John McNeil also had a coupla other songs about speedway - one I remember vividly was "I Ride At Number 7" He was over our house one afternoon /night when he was staying with Glyn Taylor who used to live around the corner, bought his guitar along and was brlliant. Me and my brother keep asking him to play "I wanna be like Ivan Mauger" & "I ride at number seven" time & time again (we were only about 8 & 11 at the time) he must of played them at least 10 times that night. Happy Days I ride at number seven I'm always at the back When i ride at Hackney......and so on

Sweden World Champions 2003!!
Ozyace replied to Robbo's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Congratulations to Sweden, to win it without TRick means they thoroughlly deserved to win. Bad luck to our boys, i could see the Danes or Poles giving us a shake but Sweden WOW! -
Absolutley. My apologies

Pete, lets put a coupla things straight here, because this is one of my biggest bug bears pal. Who would you want to see win a world title, be it S.G.P., F1 or to win the league in soccer(sorry football) the 2nd best the 3rd best who. These people, teams win year in year out because they are the best in there competition. They can only beat there opposition that they race / play against maybe a little luck may go there own way but i am a firm believer that you make your own luck anyway. Geez we got people over here who don't like Manchester United also. I am not a Man U supporter but they have proven to be the best team year in year out. (someones gonna have a go at me about its because they got all the money etc, etc..blah ...blah ...blah) Schumacher: don't like the bloke - but respect him as being the best driver in the F1, may well have been different if Ayrton Senna R.I.P. hadn"t lost his life so abruptly - confidence is an amazing thing. Mr Rickardsson - I would have loved to have seen a world No.1 plate go to Crumpy, Adams Sullivan. but at the end of the day Ricko has been the best rider in the world (consistenly) for many a moon. Professionalism was never this good. Pete do not worry your day will come when these guys get beat and i bet you will be one of the first to say 'remember the good ol days when Valentino Rossi would stand on his seat and cross the finish line on his back wheel' People may long for a change, but what is wrong with champions.
-
The Poles? The Poles? The Poles? The Po......... OH the Polish team Yes great bunch of lads .......but really! 3rd tops!
-
Rickardsson out of SWC?
Ozyace replied to Pete's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think 8 points is an outrageous margin! I'm sure it will be a lot closer than that if we win at all. Sorry emporer if the aussies win it will be by four points max. 8 points indeed. tch tch I wish -
Will Mido Keep The Same Team?
Ozyace replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Whatever team Middlo picks it's your duty as being British speedway fans to get behind them. Geez I'd love to see Johnno in the Aussie team - but having just spoken to him, it's hot where you guys are and apparently and he's of to the rub a dub! -
Sorry to be the one to spoil the party. I, like you hope the G.B. team go well but i'm afraid you will be a few biscuits short of a tin. Now I'm not here to say that the Aussies will win, but if they fail i think that Denmark will be the country to pick up the slack, With a Loramski in the team maybe but i am not going to knock the fellas who at the moment have performed superb. Shazzybird - with your endevour and optimism maybe you should open the batting against South Africa.
-
Good on ya Shazzybird! Bout as much chance of getting kicked to death by a duck winning this one but a nice group of young uns in the team with a few proven performers aswell. As they say in the classics "The only way is up, Baby"

Go the mighty KANGAROOS! Its been a while since Skippy has seen a speedway match but i hope he tunes in for this one...................I digress! 8) As i have posted earlier on another thread that speedway is a fickle sport and not in the least in a World Team Championship event. (you know the deal breakdowns, falling) It may be O.K. to have this happen in a league match once in a while, but if it happens on a world stage riding for your country with your teamates and yourself no doubt giving 100%.............boy wouldn't you feel like sh... This is not something i wish on anyone and could well happen to us Aussies. I hope we can pull thru again for everyones sake at least not Toddy Boys as its his last season. :x Also good luck to G.B. it would be nice to get a podium finish....2nd behind Aust. is good enough for me. I do not really want to put this down, but maybe the consumate professional has pulled the wrong boot on and has became the game player that i at least suspected - I hope not : get well T.R.- good luck Sweden. I'm sure it will be fantastic racing (5 in a heat. Woof Woof Blackadder)For me whoever wins this event deserve it! Yanks & Ricko missing an all. I think every team can make a case for winning - however you must like Denmarks chances the best to pull of an upset victory over Aust. I hope there are no incidents because i think this years SGP series will be going down to the wire BABY! AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI (i hate it aswell)

