  1. Fine I'm not getting into an argument. I genuinely would love to know why, apart from sheer bloody mindedness why anyone would refuse to attend because they cannot pay cash. Are these people who still get paid weekly in brown envelopes, take their pension books to the post office on a Monday, pay their electricity bills with pound notes and wait for the rent man to call every Friday or have they successfully adapted to change over the years? As for apps on your phone -great idea and once the cost of developing one has been clawed back potentially a moneymaker but pointless if people then insist on paying cash
  2. But it's not a "gimmick" is it? To accept cash they would have to build turnstiles, find/employ volunteers/staff comfortable with or willing to handle cash, security to protect them. Someone has to find a bank branch open and queue to withdraw cash for a float. Somewhere secure has to be provided overnight to secure the cash or arrangements made for it to be collected by securicor or similar. Then another queue at a bank to deposit the next morning. All against downloading an app onto a phone and scanning a QR code. Card payments are probably down to the charges from the collecting systems - between around £1.50 per transaction as they are based around volume - the charges start to fall dramatically once you handle 250,000 transactions. I think a lot of clubs envy Oxford's position of handling minimal amounts of cash and the fact that tickets are available online until 15 minutes before start should accommodate last minute decisions. 2021 post Covid proved the numbers unable to buy tickets online were minimal. Anyone genuinely struggling should contact their clubs directly and I would suggest that in 99% a solution could be found.
  3. Not sure but it would be rough if someone who was only replaced through injury cannot then replace someone who's injured when they are fit again. if that rule doesn't exist it really needs to be written and implemented immediately.
  4. 15. Started the season with Oxford when Killeen waited for his passport. Broke his wrist in a practice crash at King's Lynn so replaced in their line-up. Likely to be redeclared by Oxford with Killeen injured i would have thought. Not sure he can be blamed for either crash .... not least because he was behind Luke and in front of Greg.
  5. Yes I know the answer - very little demand probably due to their relatively low crowds and admission price. Slow connection when required to print receipts. Two of the three meetings streamed were from empty stadiums with no other demands on the upload connection - but not without incident. Birmingham I don't know as I was busy elsewhere in the stadium that day and don't know what specific measures BSN had in place. Seem to remember complaints on here - but that's not usually a true measure of reality. Feel free to invent a parallel reality to fit your agenda.
  6. As I said earlier if the answer was simple we'd have taken the simple answer but as that doesn't suit your agenda then continue to think you have all the solutions and the rest of the us are idiots
  7. No idea what you're on about regarding streaming as we don't. The problem is reliability of signal at the periphery of the stadium. Obviously a reliable, secure signal is vital to run card payment equipment. If the solution was simple we would have taken the simple solution.
  8. Unfortunately you assume wrong and to avoid any confusion: Payment is by cash or online ticket only. Providing reliable and secure wi-fi to the outlying areas of the stadium is an on-going challenge.
  9. libel, defamation - a few other laws that publishers of public content have to abide by
  10. Averages after tonight at Oxford (four matches) which come into effect seven days later. In practical terms the new line-up will be used for the first time when the Bullets face Kent on May 21. Unless something truly bizarre happens at Oxford then Mason and Ace will trade places with Ben and Kieran.
  11. Policy at Berwick is refund for online tickets, on the day payments is readmission ticket valid for any future meeting including but not limited to the restaging of the abandoned meeting. Would imagine that most tracks are similar.
  12. Was part of the Scottish junior league team alongside Wayne brown, Rob grant snr, Mike caroline etc. Think he owns an antiques shop in Bridge Street these days.
  13. Can't remember ever saying you were smart ... back on ignore you go
  14. a genuine question as all I could see was a discussion over who the berwick promoters were despite the fact that they have not changed since pre-season 2019. As Sarah has so helpfully pointed out it was about the BSF invention of Bomber signing for Oxford. Now it all makes sense. I'll leave the smart-arsing to those such as yourself who are far more experienced at it.
  15. Berwick did it to fill the gap left by eastbourne's demise using two teams from their rider pool. Four tactical rides (nominated by team managers ) and a nominated heat 15. Needed minor tweaks but basically a decent option as long as team managers are on the ball.
  16. are we certain there will be seven-man teams? There was an interesting experiment with six-man teams last year which worked reasonably well.
  17. Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen unavailable due to on-going physical and mental exhaustion. Jason Crump guests for the Bandits. Marcin Nowak named as Tigers' number six for what will be his first away match in the Red and White Stripes. Aaron Summers to make his last official appearance in Berwick colours having announced his plans to retire. Northern Junior League double header featuring Ashfield and West Lothian Wildcats. tickets berwickspeedway.com/tickets cash turnstiles on the night.
  18. time for Britain to get more involved in staging SEC and GP qualifying rounds in addition to age group championships
  19. or encourage those already coming to stay at home, watch it for nowt and save £17 - at least until the speedway stops running and then they wonder why there's no free streaming for them. Because something can be done doesn't mean it's an easy way to make money. Because it isn't being done doesn't mean nobody has thought of it. Probably that it has been considered, all the options properly costed and it would not only not make money but would likely add to the losses. No-one would argue that Glasgow isn't a leader in the use of social media, streaming, advertising etc. Let's not forget that before Covid their owners warned that the six-figure annual losses incurred on the back of that could not and would not be sustainable. There is no quick, cheap fix.
