British Final 2023
a4poster replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I know he doesn’t have to but I wouldn’t it be a tremendous boost for the British Speedway if Woffy did ride in the British Final. An event that has held such prestige in the past but has seen it sadly diminished since the inception of the GP’s. -
Simon Stead and Oliver Allen.... Stand down?
a4poster replied to eric i's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
From my point of view if Woffinden performed to the level that is expected of him we would be World Champions and Messrs Allen and Stead would be lauded as tactical genius' as we are only talking about a two point swing. -
Nah, not a chance. Just watch the annual backslapping and everything in the garden is rosy attitude when the Cardiff GP comes around!

Does anyone know when and where this season’s (2023) Premier League Riders Championship is taking place?

I feel for Torquay Does this sound familiar?

Yes, many a happy Saturday afternoon were spent watching ITV's World of Sport. Personally I think the demise of the show - that had made many riders of the time household names - it also had a massive detrimental effect on the sport itself, as Speedway not only disappeared from our TV screens (for a number of years) it also disappeared off the radar of many people's minds, this coupled with the damaging News of the World scandal a period the sport has never recovered.

Thanks for the reply. We are going to try and make it quite early in the season before the Eurosport coverage starts. Ideally would love to go back to Belle Vue but if for some reason - weather/other we can flip over to Wolverhampton. Well that’s the plan.

Has anyone any idea when the fixtures are released? I am looking to schedule some away tracks to coincide with a few other trips.

Has anyone looked into creating a Speedway Supporters Trust with a view to bringing back the sport too Brandon. Supporters from all over the country could buy into the project regardless of club alleigiences. This trust could call itself the National Speedway Trust with individuals paying a monthly fee. It’s aim would be to bring defunct tracks back or help bring new tracks to fruition. The trust would have stakes in any track that was bought back until it was deemed to satisfactory to sell - once tracks are back they simple wouldn’t be handed back to a individual or promotion.

Any news on how the meeting went?

Grand Prix Rules.

Thanks for the reply. I should have added the rider scored 6pts - 2 race wins, but only competed in two of his qualifying heats. where as the other rider scored six points from all his programmed rides. Thanks. -

One other thing. If a Grand Prix rider scores 6 pts - 2 race wins - but only competes in two races is his score better than a rider who scores six points, no race wins, 2 second places, 2 third place and one last place in the qualifying heats? -

Thanks for your replies. -
Just a quickie to settle an argument. If after the qualifying heats were completed and prior to the semi-finals are taking place one of the top eight riders have to withdraw from the meeting would the rider in ninth be promoted to the semi-final or would it be completed with just the three remaining riders. Thanks in advance.

Don’t forget Eastvile (Bristol Bulldogs) - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42958113 when it was sold to Ikea! Plus Poole who come under the Stadia UK banner! https://www.poolestadium.co.uk/ How long will it be before Poole will have to miss a season whilst the Stadium is being developed only to never return.

I don’t think anyone is surprised. Should Torquay United be worried - https://www.devonlive.com/sport/football/football-news/torquay-united-scrap-plans-new-3412818 - sounds similar to the infamous Reading Racino! Club appear from the outside to be being wound down! Lost their Football League status in 2014 and now sit at the bottom of the National League and attendances around the 1700 mark. Of course nothing as grandiose as those plans will be required if the direction they are going in continues.

It was the Stadium.

I purchased my tickets over the phone but have had no confirmation. The person who took my order said the transaction had gone through and the tickets would appear on the app but as of yet nothing. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Thanks.
