The Elite Pairs Prize Money.
Hackett replied to Sir Jasper's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
IF the BSPA havent paid what was stated as the prizemoney for the Pairs, if I was Ward or Holder I would boycott the ELRC ... Then if asked on Sky Sports tell all + sundry. -
Grand Prix Speedway 2011
Hackett replied to westo97's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Pedersern at 10s seems decent value ... If you can get 12s would be worth an e/w shout. Has put together a new team behind the scenes + would be most unlike the Dane to have another season like 2011. -
No Team Gb In 2011 Under 21 World Cup
Hackett replied to Pinny's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Surely this goes against everything that Rob Lyons has preached since taking over the role. I would guess finances come into the play. From the press last year a lot of the U21 riders were having to pay a substantial sum of money to get to the venues for very little financial reward. I would guess it is simply a case of economics. Personally IMO this is what a % of the Sky money should be used for - funding the development of young British riders. Increasing there speedway education. No matter what the chances of winning we should be entering a team. -
Good Luck to them if they have chosen to take the drop to the PL .... If as Peter Adams suggested each season most Elite League clubs are losing £70,000 makes sense, I doubt that PL speedway would effect there attendances too much. Plus they would have relative local derbies with Kings Lynn + Rye House.

Woffinden out ... that will derail the Sky Sports Woffinden band wagon. Mind you bet he still gets mentioned more times than Frampton / Robson ;-)) -

Wonder if Troy Batchelor is invited Believe there is going to be tag team wrestling in the pits during the meeting ...... -
Do you work for Hagon shocks !!!!! Kennett in the SGP he failed to even make the latter rounds of the qualifying. Failed to make an impression at Cardiff and cant ride big tracks particularly well. Farcical !!! So much for the best 15 riders + Wild Card in the SGP series.
-
For me commercial implications should not dictate who rides in the series !! For that very reason no Brits in 2010 SGP series. Harris has bombed all season in the SGP and failed to qualify in the Challenge on his own track. Woffinden IMO a season too early. He has made significant improvement but he failed to win the U21 and is his sponsorship and equipment good enough to compete on a world level. Another year and I think Tai will be right to consider. However simply through the lack of British competition and Sky Sports influence I can see him getting the nod, especially with the success of ES.. I would go for the following : Lindgren just missed out on the top 8 - Top of the Elite League Averages in UK. Fits the IMG remit - young and marketable. Lindback - Two decent meetings as a Wildcard. Backed by Rickardsson (sponsorship opportunities as Meridian Lifts bailing from the sport) , fits the IMG remit - Young and Marketable. Hans Andersen - Should be a major contender but struggled this year a previous GP winner. Parken provides IMG with a decent crowd and if Vojens used again will need another Dane. Zagar - Would be the outsider but on decent tracks would be a dark horse. Fits the IMG criteria.

Wish the guy well , not liked by everyone but is a true professional !! Wish him well in his last GP -
ITALIAN GP Another nail in speedways coffin. Bad track, bad racing, bad entertainment, somebody give BSI or old olsen a slap because this is dire. As for start girls blue is far better than the racing.

Elite League Pairs 08/08
Hackett replied to woofers's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Think the prices for the Super7 events are determined by the SCB / BSPA rather than Eastbourne. £20 seems a little steep if they left it at £15 could of possibly been a full house. -
Think the riders may of been right !

This was an incident at Ostro .... riders were not happy with the track and at 6pm were complaining about track. A little later announcement made that the meeting was on and then at 8 o/c the meeting cancelled. 200 / 300 Polish speedway fans were then trying to remonstrate with the riders but were prevented by 20 security guards and locked pit gates.

What does it matter .... if he wears a Team Aussie t-shirt. Speedway is not like football - riders can represent 3/4 teams, ride as a guest for other clubs . If you really want to jump up and down , Tai has got an australian flag tattoo on his shoulder !! imagine just a case of him sitting in the pits helping a mate out and told to wear a Team Aussie tshirt ....

