2010 Grand Prix wildcards
Ghostwalker replied to gaztrotter's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
the world champion is not decided in one race The champion is decided ine a series of races., which is why there are 11 GPs. The champion is the one who have the best combines score from ALL Gps. Which is the direct opposite of what you says about one race. The same system is used, in WRC, F1, Moto GP where the champion is decided in a SERIES. One race is not a series, Also one race is too circumstantial IMO. Definition of series: How to decide who the best 15 is? well it wouldn't be so hard to have a database where the number of scored points and ridden heats and use it to calculate an average in the same way as in the leagues. -

last year Zorro became Swedish champion, does that automatically mean the he is a better rider then Fredrik Lindgren, Amdreas Jonsson, Jonas Davidsson? This year THJ finished 3rd, does that make him better then PK, Lindbäck, Davidsson, Nermark? or when Harris won at Cardiff did that make him the best rider in the world? its the same with the GP challenge. Zorro finished ahead of Harris, Lindgren, Miedzinski ... does that mean that Zorro is a better rider then them? My point is that ONE race is not sufficient to decide who is the best rider. Because why did he win? because he is the best? because he was lucky? Because he had a better gate? because the track suited him better then the others? while the results from an entire season gives you a better idea about who is the best rider because in the latter case the riders have raced against other and allot of other riders of various skill, on allot of different types of tracks. Simply an entire season gives allot more input about a riders skill then just a 5-6 heats one night, on one track against a fewer amount of opponents. -

i dont think they should get rid of the nominations. What if a rider (i.e Jason Crump) gets injured and misses both several GPs and one round of the qualifications. He then ends the season outside top 8. As it is now he would get a nomination but if you got rid of ther nominations Jason would not be in the GPs... -

Rico (7,72) , Lindbäck (7,04) and Protasiewicz (8,26), Miedzinski (7,60) have higher averages in Sweden then Harris (6,90) and Woffinden (6,63) you also have to take into account that Tai rode as a reserve during the entire season (except for one or two meetings) while the other rode as 1-5. In Poland; Pepe 8.89, Zagar 7,56, Miedzinski 7,51, Rico, 7,16, Lindbäck 6,79, Tai 6,44 In UK: Zagar: 9,15, Harris 8,54, Rico 8,56, Tai 7,47 SWC race off: Lindbäck 10. Harris 9, Rico 17, Woffinden 8. So it seems that Harris and Tai aren't better then the other suggested riders in neither Sweden, Poland,UK or SWC. So why should these two riders with the lowest score (compared to other suggestions) in all 3 major leagues+SWC get a nomination each? -

well they are better riders then Harris and i think its very silly that a rider can finish outside top 8 year after year and still get a a nomination ahead of other better riders. They deserve it just as much as Harris It was the same with Nicholls who received nomination after nomination despite failing top 8. Now the story repeats its elf with Harris. Again how many chances should Harris get? 4,5,6,7,8,9,10? Harris haver failed three years in a row now and he have actually gone backwards. He finished 9th the first year, 13th last year and 14th this seaso and people actually think he still deserves a nomination? and as far as i know Tai didn't go particularly far in the qualifiers either and he is not better then any of the ones above. And why should the qualifying process be the only decider about who's in or not? -

well Harris have done three seasons in the GP so far without Qualifying. Besides Chris Harris will be 28 next year and that is hardly "new blood" or "young and talented" That he won the BC two of the three latest years. Well despite being the British Champ he finished second to last from the end. No offense but IMO that says more about the state of British Speedway then how good Harris is. Some say that Rico have failed before in the Gps, he has but so have Harris and why should Harris get more attempts and Rico not? Harris will have his 4th Attempt Freddie his third. How many chances should a non qualifier get? 3,4,5,6 or unlimited number of attempts if they are British? -

but what the h*ll Harris does not in any way deserve a wildcard. What abouut those who finished ahead of him in the GP standings? Like Ulamek? and what about riders like Miedzinski, Lindbäck, Zagar, Richardson, Protasiewicz? Harris have had 3wc already but have failed each time to make it with in top. -

