  1. Why is it that the Scottish Open meetings always takes an eternity to run? The Monarchy do a good job with regular team meetings, so why is it year in, year out, does this meeting take so long? My main reason for not going.
  2. Deserves an MBE for services to speedway!
  3. Screen - Nearly fell of my seat reading this - a compliment for something Glasgow from a Monarch fan! Could this be a sign of impartiality? I might just have to change some of my views about the Monarchy. Impartiality - no never - Nurse! Nurse! McGowan - Agree not box office, but I'd rather watch a decent racer than a 'right turn' rider, who throws caution to the wind about other's safety - I sincerely hope I'm wrong - but what goes around comes around; live by the sword, die by the sword. Grajczonek - Would rather watch an up and coming trier, no matter the team or his average, than 'Right Turn' - which was my original point - not a comparison between the Glasgow/Monarchy 1 to 7. Agree Katjagoogoo is a very exciting rider and I enjoy watching him! Did I really say that, it's catching - Nurse! Nurse! Nurse!
  4. LMAO ... and just what are we jealous of? We have Joe Screen, Travis McGowan and the emerging Josh G ... and you think we're jealous of Fisher? Aye right!!!! Didn't know the Edinburgh Comedy Festival had started already!!! Glasgow fans jealous of a rider with his riding 'tactics' reputation ... I think not!!!! Don't make the mistake of judging me by your standards! Jealous ... dream on! Edinburgh are not the speedway nirvana benchmark. Same old, same old! Yawn!!!!!!!!!!! Time for my bed now! Before that, current holder of the Ashfield Classic ... in my eyes ... James Wright ... and you know why!
  5. Here are my predictions for the Edinburgh "Not So Open" 1. The meeting will last too long, with too much time between heats. So much so, that by the time the final arrives you won't care who wins unless a Tiger is in the final. 2. There will be little information between heats to keep supporters updated. 3. There will be at least 5 changes to the programmed riders. 4. The centre field grass will be cut but not fully collected, making it look like a hay field. 5. Ryan Fisher will take out at least one rider.... 6. .... per heat. 7. Kalle Katajisto won't be meeting reserve ... and won't score his usual Friday night tally! 8. At least one Monarch will withdraw due to a flight problem. 9. The Monarchy will not applaud any Tigers heat winners. 10. There will be that 'usual suspect' dog poo outside the main turnstile. Thanks to the original poster on Easy Tiger for the accurate dog poo observation - bit of a landmark at Armadull.
  6. I can remember him at Paisley and Coatbridge in the 70s.
  7. Just remembered the vendor in the white coat shouting, "Speedway Star, Speedway Mail". At the start of the meeting he stood at the turnstiles, then during the meeting he walked around. Best bit though was at the end of the meeting when he had copies of the Star from years back on the floor and he sold them cheap!
  8. I'd forgotten about them. I used to see these when I mingled in the pits after meetings in the hope of getting an autograph or for some strange reason some of those perspex "visors" thingys which were held in by bulldog clips on the end of helmet duck bill. Also miss Daytona boots and real bull horn handle bars.
  9. Why? The armed forces are legal organisations, so why should they not be able to promote themselves?
  10. Does it really matter who sponsors a speedway meeting/rider/race? Any sponsorship is good sponsorship and we should be showing gratitude for it!
  11. Takes a big man to do what you've done CMV06 .... respect to you!
  12. His bikes are down on power this season no doubt ... which is allowing his true talent to come to the fore!!!
  13. He's now doing this with increasing frequency ... suggests to me he's lost it. Scott Nicholls went the same way.
  14. New nickname for Fisher .... Phil Collins ... "No jacket required".
  15. Many thanks idh for taking the time to do this and doing so, so promptly after the event!
  16. He's rarely had the credit he deserves. He just gets on with the job keeping a low profile in the process.
