Berwick Bandits V Glasgow Tigers 27/6/15

Agreed, and when was last time international matches affected premier league as usually the league programme is cancelled? And did Alex Ferguson even not permit players to join squads? A fairly weak argument put forward by original poster. -

This member of the paying public didn't go last night because he thought he wouldn't be entertained. So Berwick lost out on the cash. Point now made? -
Glasgow V Sheffield Lc Semi 1st Leg 30 June 2015
george.m replied to SharpenRake's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
No Howe, possibly no Sarjeant (not sure). Based on Sheffield getting stronger last time as the meeting went on, this could be a tough one and wouldn't surprise me if final score is close. -

Not taking anything away from Berwick, you can only race against what's in front of you. The real loser tonight was the paying public, totally farcical that any team has to turn up so below strength. What other entertainment allows paying customers to be shafted like this? Hope Angus is allowed to appear at Hampden tomorrow. -

Paying public not dished value for money tonight. -

With what is effectively a 3 man team I can't see anything but a home win for this one. Pity the speedway gods have dealt it this way as this could have been a cracking meeting with a full Glasgow team. -

Awh Mr B and Young51, don't take it so bad when Scotland's wee diddy team beats the all conquering Champions! I've had plenty of experience of Derby match defeats and you do get over it .... eventually. Anyways, it's good practice for you when we have the sequel later this year .... "HUMP AT THE DUMP 2" -

Got my "Hump at the Dump" DVD today, even the fact that it doesn't work in the DVD player doesn't spoil my viewing! Worth every penny just to hear the "impartial" commentary. Heat 14 and it takes to the 4th lap before it's acknowledged there's any Tigers in the race, never mind their on a 5-1. Even resorts to a bit of refereeing. Heat 15 and he's pure choking from the start! Just love it! -

Squeaky bum towards the end today and Ipswich deserved more. Have said it before and will say it again, we seem to have an issue with killing meetings off at home when we have a lead. Thought we missed James today, and perhaps today was an indication of things to come once he returns and is in the main body of the team. -
Exactly. Gentlemans agreement or no gentlemans agreement, it's morally wrong. It cheats the public, prevents riders from earning and also cheats the other teams in the league. What if Glasgow hadn't used a guest, Scunthorpe won and then got 6th place in the league by a point. How would the team finishing 7th have felt missing out on a play off place? Maybe we'll hear more at today's meeting?

Edinburgh V Redcar (pl) 19/6/15 @ 7.30pm
george.m replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yeah of course. I try to make a contribution to BSF, you should try it yourself some time. -
Appreciate I might be seen by others as being biased, but a genuinely neutral view on this, and for any other time/club who act similarly. Surely the ultimate job of promoters is to have as many riders racing as possible to entertain the public? Not restricting who should had shouldn't appear? Short changing your customers ... not good business practice. And yes I appreciate it depends on folk's interpretation of the word "entertain", because for some that means winning. And yes I know some may call me naive, but I'm not talking about whether or not it happens.