During the upcoming weekend, the Elitserien Series Association will have a meeting to discuss some suggested changes for next season. The suggestions are these: a new 16 heat, heat schedule . Suggested by Dackarna. a new 16 heat, heat schedule where all 8 riders will have scheduled heats, which means that the nr 8 gets two scheduled heats. heat 15 will be removed and replaced by a new reserve heat in heat 7. riders 6 & 7 have to ride in at least 3 heats each. rider 8 have to ride his two heats. tactical substitute will be allowed from heat 5 7 & 11 will not be legitimate heats for tactical substitute. . . . Dackarna motivates this suggestion with that it will be a coast saver for the teams since they dont have to pay for the first nomination heat (ht 15). They also says that the nr8 now will get to ride instead of standing in the pits during all meetings. . IMO. This do not solve the money problem. If the better rides will have one heat less what will stop them from demanding a higher pay per point to compensate for the fewer heats. Then the u21 riders will be more valuable for the teams meaning that they can have higher pay demands simply because the demand will increase while the supply will decrease. And are there 24-27 U21 riders (depending on how many teams there will be in Elitserien next season) that are of a high enough standard? . : Revert to "Old style" back to back meetings. Suggested by Dackarna. Dackarna suggests that the older system with the return meeting the week after the first meeting should be used again instead of the system used the past two seasons where the teams met once in the first half and once in the second half. Dackarna motivates it with that the home meetings will come in a better flow. and that B2B meetings means that it is easier to swap race dates between the two involved teams. . . Scrap the aggregated bonus point and replace it with 3 points for an away win. Suggested by Dackarna. . Dackarna want to replace the aggregated bonus point with a 3p reward for away victories. Dackarna motivates it with that the away team will turn up with an as strong team as possible and that the away team will be more motivated. IMO the bonus points for best total score is fine as it is. . . A guest rider system for Division 1. Suggested by Dackarna. Dackarna suggests that Division 1 teams should be able to loan riders from other teams if injuries means that a team have problems to muster 7 riders to a meeting. Currently if a team show up with a team with too few riders that team will be penalized with fines by SVEMO. It also means that the entertainment value will be less. . . unlimited number of tires for Elitserien. Suggested by Dackarna.Dackarna suggests that the current limit of two tires/rider/meeting Should be scrapped. They suggest that the amount of tires used should be unlimited because the cost cutting reason no longer is valid since the cost for the tires are quite low compared to other costs. Also they say that the riders usually pays for their own tires. Another advantage would be that all "cheating" and accusations of cheating would be no more. . . Rider averages. Suggested by Masarna.Masarna suggests that the averages. for the Swedish riders that are available for farming, should be based on the performance from each league independently of each other. Meaning that: The Elitserien average will be based on the rider's performance in Elitserien only. The allsvenskan average will be based on the rider's performance in Allsvenskan only. Ditto for Div1. Currently a rider can ride very well in Elitserien but if he is registered with an allsvenskan team and either don't ride there at all or rides poorly. The rider's average will stay low in Elitserien despite good scoring. IMO this is a very good suggestion and i hope that it will be approved. . . . more info later. http://www.svenskafans.com/motor/speedway/...l.asp?id=325200 -

"Gotland Islanders" aka Bysarna still have hopes of completing a new 80cc track for next season. despite a new delay. Even though the that the neighbours of the new proposed site all have granted Bysarna to build there, the city planning office have demanded that all neighbours have to fill out a form which Bysarna have to attach to their application. Until they have done so the planning office cannot approve Bysarnas' construction application. Västervik had a crisis meeting yesterday evening but are not any closer to a solution. The sponsors don't want to contribute with any more money until Västervik signs a couple good riders. Västervik on the other hand cant sign any riders until the debts have been paid. Västervik now hopes that Västervik municipality will stand surety for a loan. Indianerna's team manager confirms that he have talked with Bjarne Pedersen and Nils Kristian Iversen but that those two want to wait and see what happens to Västervik. -

the only school holiday in May is in the second full week (19) where the kids (and many parents) have 4 days of (May 13th - May 16th). After this the kids will be in school for four weeks before they the summer break starts. so the GP should at least be held on that weekend instead of the current. -
