  1. Eastbourne - Ian Jordan was in the press both local media and Speedway Star stating riders , outstanding debts , season tickets , refunds , air-fence sponsorship monies would be paid back by Oct. Carol Jordan was sending replies to some fans stating delays or check your bank account etc etc - Now it would seem they have gone incommunicado . One un-named rider told Speedway Star he hasn't been paid. Jake Knight stated the very same on facebook and now Drew Kemp has said much the same in the Speedway Star. Pretty poor but nothing surprises me in how speedway is run.
  2. Hopefully more positive news that Eastbourne ...... not a peep ....
  3. Birmingham Speedway @BrumSpeedway · We know it’s quiet right now but as soon as we get more news on the chances of us racing in 2022 we will bring it to you. We are as anxious as you for some positive news -
  4. On an Eastie Facebook Group - It looks like nobody has received a refund and as JAKE KNIGHT wrote the riders have yet to of been paid so very little chance that a ticket refund is going to happen. Just a very sorry state of affairs unfortunately. Feel sorry for the riders if they have yet to of been paid.
  5. With the demise of Eastbourne this was my first live meeting since the British Final and was standing in the South Stand 20m fro Woffinden's crash. How he managed to walk away I am not sure. Having got back from meeting thought I would check on here to see if any news on riders but to get people moaning about the racing just amazes me. Possibly not as great as the Grand Final but still a great nights entertainment ...usually sit in grandstand but family were in South Stand and position entering 3rd bend gives you a great understanding + perspective that riders put everything on the line. Some tight tight racing into that bend. As expected the Polish look a class above and always thought this would be a race for the minor places. Hope Tai and the Swedish riders are not seriously hurt as they were serious soil samples.
  6. My family and I aren't locals and have always found it relatively easy to get the bus from near Manchester Piccadilly and then 5 walk to the NSS. Usually plenty of buses run to Belle Vue / Hyde Road.
  7. Fully deserved and congratulations to Peterborough Panthers , were the better "team" over the two legs. Really impressed with Dan Bewley , what a racer his heat win in 13 would of been worth the admission money alone. Really good meeting over two legs and fair play to the Panthers and the Aces.
  8. Top meeting that !! Superb speedway and fair play to the Panthers for knuckling down and battling back. Scott Nicholls was excellent - Sure he will be happy that he has the pace around the NSS. Bomber with his usual Grand Final exploits. Role on Thursday ... Enjoyed that meeting.
  9. Prime minister Boris Johnson has spoken out against the building of new homes on "green fields" and in England's "overheating" south east in his conference speech, and instead indicated a preference for "beautiful homes on brownfield sites"....... so with new housing surrounding the stadium site it is only a delaying tactic until excessive costs force closure of stadium announcements. As for Polish league speedway eventually destroy leagues in all the other countries ...... they need to cut their cloth accordingly. The top tier of riders have every right to chase the money which is the Polish League and then what works financially or logistically. Unfortunately the local Government or City Councils are happy to support + promote Speedway most of the new stadia is funded by City Councils and most are accepting of the sport plus they see the City having a successful Speedway team as a positive for promotion , tourism and media opportunity. In the UK we are all about noise pollution and closing venues down.
  10. Shock !!! Wish Tommy B well ..... has come on leaps and bounds this year at Eastbourne !! Now to make the next step.
  11. Bury the bad debt and start business again.
  12. People in the know will be able to answer this better than I BUT recall Len Silver being interviewed at Arlington earlier this year and stated that riders are no longer assets plus teams don't have the finances to purchase riders like they previously did. So if you are Eastbourne and Brennan is your asset , it is no longer possible to sell him to Belle Vue or Ipswich Witches for example. In terms of Eastbourne wanting the same team as the cancelled team - I still think that was an honourable thing to do although if giving riders guarantees and Premiership wage levels is true that was never going to work. In terms of presentation it is difficult the facilities at most tracks are no better than 2nd tier non league football grounds. PA systems are dire. Currently I would work it around that no meeting should run longer than 90 minutes - if no crashes or stoppages. Break it into 4-4-4-3 heat quarters and riders ready for the next race immediately + put on 2 mins as soon as riders leave the track so that the racing is nigh on continual for the 4xheat quarters. If a tapes infringement etc straight round to the start none of this sitting at the pit gate and refuelling, having a chat and taking time for a couple of selfies - 2 mins should already be on so the racing should flow quickly. Track grading can take place between the quarters. It could mean on some occasions the main meeting is done and dusted in just over an hour - then so be it.
  13. Young Speedway riders - travel not an option.
  14. If Cookie chooses to take time out - Lawson and Brennan will be announced on Fri.
  15. Most are working from home at the moment - Have you seen London recently "ghost town" - ;-) As stated on thread the issue is the demographic of the speedway fan - For clubs like Birmingham , Newcastle and Eastbourne state that they were missing fans who could not order tickets online - In this "Amazon Age" and supporters couldn't order tickets online there is your problem. My family has always gone with an old guy - who only went because we were able to order his ticket. "Transfer the money - oh we can't do that .... would have to go to the bank" unfortunately that is the issue for many. Speedway is a hand to mouth existence - No support - leads financial problems. Hopefully this will be a case of bury the financial mismanagement and bad debt and start again - like many a business has over the years. However if the new promotion will have to clear the debts first (£30,000-50,000 has been posted on here.) No potential speedway promoter is going to look at that at an option - no oil oligarch's or Saudi Prince's in speedway. Nearest we had was the Dark Lord of Wimborne Road and he chose to move to France. Fingers cross for a return but SPEEDWAY needs to be restructured with an independent body leading it into a new era - not a group of promoters papering over the cracks - year after year year, after year.
  16. Glasgow, Edinburgh Redcar, Scunthorpe would all lose points !! Edinburgh had an away win so valuable points gone there.
  17. Guess when the kids have finished school , I can look at moving to a property on the old Arlington site - perhaps a house in Dugard Close or Norris Road or Kennett Avenue.
  18. Brennan and Lawson to Glasgow. Kerr to Scunthorpe. Newman to Plymouth. Kennett to quit. Kemp to Kent
  19. If that is the case Arlington soon to be housing.
