  1. Can anyone help with details of the 1982 World Pairs Championship qualifying round held at Krsko, Yugoslavia on 2 May? I think the meeting was won by Hungary but don't know any more than that. Thank you!
  2. Can anyone help with the following details from the 1982 European Junior Championship: 1. Rider scores from the qualifying round at Tampere, Finland, on 29 May 2. Rider scores from the qualifying round at Shumen, Bulgaria on 30 May 3. Rider scores from the semi-final at Landshut, West Germany on 4 July 4. Rider scores from the semi-final at Nyiregyhaza, Hungary on 4 July 5. Individual heat details from the final at Pocking, West Germany on 18 July Any help would be appreciated.
  3. Any chance Bob Garrad turning out for Hackney Hawks in 2011. Now that would be something...
  4. There was a similar meeting in 1975 when Scunthorpe were at home to Workington in the New National League. It was on 18 August and after heat 7 the scoreline was Scunthorpe 29 Workington 13. After that Workington collected two 4-2s and four 5-1s to finish winners by 41 points to 37. Taffy Owen scored 16 points from 6 rides for Workington to spearhead the remarkable comeback, and Robbie Gardner, Lou Sansom and Terry Kelly all provided valuable support.
  5. For me 1980 was one of the best seasons. Not only did my team Rye House win the National League after a few years of being there or thereabouts (and with practically the same side each season) but we had a British 1-2 in the World Championship. For me things started to go down hill in speedway after the end of 1980.
  6. I don't know where he was from, but he was definitely a local junior Rye borrowed when they visited Weymouth (or was it Poole, I can't remember) that day.
  7. Hi Steve, I've emailed scans of the following programme racecards off this list to Jim Henry: Middlesbrough v Belle Vue B, 22 June 1961 Eastbourne: Easter Trophy, 21 April 1962 Weymouth: Best Pairs, 27 July 1962 Middlesbrough v Sheffield, 4 October 1962 Middlesbrough: Battle of Britain Trophy, 13 September 1963 Middlesbrough v Australasia, 20 August 1964 Middlesbrough: Battle of Britain Trophy, 3 September 1964 (my programme is only completed up to heat 10) I have a few of the other programmes too but I either haven't dug them out yet or their racecards are blank. Best wishes Richard
  8. Yes, this brought back memories - we loved watching him at Arena in 1984 and 1985 and they used to play "I wanna be .. Bobby's girl" when he won races. One of the best meetings we saw there in 1985 was when Arena beat Ellesmere Port 40-38 and that was all thanks to Bob gating and then holding up the Gunners for Martin Goodwin to come through for the 5-1. Brilliant!
  9. Olle last rode in the UK for King's Lynn in 1975. He finished racing in the UK when he was not allowed to race for Boston in 1976 as the National League prohibited riders from outside of the Commonwealth.
