Is the weather going to delay the start yet again?
-
Live updates list Robert Kosciecha in place of Artem Laguta, is this confirmed?
-
Thanks to everyone for your kind comments - this is my first go at live TV commentary so I'm learning the ropes as I go along. Only major mistake yesterday apart from Kim Nilsson (thanks to whoever put me right on that one!) was forgetting that substitutions aren't allowed in heat 11 which is effectively a second heat 2. I will know for tonight - tune in again all! Dave Goddard.

It's off... DUDLEY Heathens Speedway have regrettably had to cancel tonight's eagerly awaited FAST Golden Hammer meeting at Wolverhampton due to the adverse weather. The club are keen to do the showpiece event justice in the best possible conditions and it WILL BE RESTAGED later in the season. Dudley's next home meeting is at Birmingham next Wednesday, July 21, against Isle of Wight Islanders. (taken from Dudley official site)

Worst I've actually seen was Jason Bunyan and Sam Ermolenko going right through the first bend fence (and greyhound rails) and almost into the pits at Monmore. The slow motion replay (it was on Sky) showed that if Sam had been another few inches to the left his head would have been hacked off by a fence post. A very lucky escape for both riders. I have the Danny Bird/Mark Simmonds crash from Exeter on video, and that's probably the worst I've seen anywhere.

GP Predictions Round 2 - Prague
Dave Goddard replied to Lioness's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
1. Leigh Adams 2. Jason Crump 3. Tony Rickardsson 4. Jesper B Jensen I'm gonna go for broke on Jesper given his great form of late. Depends who the ref is I suppose! -
Crasher Warren! (Welsh riders in the 30s before you ask)
-
The setup at Wheels is still very cheap - the only real difference is the track is now tarmac!
-
Birmingham Wheels is famous if you're a stock car or banger racing fan! There is talk of the Perry Barr track (the one opposite One Stop Shopping) reopening for speedway, but it's only talk at the moment.

Who's Doris????
Dave Goddard replied to stevehone's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
My dad was shouting at him too! Also, "Doris" isn't strictly a Millardism - we came up with that ages ago. Is it about time to start a "Millard Out" campaign? Others he always uses (these will have appeared before) are: - "Like a knife through butter....." "A lap and a quarter to go...." I think we've all had enough of him by now. I suggest Sam Ermolenko (if he retires at the end of the season) as a replacement. (PS: I put all this on yesterday, but it disappeared due to the server change - apologies if you have already read it) -
WTC Event 3......
Dave Goddard replied to Jenn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm watching the meeting now (having just got my cable TV back after the weekend power cuts!) Have you seen the name of one of the Russian unknowns? Best first name in speedway! (edit) Sky have it spelled differently to the World Speedway site - check it out! -
WTC Event 3......

Lindback? I hope so - he's brilliant! -
Event 2 tonight - Come on Team GB.
Dave Goddard replied to MAD 3:16's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
These two have to be two of the best young internationals in the world today - I hope they get GP places in the next couple of years. Are either of them in the final at Poole on the 17th? -
I think the idea of covering tracks if rain is forecast is one of the best ideas ever in speedway and should have been implemented years ago. It would also mean Wolverhampton would have a less crowded fixture list.
-
Or the beginning of the William Tell Overture at other places. It tended to be one or the other. William Tell Overture was played at Birmingham and Ipswich (probably still is at Foxhall). I think Arena use it too. The ultimate speedway song has to be Eye of the Tiger - it's great to go out on parade to as it gets everyone really fired up. (or maybe just me :? )

The World Cup - Predictions
Dave Goddard replied to Jive's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
After qualifier 1.... 1. Denmark 2. Australia 3. Sweden 4. Britain (optimistic) 5. Czech Republic -
Event 2 tonight - Come on Team GB.
Dave Goddard replied to MAD 3:16's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Come on you Brits! 2nd place at least in my opinion - even with such an old team! Also, does anyone reckon the Italians will score more than five? -
Why no Simon Stead?

How about bringing back the Scottish Junior League (This makes me sound really old, but I'm not) at Edinburgh, Glasgow and Berwick? Or add Newcastle, Hull, Workington, Sheffield and maybe even Belle Vue and make it a Northern Junior League. (unless this competition already exists....)
