too much time spent on this forum blunts your sense of humour and irony. Apologies for doubting you

Please put my mind at rest and reassure me that you are being ironic?

Poole Pirates 2021
George Dodds replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Surely they hold his registration - nothing to do with contracts. -
that's got to be a positive

I fear people are remembering the Odsal of the late 80s and 90s. Went to a rugby match there this summer and the place is falling apart, terraces weed strewn and crumbling concrete. Without rugby I cannot see how Bradford Council can possibly keep it open. Speedway's only hope would be to piggy back stock cars but I suspect they would prefer a tarmac track rather than shale.

Not sure what level of the English football pyramid Berwick would have to join but assume that it's something like the Northern Alliance. I would respectfully suggest that is something way below Lowland League - or East of Scotland League for that matter - level and might be quite a hard sell to players and the public alike. There must be a way around the grant system as the likes of Newport, Swansea, Cardiff and Wrexham have, over the years, not seemed to struggle from being in the English Football League. Think the important focus of the plan is that Shielfield could become a genuine asset and focal point for sport in Berwick rather than a football ground which also stages speedway.

65 miles further north this time

To be fair they had to make those journeys to get a ride anyway; at least they can do it as a team next season. There is a decent crop of riders from the NJL who, hopefully, can form the basis of the new Devils.

Very true - Clear Energy donated the two season passes they received as part of their sponsor package and they were raffled off, from memory, at the Edinburgh and Glasgow Championship Shield meetings.

Last year not necessarily the same as this year ... or next year. Things change, complaints are noted, action taken where possible
-
Hopefully. It's something the club is actively looking into. There was a theory that with your 10% discount you could buy a top quality bandits' jacket from the savings you've made from buying an early-bird season pass ... and still have enough left to treat Sarah to cheeseburger and chips a couple of times

Seems a strange interpretation of the post AGM statement. The only obvious mention of north and south is to work out who faces who twice and who faces who once. Talk is of the top six teams in an extended playoff - not top three of each section. Suppose we'll see when the regs are finally published.

Apparently joining Alex Edberg's Escort Boys

Didn't notice that contradiction at the bottom of the release so apologies. I did check with the Berwick promotion before the original reply and they say it is Championship League and KO Cup only in 2020 and the season ticket is valid for the 16 league fixtures.

AFAIK the only doubt was Newcastle's participation. That would have thrown a spanner in the works and we don't really know what the contingency plans were had the Grants not taken over. So with that solved there's no reason to think that we have not reverted to the position decided at the AGM. Release was "The Championship will operate a new-style league format in 2020 aimed at giving clubs more meaningful and more local fixtures. Clubs will be split into North and South sections, and will race the other clubs from their section twice and home and twice away, whilst facing those from the opposite section once at home and once away. In addition, the play-offs for the second tier have been extended and will feature the top six clubs." Not sure where the confusion about the Shield comes from as it has never been mentioned except, perhaps, in some badly written press articles or web posts. Believe the clubs now have to submit their preferred fixture lists for scrutiny on the basis of the above.

£9.93 if you're a concession and there's 10% off merchandise

No Shield this year. Season is 16 home Championship League fixtures. Only other guaranteed home fixture is one KO Cup match. Progress in the KO Cup, qualifying for playoffs would extend the season but there is no standalone Shield. Think some have been confused about the league set-up which sees us race the other five northern teams home and away twice and the southern teams once. One big table, top six qualify for the playoffs. So to clarify the pass is for the 16 home Championship League fixtures.

But the point was that there was still the opportunity to reach the play-offs and with Aaron Summers also out injured rider-replacement wasn't really an option - especially away from home. Didn't work out in the end but the effort was made.

think jacobsen is still property of the BSPA (was a rye house asset when they folded) but I'm sure you're right about the the rest
-
surely it's the same as league - you only pay for your own riders - five each, although of course the home leg has to pay for the three away ones.
