  1. Did the Berwick promotion miss a trick yesterday? A couple of riders on bikes, not racing or doing full laps for obvious reasons. But a few starts, a bit of noise and THE speedway smell might have been a good bit of PR, especially with the TV cameras there.
  2. The accounting firm where the clubs sponsors and knew there was something wrong. Imagine fiddling when your club is sponsored by a firm of accountants, bound to get caught!
  3. With all the discontent amongst some forum members about pre-match entertainment, size of crowd, quality of racing, price of tickets, etc is it not about time BSI seriously considered moving the British GP to Slough?
  4. Aye I was speaking yesterday to his accountant from many moons ago. He thought his name was Peter, but not sure. Seems he had a nice little earner.
  5. And with a roof they can't moan about the weather either!
  6. Nope. Just checked and Madonna is doing a concert in Chicago that night.
  7. That you were offended by our armed forces attendance I find quite incredible! My wife's job is to take care of those who have lost their sight whilst in the line of duty, protecting innocent people across the world not always from their own country. You should have spent the day with me yesterday. Whilst you were enjoying yourself, I was helping to raise funds for War Blinded at her work. To give these boys and girls a half decent life once they can no longer earn money due to their disability. Have you ever spoken to someone who's lost half their face protecting others? Or someone who's lost their legs/arms or worse? It is the most humbling of experiences and simply leaves you feeling totally inadequate. These boys and girls make these appearances to let them enjoy a bit of civilian life and it allows members of the public like me, to go up to them, shake their hand and thank them for what they do. I find that experience rewarding, as do they. When was the last time you defused an unexploded bomb, with a picture of your wife and kids in your top pocket? They have every right to be at event like this, whether they've done so of their own choice in their own time or been invited/told to be there. Whilst they put their life on the line, and the potential misery of their loved ones, some people can pontificate about the rights and wrongs of their existence in public places through their keyboard. When in their presence, I get a sense of perspective. Militarisation of everyday life? Have a word with yourself and join the real world instead of over dramatising and scare mongering! I am 100% proud of our boys and girls, every single one of them! No, you are not stupid. You are utterly insensitive, lack understanding and out of touch with the real world.
  8. Going by the standards we are seeing in GPs and SWCs nowadays, the new breed of world class riders coming through are in their teens. The UK just doesn't have anyone near good enough at present. The Danes and Eastern Europeans seem to have a production line of talent. We're looking for one person to step up. Seems to me that we are going wrong somewhere.
  9. Okey, dokey. It was another Englishman who was pocketing the gate takings then.
  10. bigeddiechek, did Peter Waite own Berwick Rangers football club at one stage? Heard a wee story today about an Englishman who did?
  11. Lot of sense spoken here about the staging date this year. Think it had to change because of the Olympics. Back to normal next year unless I'm wrong. Not so much sense spoken when discussing Rangers though! "the once Scottish giants Rangers." Corn flakes spluttering everywhere! THE Scottish Giants don't you mean? 35,000 season tickets sold, sell out games away and 49K at home and they're not giants?!!! Could back fire Screm big time if series decided by that stage. I'd imagine they need a good crowd at Cardiff to subsidise some of the other venues. 25,000, 30,000, 35,000, 40,000! What does it matter? Are we speedway fans or accountants (God forbid!!) We saw some good racing, were entertained by the best speedway riders in the world and should have enjoyed ourselves - whether there or on the TV. Who says we British are moaners?
  12. In all respect, and of course I don't know for sure, but I'd suspect his family are trying to move on and it could have opened up old wounds. As I say I don't know for sure. It has been a while since the event and I'd suggest we should be celebrating his life at this stage, not grieving.
  13. Re comments about the low crowd, wonder if August date meant many we're on annual holidays?
  14. Invest in an indoor loo Paul! Hopefully they won't over water the track now. British GP and no argy bargy as yet ..... strange.
  15. Unfortunately the best chance the UK has of winning a GP is probably riding in the NL right now.
  16. Why are they watering the track so heavily? First 4 heats were superb. Andersen caught rolling, unlike one of his heat wins.
  17. Wear your goggles ... http://www.mademan.com/chickipedia/sophie-blake/photosgallery/Sophie_Blake-chicki/
  18. Looks like a rut starting between bends 1 and 2. Should add to the entertainment!