I cant believe all this moaning how can people moan when every rider, rode their hearts out. I personally, had to watch the re-run till 2.15 am because of transport problems in London meant I missed the live showing. Despite staying up halfway through the night I am very proud of the British riders, I thought they made a great fist of it and Team GB came so close to making the final. This is a 3/4 year plan not for now , so all you could ask for was for the riders to give 100%, they gave exactly that and they just missed out. The Swedes had riders that were much more experienced in high pressure situations then us, that counted alot in the latter stages. Rob Lyon came in and stated he wanted a youth policy. If he had bought Nicholls in then many people would have questioned why he went against his word. I cant believe this argument about Scott Nicholls, how can his form merit a call up. Last year people were caning the experienced riders and shouting from the forum rooftops to bring in the Young guard. Lyons has done that and still people moan. The criteria of him taking the job was to work to a 5 year plan, I seem to recall. European SGP May 2009 - Scott Nicholls - 1 0 0 0 0 - 1 Good to see the likes of Roynon and Kennett in Poland helping out ... and reading the Speedway Star the likes of Bridger, King etc all stated they would go to support the team if not selected. King and Bridger did well on Monday so they totally deserved their chance. Admittedly they struggled at Lezno but if they can learn from the meeting and the experience all is good for the future. More experienced riders than they struggled in the run-off. 3. Niels Kristian Iversen - 1, 0, 1, 1, 1 = 4 4. Hans Andersen (Captain) - 1, 0, 0 = 1 2. Adam Shields - 1, 1, 2, 0, F = 4 2. David Ruud - 0, 1, 2, 0 = 3 4. Jonas Davidsson - 2, 0, 1, 0 = 3 The lads can be proud of themselves they pushed all the way to heat 25 but in the end missed out to strength in depth to the Swedes. Rico was excellent and Bomber gave it everything, Tai was in the thick of the action and got some important points on the board. If the BSPA look at the SWC as a whole , I think one matter they should certainly look at is getting some training schools pre-season sorted in Poland to benefit the youngsters. Kennett and King don't even ride in Poland. Tai and Lewis get limited opportunities. Team GB should take a boot camp / training week at 3 tracks in Poland where it would be possible to train, practice set ups etc . If they are serious about the youth policy they need to back the riders properly and help further the speedway education of 5/6 riders. Well done GB tonight valiant in defeat and I for one am so proud of them.

Swc Race-off
Hackett replied to Danish Webmaster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Beautiful , perhaps we will get a glimpse of the true racing track that Lezno is seen in the Polish League. Noted the little dig by Sky sports team stating that no dirt on the track in SGP's is to keep the advertising boards clean. -

Excellent effort from Lyons Cubs tonight. To be honest I think Team GB with Scott Nicholls and Lee Richardson will struggle in Lezno and Pboro was all about gaining experience. Last night was a learning experience for the Team GB and in truth possibly the worst performers were the most experienced riders on show - Kennett and Harris. For Bridger, King and Woffinden it was all about gaining experience on the World scene. None of the riders can be questioned for effort ... and Bridger had it nailed when he was caught on camera saying "we are doing better than they did last year" So what did they learn ?? That you have to make the start at the top level or you are up against it from the start. Possibly that there kit was not quick enough. Not for the want of trying as Bridger had 5 engines with him at Pboro. 3. Great Britain 34 1. Edward Kennett 0-1-1-1 = 3 - Has always struggled on big tracks. Remember seeing him at Ostrow in the World U21Final and he failed to dominate despite one decent heat. Last night was gating on par but just not quick enough. In heat one hit the front and then was taken by two riders. No doubting his effort but needs to get a Polish contract and learn to ride the big big tracks. D 2. Lewis Bridger 1-2-2-0-1 = 6 - In amongst it at all times and will take away with him that he defeated Gollob and Sullivan at Pboro. Needs to improve his gating but the boy has balls and has a good style for the bigger tracks. A season at Swindon or Pboro and more regular rides in Poland will bring him on big style. Needs to learn how to ride when the tracks get slicker and dial the bike in. He struggled at Poole in the British Final when the track went slick - When he had a chance to make the final got 2 x duck eggs. Last night struggled in his last two heats but a good effort from the Eagle. C 3. Chris Harris 2-0-6-1-2 = 11 - Excellent effort in the "joker" ride to take the 6 points but never looked as quick as the poles , Crump or Zagar. Despite being the top scorer was not the out and out dominant number 1 the Young Lions needed. As we know Bomber never lacks effort but seemed to ride far too wide in a couple of heats. C- 4. Tai Woffinden 1-1-1-1-1 = 5 - Seemed to struggle with set ups and did not look quick all evening. Was obviously disappointed and again gave it his all. But lacked top end speed. Has experience in Poland so should still be on plane to Poland. D 5. Daniel King 1-3-2-2-1-EF = 9 - Was like a "Little Loram" fantastic effort blasting around the outside of Gollob. Rode his heart out and 100% effort. During interview seemed tLooked a little slower in his tactical heat then bike went on the line. Deserves the Poland experience for his all out efforts. B Team for Lezno : Richardson Bridger King Woffinden / Nicholls Harris -
Gb World Cup Team
Hackett replied to DarrenCook's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Think Lyons should be applauded for bringing in the Lion Cubs .... It is simply an win win situation, last years Team GB performance at Coventry was dire, on a home track they were pitiful !! Any likelyhood of beating both Australia and Poland at Peterborough is fairly remote so this gives Lyons the opportunity of giving the youngsters experience on the world stage with little chance of it blowing up in there face. Slovenia are virtually a one man team in Matej Zagar , therefore Team GB should be safe in securing a play-off place whatever the result. In Poland Richardson and possibly Nicholls can be brought in if so desired for experience. Whatever the situation any performance has to be an improvement on 2008. Last season everyone was moaning at the team and shouting for the young guard to be brought in , now Lyons has done so. Team GB are unlikely to win anything in the next 3/4 years so this gives the team an opportunity to gain a speedway education. If the SCB had any idea the team should be spending all weekend at the Peterborough getting dialled into conditions and the track.
