Wolbert was very short-sighted in what he did. Plenty of riders out there to choose from nowadays.

Got it. No one to speak to on the Edinburgh thread.

Edinburgh newspaper. Should be on the Edinburgh thread, not Glasgow. Ah, of course. Unless you stereotype Buckfast with Glasgow. Funnily enough it's sold in Edinburgh shops too. In fact, my local Edinburgh chippie includes it on it's door-to-door home delivery flyer.

Not saying no one else has these, nor that they're the best, but let's not forget the disabled access/facilities at Ashfield.

Following on from my two questions above to IronScorpion. He's maybe not had a chance to see them or answer yet. If I can now jump the gun .... I walk across the track at the second bend, and attended most meetings last year. I'm no track expert and don't claim to be. I can honestly say that Sunday's surface was unrecognisable to anything I saw last year - and I didn't see much obviously wrong then. The surface looked very smooth, the shale texture finer and the depth looked consistent from outside to in. For a newly laid track I thought it held up well and much less dirt moved to the outside than normal. Also worth remembering there were 25 heats run (includes 4 junior races). If the track wasn't perfect for some, it wasn't for the want of trying - a great deal of work went into it including Doc Bridgett assisting. That's the important thing for me - the will, financial investment and people trying to give an entertaining stage for the riders/fans.

Two genuine questions .... 1. In your opinion, what was wrong with the track on Sunday? 2. What would you do to improve it?

Your Team An What You Expect In 2017....
george.m replied to Midget's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Glasgow. I'd like to expect: 1. The boys to gel as a team 2. Help each other 3. The more experienced to help the less so 4. Fight for one another 5. Never accept being behind the other team's rider in a race 6. Give it their best to entertain the fans 7. Enjoy the season and show it to the crowd. -
and same to you

Many of the non-Glasgow supporter comments on here are related to the potential success of the team in winning trophies. Well, as someone who'll be paying to see them week in week out, I'm a happy bunny with our septet. We potentially have a team which will entertain us, with the added interest of potentially watching some youngsters improve their riding skills. I go week in, week out to be entertained - not to watch in hope that by the end of the season we'll have some silverware.

Add to that Richard winning the British SF. OK it was at Ashfield, but some classy riders in the field who can handle the track.

Now that Dan has signed and he's doubling up with BV, so glad Edinburgh rejected our Friday night application.

And of course he's an asset so this is a decision for the long term.

Aaron prefers not to ride in heat one, whereas Richard does.

As in "Cum on the lads"?

Edinburgh fans shouldn't be so hardon themselves.