Okee Dokee! The latest news is that the riders wil be e-mailed/faxed next week a form in which they will agree/disagree to the proposed 3 round series on these dates Gold Coast 10th Jan, 17th Gosford, 24th Mildura. Which i think is fantastic that it is the riders call, but poses this question how many riders (% off) will have to agree? If it falls thru then the championship will be held at Mildura on the 24th Jan. As we all know speedway is a pretty fickle sport and anyone can have an off night (mechanically or otherwise) so i would think it would be in the best intrest of the riders to have a three round series. (nothing like leading a semi and running out of fuel as J.C. will testify :x :  :-( :? ) Anyway I will try and keep things up to date on any further developments, or better still if anyone knows anymore info go for it. At this early stage i think 'The Book' will win his 8th Aussie Title as i'm sure consisency will play a part in a 3 round series. Lunchy - the good thing about the Mildura round is that it will be the Australia Day Long Weekend, in which case i will be celebrating our great day in earnest - as per usual. As BIG KEV would say"I'M EXCITED" Once a jolly swagman.......

Is it true that MA were looking at sending Rod Coluquorn to Europe to speed up communication with some riders. Now would be a perfect time as the top Aussies are team racing, maybe confirmation will come out after the WTC are over. It could be a case of "If you ride I'll ride" By the way Lunchy (if i may call you that) will you be going to any rounds(no doubt). If so we will have to catch up and maybe go fishing 'for a bit of old trout'

Event 2 tonight - Come on Team GB.
Ozyace replied to MAD 3:16's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well done to our Aussie team and congrats to G.B. I know there were only two teams there (apart from Matej Zager) but you can only beat those put in front of you, it would have been great to see the Yanks there (at full strength) the result may well have been different! Can not wait to find out what will happen in the final! Hope Team G.B. gets there and then read all the negative posts on the forum on how & why they were beaten. It's your team so get behind them 100% -
Defianatley not...........hang on a mo!..... was that you in the red........surely not ........in that case..........maybe I have seen you!

Don't believe everything Chesh tells you. I do like women in leather tho
-
Does anyone know any breaking news regarding the Oz titles. It looks to be Gold Coast Jan10? Gosford Showground Jan17 Mildura Jan24 Cheers
-
There's a country and western singer over here (Oz) Adam Brand who sang before the Oz G.P. - He's got a great song called "Dirtrack Cowboy' its meant to be about Sprintcars but it's pretty apt. He sang the song at the G.P. along with our national anthem and all the Oz riders came out of the pits and stood on the track all but one J. Crump.
-
Speedwaychick, had a coupla with Chesh yesterday and asked him if i knew you but it seems i don't. Know a few DENEPHEWS tho. Poona, travelling to Euro by myself at the mo, probably hiring a Britza van or the like in Sydney & driving to Mildura in convoy with Johnno or somthing should be a good laugh. Sssssseeya
-
poona Only Speculating I believe these dates are penciled in, Rod Colquorn, Mick Poole and some others are trying to get it up & going(anyone????), Poole is in the U.K. (Mick that is) at the moment hopefully getting the "GUNS' to ride, I know of one sandgroper who is keen to ride who knows it might even bring some foriegners out here, better than being freezing cold with rain & snow. Just the thought of watching these guys race has me salavating, i can probably only get a week and a bit off though as I'm going to Europe next year also. Cardiff G.P. & hopefully a couple either side of it not to mention, Belle Vue.....Mondays, Wolves ....Tuesdays, Sweden..... Wednesdays,Ipswich...Thursdays.....Newcastle Brown Fridays.... can't wait Ssssssseeya

Still no-one know what Simon Cross is up to these days? Funny Fella Oh and Doug Wyer I remember him at Claremont (West Oz) when i was a lad he was awesome might have been a test match and a couple of other meetings.
-
If it rains on September 7th then held on 6th October will this mean (if they are back) we might see Johnno, Frankie, Harding Jnr, Blackman also riding in the championship - Whatever I'll be there I need a fix aswell - no disrespect to the guys racing at Bibra Lake every 2nd to 3rd Sunday either. I might put this on another thread when confirmed or maybe Sir Lunchalot or someone else can confirm the dates for the Oz titles are as follows January 10 - Brisbane Exhibition Ground Jan 17 - Gosford & Jan 24 Mildura? I'll definatley go to the last two if it entices the GUNS to ride. By the way what was the best W.A. Championship any you people saw seeing as there are many sandgropers on this thread. Think mine would have to be Doyle's 91-92 after his big crash coming out of Fowlhouse on to the main straight. Then went on to win his next heat & the championship.
