  1. On the Devon Live website they are carrying a story regarding a new Stadium? For people who don't know Torquay United's current ground sits in a high density residential area that you would imagine is worth a considerable sum of money. Read the story and some familier names connected with Speedway and new Stadia rear there head? What do you think?
  2. Ok thanks for the advice but I was originally talking about the Bob Kilby book. I will bear it in mind though.
  3. Yes, ordered mine yesterday - looks good!
  4. Going off on a slight tangent from this topic, do you think the collapse of the sports market could be that many "Stars" bring out books after gaining five minutes of stardom instead of sitting down at the end of the career to write there memoirs?
  5. Thanks for the reply. I have already purchased the above titles and as you said they are very good. Both provoke some great memories of times gone by.
  6. With Cardiff looming on the horizon are there going to be any new Speedway books due to be published?
  7. No disrespect to Paul Hurry (who has been a terrific servant to the sport) but I thought the creation of the National League was for younger riders to develop and hone their skills which would then enable them to progress their careers through the other leagues.
  8. I am not necessarily advocating the Carer goes free as I understand the financial state of British Speedway but I do feel a small reduction in admittance would be justified and appreciated. My Son has an acquired brain injury so outwardly there is no sign of any disability, a brief communication with him you would think he is fine. It is only spending time with him you will realise the problems he has.
  9. Having visited Poole yesterday I would like to know from other Supporters the policy on admission for Disabled persons. Although unlike Football (and most other major sports) where providing proof and in receipt of a certain level of DLA you can take a person as your Carer for free. Obviously, I understand the financial state of Speedway and the ageing demographic that this could be financial suicide but I know from experience that some tracks providing you can show adequate proof they will allow that person in for the same price as a Senior Citizen (this I understand correct as a family member for many years oversaw the gate income/expenditure on race nights at a local Southern based team). I am just interested to hear what the situation is around the Country from other tracks. Note, I am not advocating a Carer is allowed in free but I feel a slight reduction in admission is appropriate. Also, as an aside to this it may be worth Promotors informing Gate staff/operators that not all disabilities are visible.
  10. If this is correct and i hope it isn't i for one will be cancelling my Sky subscription for June, July & August as apart from Speedway I have no interest in the other Summer sports. We have just worked it out and would save us approx. £240. Just keep BT Sport for the Grand Prixs and a complete switch to them could be tempting provided the right package is available.
  11. Hi, are Somerset hosting the Premier League pairs this year prior to the GP at Cardiff?
  12. Hi, it has been quite a while since I was fully up to speed on the rulebook and would like help on the following. If a team has Rider Replacement and then name a number 8, when and who can he takes his rides? Is it purely to replace the R/R and what is the minimum rides he would get? Thanks in advance.
  13. Hi, can I ask the following regarding the rules: If a rider touches the tapes the Team Manager can either bring in the reserve or send the original rider back of 15 meters. Now, if the 15 meter option is chosen and the rider goes before the green light would the re-run then be held with just 3 riders only? Or, if the Manager brings in a reserve and he breaks the tapes can he be replaced by the other reserve or would this be with 3 riders only or would the reserve be allowed to go off 15 metres? And finally in theory could more than one rider go off 15 metres? Thanks.

  15. From all the vibes that have come out from this years AGM everything sounds good - lets hope everyone will pull in the same direction and make it work. One question though regarding promotion and relegation, what happens if the Championship side doesn't want to go up or threaten to withdraw if they are made to move up (or in that case move down) thus ruining the credibility of the sport.
  16. Apologies, yes you are right. Memory is playing tricks! Who was the rider who went over the fence on turns 3 and 4 and snapping one of the wooden 1 metre exclusion barriers?
  17. I remember Richard Green being catapulted over the safety fence on the apex of the first and second bend at the County Ground and ending up down the embankment near the lane that ran near the perimeter of the Stadium. A real heart in mouth moment but thankfully one he walked away from.
  18. Is there any money left from a former promotors estate that could be used for the 'betterment' of Plymouth Speedway or has that money already gone in keeping them afloat? Sad time for Speedway in Devon!
  19. Hi Phil, thanks for your help but as is law of sod the item has turned up this afternoon. It looks as though somewhere along the delivery process the item has got damaged and was re-packaged by the guys from Royal Mail. Thanks again for your help.
  20. Hi, has anyone purchased anything from the shop on the SGP website? If you have how long does it take from ordering to delivery? I ordered a jacket two weeks ago and as yet received nothing. More worrying is that I have twice emailed them and have had no reply. I am now trying to make contact through PayPal but at the moment nothing. It is not very good customer service for a slick organisation the SGP wants us to believe. Has anyone got any advice or is the just another example of the disregard the people involved in running Speedway have for the supporters who are the lifeblood of the sport!
  21. Hi, can anyone tell me what time the practice starts on the Friday at Cardiff please?
  22. Thanks for that. I kind of guessed that would be the case but just wanted to check for sure.
  23. If a team hasn't got a full quota for some reason, i.e, rider not turning up, one being injured and that team then having to run a number of heats with just one rider would the other team when using a rider on double points (if they are in that position) still have that riders points double if he finishes third in a race with only three riders?
