Grand Prix Challenge 2017
Ghostwalker replied to STEPHEN 333's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
He is a former Holsted Speedway board member/chairman/manager, being involved with Holsted speedway for some 20 years. He was elected new "foreman"/manager for the Danish speedway commission on a "repræsentantskabsmøde" held during the last weekend in February. http://www.holsted-speedway.dk/nyheder/rudi+steen+hansen+takkede+af_586/ http://www.jv.dk/sport/Speedwaysportens-nye-foerstemand-er-fra-Holsted/artikel/2483573 -

Rudi Steen Hansen who is the manager for the Danish speedway commission thinks that the riders gave up too early. A decision will be taken early next week on how to handle the situation. http://sport.tv2.dk/motorsport/2017-04-22-speedwayboss-om-aflyst-loeb-koererne-gav-for-tidligt-op -
Sure I agree with your points/concerns. I think the idea of a new league would be that it would somewhere between Allsvenskan and Elitserien in quality if it happens. I also don't think that all teams would have to have the same budget as the top Elitserien teams. I don't know the exact financial status of each team but i think that Griparna are pretty stable from what I've heard. They were a bit loud about the need/cost for a new air fence. Some claim though that Griparna had the money but that they complained so that the city would help fund the new airfence. Vargarna is a bit uncertain still for 2018 and beyond but they claim that it's looking "bright". I don't know about Örnarna. I would guess that they are somewhere in the middle, not in immediate danger but also not very stable. Indianerna is the most troubling and I think it will depend on the weather. Too many rain offs and I think they might run into new problems. ----------- Smederna have decided that the start will be moved by 8 m forward. http://eskilstunasmederna.se/arbetet-fortgar-pa-eskilstuna-motorstadion/ Smederna's press and practice have been postponed due the track works needing some more time and due to the uncertain weather forecast for next week. http://eskilstunasmederna.se/press-practice-flyttas-fram/

Well that is of course a theoretic possibility but IMO if it is 10 teams, that means teams would only have div1 teams. We need as many teams as possible in the combined league so that the Swedish riders will have as many riding opportunities as possible. That is a very good attendance but the key factor is what attendance Torun have based their budget on. If 13K shows up on average but the budget is on 15K, they are 2K short on average. Then there are more teams in Poland then Torun and it's not really fair to judge from one meeting only. However as I said 13K is a very good attendance with the poor weather and everything and I am not saying that Polish speedway is in any sorts of financial trouble. I do think that Polish speedway might risk painting themselves into a corner due to their increasing demands on the riders regarding priorities over other leagues.

If a merged Elitserien/Allsvenskan is going to work, they have to have two meetings/week for parts of the season since it otherwise isn't possible to have 22 meetings+play off during the available months. IMO due to climate/weather, the seasons can't start earlier then may and needs to finished by early October.

That is correct, 3068 on average http://www.elitspeedway.com/nyheter/e/70/bra-resultat-for-speedwayklubbarna-i-publikbarometern/ Which is an increase by 19% from 2016. However I mainly think it is due to good weather (no rain offs in Elitserien for 2016) and Masarna's return to Elitserien. Elitserien is still the 3rd best attended league in Sweden and speedway is also the 3rd best attended sport in Sweden. football (Allsvenskan) is nr 1, icehockey (SHL) is nr 2. http://www.svt.se/sport/motorsport/speedwayen-lyfte-rejalt-pa-laktarna/

2018 Grand Prix Venues
Ghostwalker replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
With GPs the question as always is that if you want one, is there is someone willing to pay BSI the staging fees that they require? And does that someone think that he / she can make a profit from it? For a second Swedish GP, Tele 2 Arena is Imo a less bad option than Fridnds due to better communications (subway, parking garages...) and because it's smaller than Friends. -
If you have a descent internet connection, you can get Eurosport player.

I think that the Swedish broadcaster C more have no problem filling the gaps in a 2 hours meeting with interviews, intra discussions between commentators and the track side studio people, guests as well as feature stories. The issue is the for ESP these gaps are filled with a fixed feed where the camera just overlooks the track. So C more might want to have the 2 hour meeting as it is while ESP want to have it shorter.

The technology suggestion is not about replacing the tapes just about using the technology as complement to the tapes. Starting procedure will be the same but if a rider is too quick, the heat will be stopped and the rider warned.

It's about reaction, not anticipation. All other sports with a standing start disallow anticipation of the start. Some starts might look good but there is a limit on how fast a human can react to a visual stimuli. First there is the time for your brain to register what your eyes see and then the brain need to react to that and send signals to telling the muscles to act. Finally there is the time for the clutch to react and the tires to spin up. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4456887/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_chronometry You can try your own reaction time at this site http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime . My best for click when the red box turned green was 198ms . I agree with Star Lady about the transponders. That would likely eliminate the jump starts since riders (eventually) would learn that there no longer is any idea to try and roll before tapes up since that would be picked up by the transponders.

Ice Speedway Results 2016-2017
Ghostwalker replied to Conkers's topic in International World of Speedway
We're 2/3 into March already and I don't think it will be cold enough again this spring to give it a new try, at least not in Örnsköldsvik or on natural ices. Possibly if you go in northern most areas like Kiruna but I doubt that they have any suitable tracks there. -

IMO Grigory Laguta could add something compared to lets say Lindgren and Maybe Zagar.
