and headed straight to the van he shared with his brother Peter. Peter was in the pits signing away happily, Mikael was sat in the van with his window up.. My sister wasn't waiting, just tapped on the window and he timidly opened it and signed. It wasn't long before he was much more approachable, especially as his English got better.. but he was always more on the shy side compared to PK.
  10. You can abuse all you like. Just because you are unable to accept the truth is not my issue. I absolutely 100% guarantee you know plenty of people who will have influenza/pneumonia on their death certificate. They most likely had other conditions that you would say they died of, but very often when folk are vulnerable, it's a virus they catch that sadly ends things for them. You don't say they died from the flu though, you say whatever the main condition was that they had. That isn't the case now. Every death where they had covid-19 is labelled as that.. even if they had cancer, leukaemia... or heart failure for example in the case of Eddie Large. THERE lies the difference. I bet you say Freddie Mercury died from Aids don't you? He had aids, but it was the flu, which developed into pneumonia that finished him off. If he was around now and caught covid-19, it would be reported he died from that. I'm not going to debate your alleged stories, perhaps they are true, perhaps not., I am debating reality. And that reality is.. absolute 100% proven by official government records, is that up till March 27th of this year there were a total of 28398 deaths with influenza/pneumonia on the death certificate. If the truth pisses you off, so be it. It's beyond me why you are so worked up about it.
  11. You do realise at least 80% of cases aren't tested? Try again with countries that test more. USA has tested the most, its 3.5% Even that's not accurate, as there will be thousands that aren't tested... plus there will be more die of those already tested. No figure can be given with any certainty at this stage. One thing is absolutely certain though, its nowhere near 6,8 or 10%.
  12. At Wolves you can go down to the pits pre-meeting, usually up until around 7pm. You don't go into the pits, but your standing alongside them looking in with numerous bikes against the barrier less than a metre away. Riders often wonder over for photos or a chat. There's usually around 100 or so fans congregated there.
  13. The first part still happens... but not the second part as you say.. ridiculously so. Was any kid ever injured in that fashion?
  14. Correct, they are the same, thank you for admitting that. So same method used, but flu/pneumonia is 25% higher.
  15. Yes it is incorrect as you have no idea of the amount that have contracted it. Nor are people tested 'again' in general for a case to be 'closed'. If you applied the same theory to flu/pneumonia, you're looking at a death rate of over 50% so it's nonsense. I don't need the 'last say'... as I am 100% correct in the figures I've given. Folks are triggered because it makes them look rather silly in the way they've been reacting... That's their issue.
  16. Incorrect again, but hey, lets make it up again shall we! Death rates are impossible to calculate accurately as the overwhelming majority who have it are not tested. 5G masts has nothing to do with it, that's for the lunatics. Some people are just too brainwashed to understand how many lives are lost to flu/pneumonia. It is mentioned, NOT to dismiss the severity of covid-19, or claim that covid-19 doesn't kill people. It is mentioned to give CONTEXT. There are people who were thinking that 100-200 people dying a day was something unprecedented and worthy of locking yourself up inside. If the country took that line of thinking, it would be locked down every single winter. Personally I think it says a lot about a person when they casually dismiss upwards of 30,000 deaths in just over three months as 'inconsequential' or 'irrelevant'. It's a virus, spread by social contact in the same way as Covid-19. Covid-19 is of course very very serious, for a very small % of people and it is they whom the measures in place are trying to protect. Anyhow, the point of this debate was simply to do with the discussion of when people would feel 'comfortable' to get back out there business as normal. Once the covid-19 deaths are back down to around 200-250 a day, then it will be no different to a normal Dec/Jan/Feb day... with the exception being children are more at risk on a normal Dec/Jan/Feb day than they are at any time from covid-19.
  17. No it doesn't have a 'death rate' of between 6 and 10%. When in doubt, make it up eh?
  18. Freely available to view the figures here: https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/bulletins/deathsregisteredweeklyinenglandandwalesprovisional/weekending27march2020 Scroll down to section 3, hover over each week on the graph.
  19. Who said anything about not respecting the medical advice? There is no theory involved. I've just given facts. The fact you don't like them speaks volumes. The office of national statistics is the official source of recorded deaths in the UK. It is the same body responsible for the covid-19 tallies. If you have an issue take it up with them. Abuse all you like. It is definitive fact. Does it mean Covid-19 isn't dangerous? No it doesn't..
  20. Not at all, I am talking about daily deaths in the UK. All figures are available on the Office of National Statistics site, the official collater of all stats. Up until 27th March 28,398 had died from flu/pneumonia in the UK this year. Actually 6,000 below the average. Anyway, it's all been discussed and figures provided on the corona virus thread.. and not just by me. If you don't believe me, go here, scroll down to section 3 and hover over the graph for each week. It will tell you the number of deaths that week. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/bulletins/deathsregisteredweeklyinenglandandwalesprovisional/weekending27march2020
  21. Incorrect in every one of your statements, but don't let that stop you.
  22. Of course it isn't completely invalid. They are both viruses caught from social contact with others. If you die, you die. It's not something extra special if you die from covid-19. As for the experts?.. Yes, they told us without a lockdown 20 x more people would die.. Only problem with that... it hasn't happened in countries where they've not locked down. The 'experts' don't know. That is what they assumed would happen... and it hasn't. That's why their projected death figures change day by day. It's all new. Besides, this discussion is nothing to do with that in the slightest. We're discussing when covid-19 eventually goes away.. and as I have clearly said, if the media were telling you 400 people were dying daily, people would be scared of going out. What we have established though Falcace is 350-400 deaths a day from social contact is irrelevant to you.. so, I assume, in a month or so when flu/pneumonia deaths are down to around 100-150 a day, if Covid is down to around 250 deaths a day, all is good with you right?
